Borderlands 2 - PC Performance Thread

I notice splitscreen mentioned in that SweetFX config. How does it work, and does it take any special tweaks besides flipping it on in that config?

No mention of improving PhysX performance beyond making water look better at higher resolutions it seems.

I feel like the new update made the framerate sink lower in certain parts than before. It's been a while since I've played but the dam place has a lot more stuttering than I remembered.

How does your GPU usage look? The only time I get frame drops is when I am hitting 100% GPU usage, this always happens when a lot of PhysX effects are happening. My problem seems completely different from others with a similar setup.

I noticed a pretty curious bug today. I get a some stuttering in some places, especially in the dam level. I enabled framerate display through console which somehow stopped the stuttering.

So, when I look at something that gives me bad framesrates with fps display enabled I don't get bad framerates.

Pretty weird.

Edit. Now the framerate is much smoother even with out the fps display.

so i've been playing this game for a while now ...i'm up to around level 25.

anyway, i'm amazed to see some people saying that they're getting a solid 60fps with physx on high with a single gpu. very hard to believe.

i'm using a gtx680 + gtx560 dedicated to physx and the game constantly drops below 60fps during some of the more heavy gun fights. (physx on high, btw)

i have vsync forced in the nvidia control panel, so during those times when it drops below 60fps, it's automatically down to 30fps (because of the vsync). (yeah, i hate screen tearing).

cpu = i5 760 @ 3.8ghz and 8gig ram. also using a Creative X-fi sound card.

running the game @ 1080p, btw.

turned off FXaa, turned down the view distance to 'high' ...still drops frames. it'll even drop frames with the view distance @ 'medium'.

pretty sad really ...i would think that this setup should easily handle 1080p/60fps.

google results show an ASSload of people having performance issues with the game ...so i would think that there's a problem with the game not using PhysX properly.

(btw, the game runs perfect maxed out as long as PhysX is turned off/low)

just to update:

i have been playing the game just by myself, and haven't bothered to try multiplayer yet ...so i decided to turn off the online roaming portion of the game in the game's 'networking' option at the main menu. just switched it to 'offline' and i'm almost positive that my performance has improved ...unless i'm just imagining things, which i don't think i am.

so if you think you should be getting more performance than you are getting, just try switching that networking option to offline and try it out.
