Borderlands publisher Take Two just dropped a financial report; turns out the franchise has sold a jaw-dropping 93 million copies.

That's ninety-three million vault-hunting, loot-chasing, wisecrack-filled units. And with Borderlands 4 barreling toward launch, the hype train isn't slowing down anytime soon.

Fans are cautiously thrilled. The series, after all, has been a mixed bag over the years. Borderlands 2 is a genre classic, and although Borderlands 3 has its critics, it's been defined as the franchise's "fastest selling" entry.

Again, regardless of what you think of the antagonists in Borderlands 3, from a gameplay perspective the main series has been consistently good.

The first two were great, especially for their time. The third and its DLC is nothing but cringe millennial writing with the gameplay loop that hasn't evolved since BL2, a title from 2012. Everything shown about BL4 looks like a dumpster tbh. The "USBkey guy" trying so hard to be enthusiastic about the game every time he is on camera, but i literally do not see anyone ever talk about the game. Not seeing BL4 doing well, i think it'll be forgotten very quickly, and not meet their sales expectations.

That's a huge surprise for sure! Did not expect Borderlines to have sold that much. Wonder why it didn't have the same spotlight and hype as the other huge selling franchises like Elder Scrolls, Fallout, and Zelda etc.

Borderlands 2 sold 30 million. Borderlands 3 sold 22 million. Where is the rest of the sales?

2 = awesome. Near perfect.
3 = selfies and Facebook shit?
4 = looks to be a strong contender for a trash heap.
The Pre-sequel gets a lot of shit, but I think it improved a lot on the formula, especially as it gave the player character a voice. Made the dialogue so much better.

I tried really hard to enjoy the game, but it's a case where the cringe gets in the way of my enjoyment. Always someone talking trying to be quippy and it's distracting because you're trying to understand why you're doing X or Y, but there's an idiot trying to be funny at every turn while you're getting shot at by bandits or clawed by skags. I loved 1, it was a surprise hit. I enjoyed 2 as well, especially in co-op. I cannot stand 3.

2 had the best balance with the humour of Handsome Jack and how he fit in the narrative. They tried too hard with 3.

The gameplay in Borderlands 3 is superb. Its gunplay is some of the best ever made.

Borderlands 4 will do well because it'll have a similar gameplay loop which will probably be even better than 3.

Replayed the first one on the Switch. Still loved it. Would like to replay 2 on switch but haven't had the time too.

No plans on playing 3 or 4.

The Borderland 1-2-3 games have been pretty good fun. However, they also tend to make me feel sick after hours of infinite shades of weapon-loot and inventory juggling...

Even if it is mainly at a reduced price, for a series of 3 games that's a very good amount of sales.

But they have to make a good game to get those players to pay full price for a new one.

i bought

2 copies of the OG game
2 copies of BL2
2 copies of BL3
1 copy of BLPS
1 copy of BLTT

IF 4 has cross save ll buy 2 copies too
