Owning the most expensive officially-licensed console peripherals ever made... priceless.

Blow $1000 on a projector for a system that's going to be replaced next year?

BRILLIANT!

Do you honestly think that only an Xbox will work with the projector? I'm just asking because your making yourself look extremely ignorant.

It would be a waste to use it with any next generation system with a measly 800x600 native resolution. Unless you want a really big, really blocky picture, you would be better off spending that money on a 32" HDTV.

Well, considering it was designed in concert with Microsoft, can be (apparently) plugged directly into the XBox, and is named the RAVEN (hint) Gaming projector, is being advertised on xbox.boxlight.com, and has copy distinguishing it "for" the XBox (but for your other stuff too), you tell me who their target is for this thing.

Damn, I was interested until I saw the resolution. That sucks balls! They could have atleast supported up to 1080i and I would have been sold!

Actually, this thing only does 800x600, so if XBox 2 does 1280x720 native games......

And is it just me, or is this thing a rebadged InFocus X1/X2......

:lol Nice...

If you want reeeeally spendy officially-licensed console peripherals, how about this little gem from Konamistyle Custom Factory? Their first project, the Dance Dance Revolution Arcade-Style Controller is pictured here:

I believe only 100 were made of these arcade-quality behemoths back in '00. Each one cost a cool 193,000 yen ($1850).

Japan only. Duh.

I really fail to see how partnering with MS will make this thing any more popular. Then again, those kids do love the Halo parties... and now, because somebody had to do it:

For a few hundred more you can get one of the Dell DLP projectors or other top notch models that blow this thing away. I'm actually in the process of cobbling enough cash to get one of my own. My pals have been bringing them to the LAN parites and I've been getting quite jealous. Don't dissount these things, you'reletting the word projector throw you. They are SO much more than that. Trsut me, I had the chance to get an awesome one and turned it down. When I saw a few of my friends at the next LAN party with them, I just felt like a complete fool! They a lot easier to move than a TV or monitor and have 10X the picture quality, and that's on a plain white wall with no screen!

Funny thing is our LAN parties have become quite hi tech, guys and girls have been grabbing all sorts of cool tech at cool prices by watching the net. They even bring their own 2.1 speaker systems. Now I have tech-envy and I want in on it. I'll post some pics of our last LAN party when I get a chance. Noting beats playing the Republic Commando demo in high def on about a 60 inch wall. I had the chance to get one at a really good price from a friend but I turned it down, then I saw it in action and have been kicking myself in the ass ever since. These things are PERFECT for LAN parties, PC or console. They just nice devices to have in general. But I digress......

Funny thing is I'm on vacation for the rest of the year and a rep from Raven called me about the projector today. I forgot I entered a web contest to win one back when it was annouced. He checked all my info and told me about the reduced price, and wished me well on winning one in their promotional contest. Chances are I'll lose, but it's nice to see that they're trying to spark interest. I wouldn't buy one because I've seen better and I KNOW which one I'm getting. Just waiting for some things to fall in place, and see what's left over in the cash reserve after X-Mas.

Well you would have to know a little history about Boxlight first. The company is only about 20 miles away from me. They made it big in the PC market... now that the demand in the PC market has faded, they are trying to branch out. The CEO of Boxlight is good friends with the head of Marantz and also has some close ties with some folks at Redmond. It has been said that his home theater system is valued at over $200,000.00 It has some rare krell amps and marantz audio/video components. The guy knows technology... but he also knows that he has to make this product affordable. Making an affordable electronic product in the US is pretty difficult. I seriously doubt if he even had to pay anything to MS to put the Xbox brand name on the projectors. They are also probably made to order and use the same components as his PC models, so if he sells 10 of them because they say Xbox, then he's doing good.

Actually, for what it offers, $1000 is pretty damn good. But if you are going to spend that kind of money, you might as well spend a bit more to get true HD resolution with DVI and component inputs.

EXACTLY!! This is a decent product, but like Jedimike stated and I inferred above, if you're going to spend that kind of 'cheese' then drop a few more bills and get a projector with all the 'bells & whistles'. Trust me, if you guys saw one of these you wouldn't be so quick to dismiss it. Pearls before swine I say! ;)

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I may actually win one, I could definately put it to good use.
