Brad Shoemaker Leaves GameSpot

No, the average GS user knows about the editors. Unlike most sites(i.e. IGN) GS makes their editors extremely known, whether it be through their ton of video features or podcasts. I remember visiting the site a few time about 5 years back when I first heard about it and it was pretty easy to know who the editors were.

Not to mention that GS attracts a more hardcore fanbase than a casual one.

Then why has the traffic not been negatively affected?

Traffic hasn't but the subscribers sure has, and that's where they get a huge chunk of their resources from. Basically their main fanbase is in ruins. The passerbys are beginning to become all they have left.

Not to mention that the whole traffic stats are kind of broken considering that for a user to be counted as traffic they need to DL some stupid app.

I was wondering when Brad would leave. No one else on that site matters now.

I miss Gamespot during the Greg Kasavin era. Excellent written and video reviews.

I don't care what others said, to me GS's reviews were spot fucking on all the time. People nitpick the DMC3 review, Twilight Princess, MP:H, e.t.c. but those are like a few odd ones compared to the ridiculous reviews (either extremely overated or underated) 1up and IGN gave at the time.

Now GS is irrelevant to me. I only watch Gametrailer's video reviews, although I never always agree with their scores, they are more entertaining than IGN/1up/e.t.c.

I have a maddening obsession with 1UP Yours. All year I've been listening to every episode on loop. I've been incorporating the styles of speaking into my own personality. Much like seeing Tetris blocks when you close your eyes i at times can hear the voices of the cast. I have a massive vocab list i built from the show with words like "DoucheLord" and "Extrafelous". I've also been meaning to throw together my own highlights reel and sending it to Skip.

Definitely the greatest audio program in the history of the universe.

I also listen to episodes many times but mostly because I like having something going in the background while I'm working. Not to memorize what they're saying :P

FYI--I know y'all love the Giant Bomb, but I just wanted to point out that some of the former GameSpot folks have started freelancing regularly for GameTap and Crispy Gamer. Actually, both of those sites are a veritable who's who of "Hey, didn't that guy used to write for?..."

Gotta love this industry -- They say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. When it comes to covering video games, the apple usually lands on another branch!

So whos this leave Homer? Ricardo?

EDIT: What the.....

"The officer on duty also cited UC Berkeley student Homer Rabara for possession of fewer than 28.5 grams of marijuana.

Rabara was released with a notice to appear in court in 30 days, similar to what he would receive for a traffic violation, Cooper added. Celebrities Pledge to Support Berkeley Library Campaign"

:lol

Found this while googling Homer to see if he was still at gamespot

Vinny Caravella, hotspot host, left too.
Just recently? have to say i stopped listening to hotspot after Navarro, Ryan Davis, and Shoemaker left. Vinny Carvella wasn't bad, but the podcast just was losing too many people left and right.

Anybody have gamespots web traffic numbers in the last couple months since the fallout?

That chart confirms that 1up need to make a good website! They've still got (for now) the best writers & commentary out of all the websites, now they just need a site that isn't like aids.

Tor is the only redeeming value left on the Hotspot. Once hes gone, its over. Does anyone have the full list of people who left since the firing?
Edit:
Alex Navarro
Ryan Davis
Jason Ocampo
Matt Rorie
Tim Tracy
Brad Shoemaker
Vinny Caravella

I would assume back to their parents home because they have no way to pay for rents anymore
More like the "upstairs" in the Giant Bomb offices, amirite? (Jeff alluded to that)

Fuckin' Gamespy gets more viewership than 1up? Wow.
I've never gone to their site other than the rare instance to see what they scored a big game. Definitely surprising. I used to love Gamespot but now I rarely check it. It's all about 1up (and Game|Life!) these days.

Where does GameTrailers stack up? Easily as good a resource as any of those sites.
