Well, who knows. I find it pretty bold to assume that they don't, though. Why not?

Personally I think most animals know that they are mortal in some way. All the cats I've had in my life seemed to know their time was running out; all of them, no matter who old or frail they were, each went outside for one last time, (presumably) visiting all the places that were important to them, and then found a secluded place to lie down and die.

I usually don't like dogs very much (sorry), but this thread is devastating. Wow.

Never forget

When I was a kid, a neighbor boy poisoned my mom's dog. I stayed home from school to help her bury him. A Husky/malamut mix named King. When the kid admitted it, I lost it and beat the shit out of him. The only time I've ever violently lost my cool. His parents threatened to call the cops and I told them to go ahead, and they could dig up our dog and run a few tests.
