Good episode, but it kind of felt all over the place. *shrugs* The Fever Ray audio cue was perfectly placed.

Anyone else get the feeling Hank will show Walt the notebook to get his feedback on the "formulas" that the inspector mentioned?

That is a really good prediction. I think that might happen as well.

This is where I bow out and wait for the series to end... then watch.

That's how I watched it before, and how I enjoyed it.

Man, Hank is really starting to piss me off. I hate how he is treating Marie like trash when she doesn't deserve it at all.

I think I hate him more than season 3 Skylar.

Hopefully that's the last of the real heavy Hank and Marie around the house shit. I've pretty much had my fill of it.
We've definitely seen what we need to see. 3 episodes of her slowly breaking down as he refuses to moves forward seems to have ended with the arrival of that journal. I bet his working with it will make him happier.

What a shit episode, I want to see Walter, Jesse, and Hank doing their business, not 30 minutes of Skylars fat ass and Marie stealing shit. Also the whole "we don't want to go for another car wash cause he said something mean about us" arc is ridiculous and stupid, and a waste of time.

I'm most interested in where Jesse ends up.

This is the stuff I want to see, I want to see him fall and how much all the prior events effect him, instead I'm stuck watching Skylar waddle around screen for most of the episode.

Disappointing episode. After the season 3 cliffhanger, I expected shit to go down. I want to see more Gus/Walt/Mike/Jesse, not 30 minutes of Marie and Skyler in one episode. Also, I feel like something is off with Saul and Walt this season. Just the way they talk and act, can't explain it.

Loved the ep. But then... I like the women of Breaking Bad. Even more respect to Vince for giving them pretty much the entire episode.

It happens in every show, unfortunately. Actors begin to study their characters' tendencies and over-emphasize them. Walt becomes unhinged in every conversation, Saul is more of a smartass than necessary.

Also, what is wrong with basing a show around Skylar and Marie? Unless they're killed off, leaving them out of an episode makes little sense.

Walt and Jesse are old hats at this game by now, but the wives have just now started to become affected by it.

Seriously, I'm glad there are characters on the show that don't get thrown off to the side when they are supposed be big parts of the main character's lifes.

The problem is that the writers basically trolled us after that end-season cliffhanger. We waited 13 months for Gus to eliminate their remaining threat and to say "get back to work" and everything is more or less back to normal. I'm all for development with Skyler and Marie, just not now...

You mean like Flynn?

Walter, Jr.? He had a brief walk-on role last episode, but yeah, that's all we've seen. I suspect he'll become important soon enough, there have been other stretches of episodes without him.

Nah. Even if that does become the case, it's way too early to tell. Things in the world of Breaking Bad are bleaker than they've ever been, so it's not surprising we're seeing our characters respond to it.

Walter was way in on wanting to buy the car wash because of what the owner said. Walt is way more prideful and stubborn than Skyler has ever been. These have always been character traits of both of those characters.
And we got plenty of Jesse this week. I don't know how we didn't see him fall even further this week. He's throwing money at people in order to watch them fight like dogs and allowing addicts to fight and steal stuff. Is that not showing how the prior events affected him?
Also, I love how you have to talk about how fat Skyler is every time you reference her.

W...what? Back to normal? Walt is terrified and desperately searching for a way to take control. Jesse had his fucking soul hollowed out of him. Victor died. Mike became even more closed off and distant. Gus quit his "just business" attitude and is ruling with an tight grip.

Feels like they have no idea what to do with him or hank
Main reason the show should end after this season or next. To me, the show lost a lot of value when they changed their minds and decided Walt was going to live...quickest way to make him a hero again is to make him sick again.

Alright episode. Had a feeling they were going to use the lab notes to get Hank out of it. Still sad seeing Jesse like that hopefully by the end of the season he will be himself again.

The show's creator was saying that the show will probably end with season 5 so there's that. Although I don't necessarily think the remission means Walt's going to live, I'm fairly certain it's only delayed his inevitable death by lung cancer, unless someone else kills him first.

The remission doesn't mean Walt is cured, it just means he has more time, of course I could be wrong, but I recall either Vince or Bryan Cranston clarifying that in a interview I read. Hopefully though the show will get back into the groove of things soon.

Okay, it wasn't a bad episode... but brilliant?

Err, yeah, I should have been clearer...I didn't mean it as brilliant-brilliant, more like good-brilliant. Better than last week's episode, to say in the least. Had a handful of the Breaking Bad humor since the tension has slowly gone dormant.

That episode also made me realize that if I had money like Jesse, I would probably spend it exactly the way he did.
Massive sound system, DJ Roomba, endless parties, uncut pizza, Go-karts, throwing a wad of cash in my own crackhouse...

Jesse Gokart racing was the best scene this episode, he is really fucked up. I don't mind the focus on Skylar and Marie since I like them. That's the thing with Breaking Bad for me, all of the characters are so interesting and likeable.Even a character like Saul who I expected to hate I ended up liking.

Hopefully the lab notes will motivate Hank to work harder on getting back on his own feet, I don't like seeing him bitch about cheese flavored snacks. Walt needs to do something about that camera though. Also, his beard needs to be thicker.

I can't handle this thread. It's like half of you are only watching for the times when Walt gets to be a badass. Have you even seen the show?

And good god, the fucking misogyny. Wah wah wah, Skyler's not the thinnest woman on the planet, therefore having her involved in plotlines is the destroying the show. And how dare they develop Marie's character when there are males who could be taking up screen time!

Skyler's ego and stubbornness is something Walt has exhibited for the whole series. Shit, it's why there even is a series. But oh no, Skyler wanting that car wash is offending viewers who desperately need more action.

Blah. This thread makes me angry.

When was Walt a hero? You know what would have been heroic? Swallowing his pride and letting his old friend help him with medical costs, not becoming a drug lord.

Don't get me wrong, Jesse's acting has been just amazing... but they are moving way too slow with him. We didn't really learn much about him in the last two episodes other than he is depressed, fucked up and lonely, and he barely said a word in the premier (although that really wasn't an issue).

As for this episode, it was a little Skyler and Marie heavy but I thought it was fine. This is probably the first time I tolerated and actually liked Skyler's presence, and it was fun watching Marie being a complete whacko. But I thought today kind of wrapped up their major storylines... Skyler got her car wash, and Hank might get back on track with the lab notes. So hopefully they'll fade and we'll get more Walter and Jesse stuff.

I agree with this, having him live and beat the cancer really took a lot of the threat out of the show, and made things seem less emotional for me anyways. I was always worried for Walt and wondered how it would end before he died, but now I know hes going to live, and it removes tension from a lot of scenes.

I thought Walt not having cancer as a crutch for him to cook was a super important and very necessary plot point....

Preach on. I really don't understand the hate, myself.

I loved the return of the Klepto and it was so fitting. I actually hated that it was on the back-burner for as long as it was.

I found Hank's comment while on the phone one of the most important. "Why are you doing this to me again?" not realizing that he is mostly to blame for driving her back into this. His demeanor is the cause. Marie didn't even want to go home after being busted. And look at how careless she was in her stealing; she subconsciously wanted to be caught to get Hank's attention but he misses the message.

Walt and Skyler grew apart because Walt was hiding everything. Now that he is more open to her about his other life, Skyler and Walt are slowly reconciling and being partners again. Meanwhile, Hank and Marie are drifting further apart even though Hank is this local hero and Marie has tried everything in her power to support and help him in his condition.

It's a fascinating contrast between the two sets of partners. I guess a lot of the subtleties are lost on some people.

I thought Walt not having cancer as a crutch for him to cook was a super important and very necessary plot point....

Exactly. It adds weight to his actions. There is no longer the claim that he was forced into it by circumstance; he wants and enjoys his criminal life (well, at some point did, now not as much).

I don't find anything wrong with the episode. I am, however, tired of Jessie's downward spiral. It's always the same thing for him.

Also, I though it cool that they played a Fever Ray song -- the best song on the album, too.

haha, you are going to be a very disappointed main. they've said repeatedly they're intent is to make a show where the series hero is gradually turned into a villain. watch moar 24

So Anna Gunn's preggers right?
Ugh I don't like Skylar.

I don't really buy her
manipulating Walt to buy the car wash

Crappy writing

Also where's the police/noise complaint about Jesse's place

But good episode Hank/Marie side story was great though.

great skyler episode. bringing the logic to growing ego of Walter. she's an accountant so this whole monetary problem makes sense

would have been great if not for emo Bitch. I think Gus will give him pair of balls to man up next episode

Kind of a meh episode. It got things rolling but anything outside of Jesse wasn't really that interesting and it just felt that the episode had too much crammed into it.

Probably the weakest ep so far. I still liked it quite a bit though.

I think seeing Marie and Hank at their weakest is fascinating. We haven't seen them hit rock bottom. Luckily we won't have to for long, since it seems like Hank is getting back into his old groove. I enjoy seeing Skylar being a smart partner for Walt. The scene with Jesse driving the go kart was my favorite scene. Jesse is really losing it.

I am still hoping for more Jesse/Walt interaction next episode. Idk why people complain about it being "slow". The 3rd season didn't kick it up a notch until about halfway through. This is what Breaking Bad does so well.

Of course it was. But this is another mindnumbing conversation in the BB thread so what did you expect?
