Former Smashing Pumpkins and Zwan bandleader Billy Corgan says that his first solo recording is "the most peaceful album I've ever done," according to Billboard.com. Corgan added, "There's nobody to fight with, there's nobody to yell at, there's nobody to say you're not trying hard enough. It's strictly a personal journey." The album is scheduled to come out in the spring of 2005, although there's no exact release date or title for the disc yet.
Corgan admits that he was "tyrannical" when he fronted his earlier bands.
"If I look back at some of the decisions I made with the Pumpkins, I would do things maybe in a kinder way. But the intention of what I was trying to do, which was to have the best band make the best music, I don't apologize for that at all...my heart in it was good, and I know that."
The singer and guitarist said he wouldn't rule out working with a band again in the future.
In addition to preparing his solo album, Corgan is writing a novel and also working on a DVD of an acoustic show he performed last spring in his hometown of Chicago.
He also recently published his first book of poetry, titled Blinking With Fists, and will spend the rest of October doing readings and signings on a 16-city tour.
