I wonder if cancer caused him to change his lifestyle. As in: his doctor told him, "you're about to die in this much days" and he just went: "welp, fuck it then".

Who knows, I may have done the same in his place.

Ask me about the moon landing or the temperature at which jet fuel burns. You may be surprised at what you learn.
I was once in an elevator with him about 6 months ago in a Toronto hospital (Mount Sinai). He honestly looked as large as ever.

I last saw him at City Hall around then too in September. He was in an Adidas tracksuit. I wanted to go ask for a picture with him but I didn't do it as he was talking to someone and I didn't want to interrupt him. Now I'll always regret not asking.

RIP Mayor Rob Ford

I like to think he enjoyed his life, as short as it was. Certainly a charismatic and memorable figure. RIP

Fuck cancer, it took my own dad at 53...but catastrophically irresponsible, racist, impaired driving wife beaters get no sympathy from me. He's in the same category of people as Scalia.

From what we know, the diagnosis was made just before he was up for re-election and after the whole crack-smoking scandal.

thinking about his life in recent years feels surreal and makes me sad.

he brought a lot of what happened to him on himself, but seeing a man get slapped around by the media in brutal fashion and then almost immediately dying of cancer is a little heartbreaking.

He was the hero Toronto deserves, but maybe not the one it needed. 46 is really young, this seemed to have happened really quickly, it must be heartbreaking for his family.... RIP.

Rob definitely lived an interesting life. No matter who much I disagreed with his politics, no one deserves this fate. RIP. Really feel bad for his wife, family and his children who now have to grow up without their father.

Once I heard he was placed into palliative care, I didn't think things would improve.

RIP you colourful character. You were a questionable politician, but at least you were never boring.

Replace Toronto with Etobicoke.

I'll give him credit for truly loving his part of the city.

Nobody ruins my family vacation but me...and maybe the boy!
Didn't like his politics, or even the man himself, but he was an interesting fellow and I still feel sad that he died fairly young
