Nintendo of America's vice president of corporate affairs Perrin Kaplan describes the console as "very, very sleek." The system, which is reportedly tiny, will stand horizontally. Its width will reportedly be no more than three DVD cases stacked flatly on each other, or slightly more than an inch.

Revolution will play standard DVD media this time around. No word yet if the console will be able to play DVD movies.

It will also be able to play high-definition games and go online.

Johnny was right on the money.

Yeah just read it. I can't see why Nintendo fans couldn't be more excited. Nintendo is really trying to change the image it sounds like. KICKASS.

I said it before, and its worth repeating:

Nintendo is showing more of the revolution than most people think they are, next week. Perrin's words are just preparing you.

Dude, I pissed my pants after reading that nugget of info. Sign me up for the assault. Jesus christ I'm excited.

Also I don't see why you didn't quote the most important news of it all:

Booya. The HD ERA of the XBox and online capabilities, and plays DVD games and most liekly movies too.

So much smaller than the 360? Will it be bigger than the PSTwo? Interesting. Hopefully Nintendo can come through.

Yeah, that's pretty tiny. I just picked up some DVD cases just for kicks. If its really that big and it doesn't look like a toy. Then they have a pretty good design on their hands.

i always thought the Gamecube has a nice design, it's just that they pimped the indigo model and it had the handle, which can be unscrewed if it really bothers you. Remove the handle, paint it jet black, and at a coat of gloss and it would look pretty darned slick.

Secretly, everyone wants them to. It'll just take the right touch and the third parties will jump onboard.

They have rewritten the book on heat dissapation if it has more graphical capability than Xbox 360 in a tighter space.
If anybody can do it, it's Nintendo and their crackpot group of techies. Jesus. I hope we get something over the weekend. I'll be on a plane all day Mon so I'll miss a ton of crucial info.

PERRIN KAPLAN - that is the most information you have released since your Zelda blunder. Congrats.
Perrin: Oh no! I gave out information! My Jedi powers have weakened. I sense a disturbance in the Force.

Peter Main: You gave out information?! *cuts on lightsaber* Your master status has been revoked!

I got my PSTwo right here, and if it can be any smaller than that ... thats a damn good accomplishment. I also wanna point out that this basically addresses the three biggest complaints about the past two systems from Nintendo: storage space which cost them games on N64 and probably games on the GC, online service - the same thing for GC, and design. Hell if you can even throw in being a multimedia device, cause if this thing is going to play DVD games, its obviously going to be able to play movies. And HD games. Make that 4 things Nintendo has addressed right there ... it can go online, sleek design, disc medium, and multimedia. I don't see if this thing plays DVD's and plays HD what Sony can have on it anymore.

Slim iz always in. I predict the Revolution's color will be platinum (Nintendo seems to be advertising that color for all its consoles now).

wow. did the 3 dvd box comparison. impressive.

It will be so great to put all three consoles next to each other for side-by-side-by-side comparison

If that news release from MoSYS is real, and the Rev's graphic card is a dual core, ATI gets the design win!

The good thing about this is that it probably means we'll see how revolution will look at E3. Why else would kaplan talk about how 'sleek' it looks? :D

Japanese tech for ya.
Very small

Recent tests discovered the Japanese Brain is actually bigger and more developed than the western brain.
No shit. The japanese womans brain even more so!!!!

Power of the Playstation brand and developer support come to mind.

With a system so thin, i have to wonder if it'll feature an internal hard drive. Notebook and microdrives are pretty expensive, and would still cost more than a typical 3.5" drive. E3's so close yet so far...

ah i've been saying this for many years now and its all happening......2005-2006 are the years that Nintendo truly fights back.

My heart once again swell's with pride after many years of seeing the greatest company ever to have grace this planet beat down.

I just stacked 3 dvd cases and held them in my hands for comparison.

very impressive if true. That is smaller than the Mac Mini (maybe)

Props to Mister Johnny

And that's where the deal with Matrix Semiconductor could come into play (solid state drives). That's be so unbelievably awesome, but too costly I'd wager at this point (in 2006).

Nintendo, struggling to shed an image that its technologies mostly appeal to children, is preparing to deliver a game console that is radically different from the cute and cuddly GameCube.

Perrin Kaplan, Nintendo's vice president for corporate affairs, said GameCube's successor would be "very, very sleek." She described it as horizontal and no taller than a stack of three DVD cases.

Unlike GameCube, the new system will play DVD's, Ms. Kaplin said, and will feature a wireless controller. It will play GameCube games as well as a new class of high-definition games, with new emphasis on online play.

1 inch.......
oh no! Nintendo!! except revolution, I also want power!

Hmmm.... 1 inch can't be right.

I put 3 DVD cases together and I got 1.75 inches.

In any case I think they are trying to match the size of the PSTwo, which is about 1.1 inch thick.
