This will finally kill Sony once and for all.
A little stronger than base ps5 then unless valve is able to make use of the dual issue some how with Steam osnope. the PS5 Pro tflops are without dual issue FP32, the one of the 7600 are with dual issue FP32. so basically cut the 7600 number in half
Honestly same I guess, tired of consoles getting higher and higher prices, exclusivities are totally dead (outside of Nintendo, for now), I've a Steam library of 650+ games (and some people call me "anti PC", even though I was already playing on PC when they were still in the balls of their trans moms).Okay probably day one, if it is as powerful as a PS5 Pro or even more

i think it will be a niche product like the steam deck.If Valve can put out a prebuilt PC that immediately has access to a ton of games, play them at a decent graphical level and can easily hook up to a TV and if they sell it at a decent price then it has serious potential. It'd be a great gateway into PC land and once you're in the environment, buying new hardware doesn't erase your old stuff.
The Steam Machines were a poor idea because there was no unified build (among other things).
Steam machine 2.0.
It wouldn't be exclusive to Steam os, just the Steam store in generalExcept now Steam treats their hardware like Steamdeck which are unique solutions and optimized for costs, rather than letting 3rd parties build with OEM
Slight important fucking detail
If they launch Half-Life 3 exclusive to SteamOS devices…

Yea steam system that's the same price as ps5 and xboxThis has potential. I think there's a decent # of gamers who would like to have access to the Steam library but don't want to build a gaming PC or buy some overpriced pre-built.
That is all antithetical to their business model.Except now Steam treats their hardware like Steamdeck which are unique solutions and optimized for costs, rather than letting 3rd parties build with OEM

Don't worry. It's not a console.PC players tripping over themselves for a console?
Something isn't adding up…
i dont think there is that much for that scenario. This has potential. I think there's a decent # of gamers who would like to have access to the Steam library but don't want to build a gaming PC or buy some overpriced pre-built.

Maybe it will be 400$not with that GPU imo. you can build a way more balanced system with a 9060 XT for around $800, maybe $850. and that's just the part prices, while a Steam Console would have the benefit of being subsidised by bringing customers to steam and being mass produced to this spec.
Maybe it will be 400$
Yes, it's too low, but it's likely an engineering sample being tested.8gb seems a bit low for a modern GPU framebuffer (7600) maybe it will have higher configurations?
Keeps the price down. Doesn't need to be a monster. It's a convenient TV box with console UI and fully functional with a controller. Gonna be the bomb.Weaker than a PS5 Pro.

Like forcing Half Life 2 to be on steam store for PC back in the days? Yea valve don't care
1Guys, make it easy for me please? How many PS5s should I duct tape to get this level of performance?
you think they want steam os exclusivity? How does that benefit them? while every other platform is starting to emulate steam, valve should now try to emulate PlayStation? Wouldn't the move be to make steam as platform agnostic as possible?Like forcing Half Life 2 to be on steam store for PC back in the days? Yea valve don't care
If you don't join in on PCMR bullshit and suck each other off 24/7 while calling console users retards then you don't belong.Honestly same I guess, tired of consoles getting higher and higher prices, exclusivities are totally dead (outside of Nintendo, for now), I've a Steam library of 650+ games (and some people call me "anti PC", even though I was already playing on PC when they were still in the balls of their trans moms).
All Xbox games on it, all PS games on it (with little and little delay), emulation, Gamepass... yeah I'm in.

The best part is that you can still use it like a regular desktop PC if you want to, but it's going to be like the Steam Deck where this "Steam Box" will boot into Big Picture Mode.Keeps the price down. Doesn't need to be a monster. It's a convenient TV box with console UI and fully functional with a controller. Gonna be the bomb.
No sensible person wants to go through the hassle of building a custom PC box and keep a wireless m&k nearby for the occasional configuration annoyance. Total neckbeard shit.
We all have Steam back logs and living rooms. I may or may not buy this but it's definitely interesting.
Reminder: their most recently released hardware (Steam Deck OLED) is incredibleReminder: this is not the first time Steam has tried hardware.

Can Valve buy Microsoft?
I'm assuming you are talking about Steam Machines?Reminder: this is not the first time Steam has tried hardware.

Microsoft's game division puts all their games on steam store, what's the gain?
I think Valve likes being slim.
I think the only thing I've ever heard about the Steam deck is people like that it's portable. None of the friends I have care about this as they have a PC.I'm assuming you are talking about Steam Machines?
When Valve tried Steam Machines they did not have something like SteamOS in the state that it's in currently. If a game didn't have a native Linux port it didn't work on Steam Machines, but now we don't have that problem as the vast majority of stuff works without issues. PC gaming in general also wasn't in the state it's in now.
Valve has already proved that they can make great hardware and software that people want with the Steam Deck. This is essentially just transferring the Steam Deck/Steam OS experience to a console-esque tv box.
