What?You should.
BoF 4 is better than BoF 2.
It appears to have been a Japan/European only release. I was also surprised as I thought GoG might have gotten into console emulation. There was a PC version of this game released back in the day? How'd I miss that? That is cool GoG re-released the game. Maybe a Breath of Fire collection will follow later on down the road.
do it!!!!! Use Heroic Launcher! So it seems you can install GOG games om the steam deck.
I might dip in
Thanks!do it!!!!! Use Heroic Launcher!
Dang, the font is.....Word of warning - looks like the visual fidelity's worse than the PS1 original. From my understanding, the game looks about on par with the original PC release but is notably worse than the PS1.
Below are a couple screenshots from Dragnier, which compares the PS1 and original PC release, and below that I've included a couple more screenshots I took. The fault seems to be with bilinear filtering: It's smoothing over textures in the environment and on sprites and leaving that cheap-looking black outline around sprites. Also, Capcom replaced some of the fonts with jarring HD alternatives (that are only sometimes applied; why?! this is reminiscient of the FF Pixel Remaster fiasco only 20+ years before it):

Unfortunately there are no real video options in this release (unsurprisingly; it's budget). Dragnier suggests using a program to enforce point-filtering, and the comparison screenshots they show (same webpage that I linked to) are a substantial improvement. Don't know what to do about the shitty HD font though.
the sprites look worse but I honestly prefer the filtering on the textures.Word of warning - looks like the visual fidelity's worse than the PS1 original. From my understanding, the game looks about on par with the original PC release but is notably worse than the PS1.

apply some CRT reshade on it and done, it ll look better ( this is emulated btw )Word of warning - looks like the visual fidelity's worse than the PS1 original. From my understanding, the game looks about on par with the original PC release but is notably worse than the PS1.

To be fair these are all easy to emulate and BoF 3 has a PSP version with better graphics. So now there's a modern way to play 1 and 2 (via Switch NSO) and 4 (via GoG). No 3 though...

1.0 hotfix4 changelog:
1.0 hotfix3 changelog:
- Fixed audio engine inaccurate panning (noticeable in the opening cutscene).
1.0 hotfix2 changelog:
- Fixed higher than expected CPU utilization (thanks Xeshra for the feedback).
- Added a PSX-like graphics option with the newly available "Point sampled" texture filtering to make the gorgeous pixel art stand out even more. The "Bilinear" texture filtering option has also been implemented.
Just update to the newest version and you now have the option to use Point Blank to get crisp visuals, I think the HD font is better.
Call me surprised, didn't expect Capcom to do anything extra. I will definitely check this out.Just update to the newest version and you now have the option to use Point Blank to get crisp visuals, I think the HD font is better.
Capcom is doing nothing, GOG is developing this version.Call me surprised, didn't expect Capcom to do anything extra. I will definitely check this out.
And based GOG.Based Capcom.
My dream woman is one with no GOG reflex .And based GOG.
Oh, that's pretty damn awesome.Capcom is doing nothing, GOG is developing this version.
Nice and easy yeah right. It freezes on anything larger than a few gig. And now it won't load sync anything. It's bad. I am afraid to mess with it as I have heroes of might and magic 3 installed and I don't want to mess that up. Steams version of homm3 is the ubisoft HD version that is missing the expansions. Also a fair point. Heroic keeps all the 3rd party stuff together. Nice and easy
