I am unfamiliar with the British election system ... are these results worse than expected for the Remain campaign or expected to be offset by more Remain-leaning regions like London?

Forty-one authorities out of 382 have so far declared their results.

Leave currently has 1,438,695 votes.
Remain currently has 1,292,093 votes.

It’s expected that 16.8 million votes will be needed for one side to win.

So a ways to go yet but Wales is a surprise.

Ozford and Lembeth came in and killed off 100k lead by leave, I hope this is a sign of things to come, its getting closer.

From what I can gather...

UK's left wing sticks head in sand and denies real problems related to immigration and integration.

This pushes moderates concerned about their safety into the hands of extreme nationalists who threaten the global economy.

UK's left wing, rather than reforming policies on immigration and admitting areas where they fucked up, will once again stick their head in the sand and just call their opponents' racists.

Is this about right?

I am VERY surprised this is trending to leave. You hope the proponents of this will learn a lesson but that's a lesson everyone will have to suffer through together : (

I hope the EU takes this as a sign they REALLY need reform and to stop being dickheads about stuff such as the refugee situation and Greece/etc.

edit - if leave wins that is... which is looking more likely than it did.

Anyway what news sources are you using? My domestic ones are slooow

With London out of the EU the financial sector will rapidly migrate to the continent, hollowing out the City.

At the same time manufacturing will be cheaper on the continent as well because of the trade deals, so there goes that.

Take a day trip to the Irish Republic next week, because that's what a country like Great Britain but without a financial sector or a manufacturing base looks like in terms of economic success.

Leave side is going to have to go into overdrive to try and get the same kind of beneficial deals as before.
For my company...we're not happy. We're multinational and while only 15% of our product comes from the UK we have already calculated and started planning for how to replace that asap. Btw this isn't something that started recently. We've always looked at other places and found multiple replacements for our stuff from the UK.
