Capital is fleeing from the UK right now to other markets.

But under that situation would people really be fired tomorrow? That seems nuts.

Same with companies relocating. I know they probably planned for the possibility but that must take a lot of time to pull off.

I hope everyone on here who is affected ends up OK.

I understand you are angry and it sucks, you see this after every election, this will probably be more so, your mindset now should veer more towards

a) What more you could have done and how can you apply that in the future
b) What comes next and how to negotiate it as best as you can

You cant get angry at people for exercising their democratic process, you can be angry at the leaders, the people who misled them (if you feel they have been misled).

What happens if public opinion changes in the upcoming months? If the pound remains weak like this, if talks about Scotland wanting out of the UK would get more concrete again, ect leading more people come to realize that this might not have been a very smart move? Is there any chance the referendum could get repeated or that parliament decides to ignore the vote then (without risking a revolution :p) or is the decision already final with this referendum's result?

What revolution? No one is going to take up arms and overthrow a government. If I was Cameron I'd bin this whole thing based on the narrow margin, the currency drop, and the very real illustration of Scotland wanting to remain in the EU and threatening the union.

Just woke up to the great news!

The British people have told the Prime Minister and most of the country's MPs, not to mention most of the world's leaders to go fuck themselves, and it is glorious.

At what cost? Is countless people losing their jobs worth throwing a political temper tantrum?

Someone asked about the U.K. film industry - if Northern Ireland leaves it'll be dramatically affected. Best to wait and see what they do before considering planting roots, and where you wanted to be centralized at.

You forgot that they told the UK economy to go fuck itself too.

Well I bought Gold last week. I guess I'm happy. Will this rise in value last by opening tomorrow?

Nope, gold is going to remain a worthless commodity good with limited industrial and artistic uses.

It went up relative to the pound, but to be fair, so did literally everything in the world, so you probably won't get much benefit from that.

Yep domino effect incoming. Not sure if the EU will still be a thing in 2 years.

I'm French. We'll never have a referendum.

In France all the powers are in the hand of the president. Unless Marine Le Pen becomes president, we won't be leaving the EU anytime soon.

Remember that there's no western country in the World where the president has as much power as in France.

It's a case of them not even being able or willing to articulate a thought out position. Every time they've been confronted here they say "I don't have to explain myself", "We're making Britain great", "The rhetoric of the other side" or something very close to that. It's remarkable how similar they sound to Trump supporters, and god knows what their real motivations are.
No, it's just that most of us know we're not going to convince you, and also know you'll not change our minds, so it's kind of a waste of time.

The rest of the list we've told to fuck themselves :
The NHS
Scientists
People with Jobs
The Environment
Universities
The Film industry
Etc,

Glorious indeed!

Look at the fucking GDP right now and tell me it's great news for U.K. citizens. You haven't a clue.

You do realize this is because of the initial shock because no one really expected that result. It will obviously bounce back (not 100% also obvious).

Amazing and kind of a sad outcome. Hope none of my friends in the UK will be too badly affected by this (beyond general economic torpedoing)

Can only think that this will lead to Scotand leaving the UK.

Right, but Hillary also has historically high unfavorables. Just like Trump.

Look at the beginning of this thread. It's full of people that thought "Remain" would win because they live in liberal echo chambers like this forum.

Hillary *also* brings out hate-passion. Just like Trump. What will likely happen is that you'll have a bunch of people voting for the other candidate just so the other side doesn't win. OR... what I predict which is that you'll see very low overall voter turnout.

Trump's campaign is a disaster, but don't be like those people early in this thread who thought "Remain" was a shoo-in.

Hillary is a shoo in if voters come out to vote and they will because the people who hate Trump really hate him. I mean do these violent protests tell you nothing about the way people feel about Trump and his supporters?

I don't see much pushback against a second referendum tbh. There will be no "vow" this time, but I do think it will be an interesting debate for the Scots: be a big cog in an independent UK or be a small dog in the EU.

Well I think it's better than being isolated, it's not in our nature unlike England. Isolationism is not a Scottish trait, we are the exact opposite.

Only way to rejoin is by the permission of all the other current EU members I believe.

In Australia, we have an early election next week for federal government, I'm now freaking out how much of an impact this will have in influencing the final outcome of votes here.

I don't think there will be any direct impact on our election as our politics are quite removed from the mother ship. However the impacts on the ausconony are already being felt and that may well swing quite a few voterd.

This will be a bumpy few weeks for sure.

To all those impacted by this please hang in there, wait till the dust settles and then start making plans.

I was really hoping that this wouldn't pass. My condolences to UK GAF; I sincerely hope this doesn't end as catastrophically as it's shaping up to be, and that after the older generation starts to die off, the UK can join up with the EU again.

Not sure whether I'm more shocked or concerned for the future at this point.

I've lost nearly 1/4 of my income due to Sterling's plummet compared to the local currency. My hopes of getting a mortgage obliterated by morons in England/Wales who are willing to gamble with the lives of others and the good of the country for their racism.

What now? Scotland will almost certainly leave. Northern Ireland perhaps too. Is this the stronger UK you Leavers voted for?

J.K. Rowling slamming Cameron on Twitter for not only the breakup of the U.K. but Scotland as well, since we all know what Scotland is about to do.

Fuck off Rowling. This isn't the time for gloating from Labourites, especially since Corbin was useless in the fight for Remain.
