Ok, so I buy a tv from a friend of mine, but i accidentally broke the remote. Stupid!
What kind of idiot breaks a remote by telling his grandmother...anyway, now i can't
switch to video mode to play my dvd player or PS2. And for some reason, universal remotes don't work on it. Anybody know what I can do to make it work?

Depending on age and brand, you might be able to order a replacement remote from the company that built the set...

I don't know why universal remotes won't work. I mean, they change the channel, but i still can't switch to video.

Have you tried programming the universal remote's buttons to work with that TV?

Well, you can't just buy a universal and use it. It has to be programmed. It should tell you how in the instructions.

Correct! You must program input buttons! The volume/channel buttons are pretty much the same on every tv, so those are already programmed.

Universal remotes should come with a booklet containing codes for all the different brand name TVs, VCRs, etc. Depending on the remote, you might even be able to find codes online.
