Bryce Dallas Howard Was Pressured To Lose Weight For "Jurassic World: Dominion

TGO

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
Bryce Dallas Howard revealed that she was pressured to lose weight throughout her role in the Jurassic World franchise — because GOD FORBID there's someone who's not a size 0 in a movie with LITERAL DINOSAURS

Speaking to Metro about what her role in Jurassic World: Dominion might mean for women's representation in action movies, she explained, "What being in this third film allowed — how do I say this, how do I say this, how do I say this…[I've] been asked to not use my natural body in cinema."

In fact, Bryce said that director Colin Trevorrow had to come to her defense. "On the third movie, it was actually because there were so many women cast, it was something that Colin felt very strongly about in terms of protecting me," she continued. "The conversation came up again: 'We need to ask Bryce to lose weight.'"
She continued, "He was like, 'There are lots of different kinds of women on this planet, and there are lots of different kinds of women in our film,' and I got to do so many stunts that wouldn't have been possible if I had been dieting
Bryce added, "So I'm really thrilled [at] all the action I got to do, and I got to do it with my body. She was at her maximum strength, and I hope it is just yet another indication of what's possible
This comes a month after Bryce revealed that she was "paid so much less" than her male costar Chris Pratt for her role in the franchise. "When I started negotiating for Jurassic, it was 2014, and it was a different world, and I was at a great disadvantage. And unfortunately, you have to sign up for three movies, and so your deals are set," she explained
Bryce has also previously been candid about buying her own dresses for red carpets, since a lot of designers' sample size outfits — what you typically see celebs wear at events — do not go up to a US size 6. "I like having lots of options for a size 6, as opposed to maybe one option," she said back in 2016.

So I read this and I call bullshit
So apparently she says she is normally a size 6 🤔
And they ask her to lose weight Jurassic World: Dominion.
As I've seen the film I can say she is definitely not a size 6 or below in that.
Kate Moss was a size 6 in the 90's and this was her below that

In Jurassic World I'd say she is more a size 8 or 9
And normally?
Yeah she's definitely not a size 6 here

I mean I think she looked great regardless and I don't doubt they probably did ask her to lose some weight but this is definitely bullshit her normal size.

I think she is good looking and didn't need to lose weight.

As for pay I think there have been plenty of films where to woman made more than the man. Pay in movies is based on marketability. People will see a movie because of Pratt, not many would go because of Howard. I wonder if she could have got a backend deal. Where she could get a quarter percent of the gross.

That Kate moss pic is definitely not a 6. I had a gf who was a 2 and was not nearly that thin.
To be fair I probably grabbed a pick from her anorexic stage because I was in a rush for an example.
But on average Kate Moss was a size 6
But a size 6 is a 26 inch waist which Bryce definitely is not in any of those pictures or the film let alone smaller.

I think she looks fine regardless.
But the pay gap is a funny one.
Kirsten Dunst mention she got paid less then Tobey in the Spider-Man trilogy but failed to mention she earned 10 million more then James Franco

Arnold Schwarzenegger just came out and said "They made me put on a bunch of muscle to win Mr Olympia".

He didn't really. I was attempting a humor.

No one complains when they tell men to lose weight and get ripped for films. But as soon as they ask a woman to do it it's the end of the world.

She gained some weight after pregnancy I think. Not surprising they asked her to get fit before doing action stuff in an action movie. Can't deny Hollywoof will always go for the hotness either.

What I don't get is the double standard. It's perfectly fine to ask the men to av negative body fat and bulging muscles, but no exercise for the ladies? Don't get it.

Also. If she's upset about the paycheck she needs to compare how many blockbusters she's starred in vs Pratt. Come on now.

I'd agree if she was playing wonder women or Lara Croft, but for this part? Nah. Not really needed. She still looked cute.
I think in this situation when there is a returning character they are probably require to look like they did previously.
If that's a man or woman it doesn't matter.
The last thing you want in the headlines for your latest film isn't the actors weight lost or gain.

I see what your saying. But if we really want film to be realistic this is nothing to complain about. If anything I think it actually fits nice considering the huge time skip from the last movie.

I agree but you know the same journalists making these articles would be making one about her weight.

She bloated up a lot from the pregnancy. I understand wanting her to shrink back down for consistency's sake.

That said, we should end the double standard for sure. There's no reason for actors and actresses in certain roles to have to maintain peak fitness.

I haven't seen Dominion, but I thought she looked perfect in the first Jurassic World movie. I don't know if that was her 'natural' weight or not, but to me she had just the right amount of curves in that movie.

It's a looks business even today. If someone paid me millions and asked me to drop 15 pounds I'd be more than happy too. Slightly off-topic but I remember laughing when I saw how ripped Doctor Strange was in the latest movie. Why does that guy need to be jacked to play a wizard?

Oh no the horror.
Meanwhile Chriss Pratt to get considered for action roles

This

And she has the audacity to compare their salary.

Please. He used anabolics, for sure, but he put a lot of work to look the way he does.

Would he be considered for the role in JP, Guardians of the Galaxy and etc. if he was still fat?

You either adapt for the role or they will cast someone else, simple as that.

Her attractiveness brings in people and it's no secret that more people consider girls who weigh less to be more attractive. It still matters.

So what, many actors have been asked to put on or take off weight for many different roles. She had put a lot of weight on in recent years and they probably wanted her to lose some for consistency sake, and its as simple as that.

She would look hotter a few dress sizes smaller. But that's my taste. Her losing weight, wouldn't of made the films any more interesting or entertaining anyway, they'd still be average CGI tosh

Agreed Bryce looks like at least a 12 in that purple dress.

so, what if Pratt kept the beer belly and told the to fuck off?

My God, it's her job to keep fit, if I could do it with a newborn daughter, married, a very demanding job and back to college I'm sure she can do it.

She's in good company. Many of Hollywood's most respected method actors adapt to their roles.

that's not healthy.

alright there are people who will do shit like this and have professionals watching over them but it doesn't mean everyone should be comfortable doing it.

i'm a fucking fat cunt and if i was an actor and got hired to play a skinny cunt then there's no way i'm losing all the weight to land a job. they can go find a skinny bitch to get the role.

stop pressuring people to look a certain way. if they want to do it then fine but don't fuck with them.

She obviously wanted to do it. She could have quit if she felt so strongly about it.

the title literally say's she was pressured.

i'd feel pressured if my employer told me to lose weight or i'd get fired. if i lost weight on my own then fine but you don't know what the fuck people are dealing with. you shouldn't pressure anyone into anything.

I don't think they can force you to take the role, she could always refuse. If she signed a contract about sequels, that's probably on her.
true about contracts but still if she had kids and her mental health changed it's not really fair to force her. they should come to an agreement.

She could have still quit. She chose the money. As would most.

Keep in mind guys this isn't so much about whether they pressured her to lose weight and if it was right or wrong.
More so that according to the articles she was a size 6(26inch waist) and they pressured her to lose weight.
Which I'm calling bull shit
I reckon she was about a 12-14, maybe a 10
And she was asks to lose weight which she did to about a 8-9 and this is an over-exaggeration by either the interviewer or Bryce herself.

She didnt have to do it, but she took the money. They may not of even replaced her if she refused, but she didnt so.

I have also put weight on over Covid, and i dont realy like it. You may be happy with your fatness, but its not attractive, end of story.

It's part of the gig, like a prize fighter. That said, her role in the films doesn't really call for her to look one way or another. It's not like she needed to show flesh and look sexy for the role. But anyway, the paycheck is large enough that I think it's hard to call the physical requirements unfair. It's not a McDonalds telling her to lose weight for minimum wage. Besides, it's a visual art form.

Well
I guess so. Not to me personally. I'd rather sit and watch porn if I want to see a hot chick on screen.

Yup. Also Im sure he isn't as fit all the time, specially if he doesn't have to do a shirtless scenes.

But he clearly maintains a level of fitness to keep the action roles coming his way.

She is a millionaire (with a famous daddy too), in a role in a shitty blockbuster action movie where half her job is looking good (just like, gasp!, her male costar).

She's not a cashier in a supermarket worrying she won't be able to afford rent if she doesn't loose weight because of a whim from her boss.

There are jobs where there's certain expectations regarding your physical appearance and/or fitness. If you don't like the pressure of staying fit then don't work in the field.

She probably also had to be close to match her stunt double, which again isn't a size 6 or below
