Bungie Update: new game nearing completion?

http://www.bungie.net/News/TopStory.aspx?story=weeklyupdateaug05&p=4292692

IP stuff is actually kind of busy too, with new action figures on the way, an as yet-unrevealed but AWESOME project nearing completion (more on that in a month or two)
Wow, they really have produced a new game, which is nearing completion, without any leaks at all about it? Incredible, I'd say...

What will it be? Halo 3 or a new IP? The mysterious Phoenix project maybe? I guess it will be unveiled during X05. And I'm wondering what "nearing completion" means... will it be ready for X360 launch window?

Maybe it's that zombie game? It's fallen off the radar so I wouldn't be surprised if it was bumped up to the XBox360

Since he is speaking about IP related marchandise (action figures, t-shirts, ....), it's probably Master Chief Pillow.

I don't think Stubbs the Zombie is made by Bungie...

Stubbs the Zombie is not made by Bungie. It uses Halo engine but it's made by Alexander Seropian's Wideload Games.

It could be Phoenix, I think it's a sort of fantasy/medieval action game... there were some artworks about it going around in january...

These are not officially identified with Phoenix, but were posted by a Bungie designer on its own site saying that are concepts from their new project:

Sorry for the watermarks, but they're from my site... I didn't find them on other sites.

In case you guys didn't read the Update, the "project nearing completition" seems to be an IP related thing - some merchandise. He mentions the new game before he starts to talk about merchandise, and the project near completition is in mid between action figures and T-Shirts.

My five cents.

Thanks. Yeah, you're right - I remember that now

Nobody seems to be listening fellas. Common sense is lost so people can fantasize and babble on about some non-existant game.

Can't ever say it enough, so:

It's a Halo toys, 'Bungie shop', or otherwhilse Halo franchise 'gimmicks' related thing, not a game!

No reason to believe it's a game. Move along people.

And those of you who believe (after the 360 debacle) that Microsoft is capable of keeping a secret are out of your minds.

Project Phoenix has been canceled loooong ago.
Yes I know, but recently (november 2004) Entertainment Weekly hinted that it was resurrected after Halo 2 completion. And then there was those artworks I remember being diffused in january, but I don't know if they were older. However, I don't think bungie would call "awesome" and be so exited about a merchandising project, they're a software house so I think they're talking about a game. However, we'll see...

Teaser: Work is proceeding apace on our next project, whatever that may be.

This is the only thing Bungie said about a game in their update. Nothing to see here.

If even it was project phoenix (and it's not), it would mean that they have been working on the game for less than one year. Not nearly enough time for Bungie to create a full game.

At best, we'll see an early teaser of Bungie's first Xbox 360 game at X05. Until then don't expect to see anything new game wise from Bungie.

yup. that "AWESOME project" could be anything, but it definietly sounds merchandise related. i'll dream its a brand new trailer for x05 however ;)

It's the long rumored Halo 2.5. That's why there are two SKUs. The normal package and one with Halo 2, 40GB HD and a 2nd controller.

Or maybe not... :lol

Halo 2 Soundtrack Vol.2

i hope you'reright. there hasnt been real news on that in quite some time... other then marty saying it may not happen at all do to legal issues...

Maybe it has to do with features that were rumored to be in Halo 2 like online co-op or deathmatch replays. I don't think these were ever officially revealed. Could be a last hurrah for Halo 2 (and Microsoft and Bungie) on the Xbox.

does the project have to be a new video game... read it again... it doesnt apply that a new game is being made... just a bungie product that seems to be "awesome".

IP stuff is actually kind of busy too, with new action figures on the way, an as yet-unrevealed but AWESOME project nearing completion (more on that in a month or two) and even a gang of T-Shirts. Our Zanzibar T-Shirt was a big hit at the recent G-Phoria awards - Here's the T-Shirt - and ladies love its retro styling. Dudes can get the dude version at Hot Topic and a few other places. What's awesome is watching the realization dawn on folks' faces as they recognize the big turbine wheel from the level. Chicks love it when dudes wear 'em. And they want to make out with us all the time. But we're all, "Get off me, I got to play Rumble Preview to get my level up." And then they're all, "You're so dreamy."

The update on their next game is, "we're working on it." The IP update is, "we've got some t-shirts plus something cool coming soon. "

:lol

I hope eventually they do come up with some new IPs. I don't want to be playing Halo 12 ten years from now.

They will pull of a square-enix and will realese a new marathon game (same genre-different Ip's, That's fine for me I don't get bored with the FPS :D )

Can someone please make a game based on these? Very nice.

I quoted you, but it was directed at most people in this thread.

And curse your sarcasm! Went right over my head. :)
