Bungie's Marathon set for April 12th reveal

Honestly it looks more fun than Destiny. They initially sold that game as shared world and exploration based. The story was also hyped up. We know where that went.

With Marathon its clear that its an extraction shooter, it doesn't pretend anything else. I wouldn't pay for it, but it might be fun for a few rounds. Gameplay looks fast and slick. Art looks bad, I like the futuristic approach but this looks overdone and blocky as if its an indie game.

Stream looks god awful though, not the best way to sell your game.

- How much grain do we want guys?

It's hard to know what I looking at...

Oh yeah it's 100% of the bullshit I hate. Hard pass for me but good luck converting apex and tarkov players.

I thought it looked cool, most people still don't know extraction shooter types and I think its selling it well with this 3d printed future. Art is something drastic, so it is something you get used too and if you can turn off chromatic abbreviation it will look fine.

I'm a huge, HUGE appreciator and enjoyer of Bungie's FPS mechanical shooting and movement design, it's genuinely unmatched. But I strongly believe this will fail, and be catastrophic for the company. Sad times.

I really like Tarkov. So this genre is great for me. I will need to get used to the artstyle. Very geometric and I wonder if the text on literally everything is actually helpful in any way. Also what is the map like? Do we know where we are at all times? Or is it like Tarkov where you need to figure out your location or go from memory

The problem is that this is obviously a corporate pushed project meant to be released on every single platform. So yeah, scalability. The graphics won't be anything special.

Its another shot at delivering a GaaS game that will last, such as Fortnite and Apex. But you can already see Marathon won't be easy to get into. And I think the art direction doesn't have the widespread appeal of Fortnite and Apex. But we'll see, Sony obviously learnt from Concord which is why they didn't start with a stupid CG movie at a SoP. But I wonder what their expectations are, because I can't see it sustain.
