The way I see it:

Did the buyer ask for it to be removed to lower cost - buyer's fault

Did the seller take it off, without being asked, to lower cost just to make the sale - seller's fault

If every postal system in the world offered it for 50¢, I would have more sympathy for this view. Mailing a letter from Japan to the US: about 95¢. Mailing it with tracking: $16.00 minimum.

Pretty much. International shipments skyrocket in price if you want any sort of reliable tracking or insurance.

It's why I don't bother after encountering several issues.

I can send something the size of a game tracked and insured to anywhere in the world for less than 6€ ($7) from Germany. Sounds like that's not the case in most other locations

I've only had to file a claim once with USPS. An item got broken during shipping so I filed a claim. I never heard back from them once I submitted the claim online, so I figured either they were just ignoring me and not going to pay me out. A few weeks passed and I was getting to the point where I was going to actually go to a post office and start asking questions and all of a sudden a check arrived in the mail for my claim amount. They never asked for proof that the item was damaged or anything. I was really surprised.
