Buying a 4K TV for PS4K thread!

Does this mean the best suggestion is to wait then? Until OLED response time goes down? Will it ever?

I only buy a TV every five years or so, I don't upgrade often. Heia heia!
I'm in the exact same boat as you.

I want amazing picture quality, 4K, HDR, and low input lag - and I don't swap out my TV every other year. Price is not really a factor, as long as I feel that it's worth it. The thing is, I would have bought an LG C6/E6 already if it was possible to have HDR in game mode. It's not, and the input lag with HDR activated is simply too high. Without HDR, though, the input lag is fine - with 34 ms. It looks as if they aren't going to implement HDR in game mode via a firmware update for the 2016 models, so right now it looks like I'll wait until next year. By then, the new OLED models will most likely to output HDR in Game Mode, and have lower input lag.

The Samsung is tempting, with good contrast, decent blacks and great input lag, but it's simply not an OLED. Since I'm going to keep the TV I'm buying for years - I'll hold off until next year. I want an OLED, but input lag is a major factor for me.

I am shocked that there has not been one post on the Vizio P tv. which seems to have amazing specs, is cheaper, and is coming out with a update to make the input lag in the 30 range

I own the P65 and just ordered a 65KS8000.

I don't think they're able to get HDR input lag down to 30ms, if I understand correctly from some of Matt McRae's (Vizio CTO) posts on avsforum, they were working on a firmware update to bring this into the high 50's. I might be mistaken though.

I'm going to try to sell my P65, or keep it as a second TV for the bedroom or basement. Overall, pretty happy with the TV but it leaves a lot to be desired for day-to-day cable viewing - doesn't particularly handle motion well with sports and upscaled 720p/1080i content from cable is soft. It's likely the better set for dedicated movie viewing at night, due to the full-array local dimming.

And with the EPP deal, you can't argue that it's cheaper anymore.

I went to my condo trash room and saw a box for the 65inch Samsung 8000. Hopefully they got it on this deal.

It's so tempting but I want to wait until CES. I'll pick up a new TV during the summer.

side question about TV shows in 4k - netflix and amazon video do some but I think its all original stuff? I know the networks don't currently have 4k channels but I wonder if there are any plans for them to shoot shows in 4k for potential future availability on VOD platforms like netflix?

Is Planet Earth 2 being shot in 4k?

I'm worried my order for the 55" KS8000 didn't go through. It looks like my card was charged and there's also a second transaction pending (but doesn't include the sales tax). If there was a second order then I'd like to cancel it before it ships, but I only received one confirmation e-mail from Samsung and I don't want to cancel the order if there's only one that went through.

As to the confirmation e-mail I received, I got an order # but I'm unable to track the order or see any mention of it in my account on Samsung's website. Has anyone else had a similar issue? Does it just take a while for orders to show up online?

Yep, love it so far. Input lag hasn't been an issue with the games I've tried. My only complaint are the fairly poor black levels. I wish they were darker, but they're passable.

played with the calibration? Might be able to squeeze more out of it if you can lower the backlight or experiment with the auto dimming options.

Haven't yet, was planning on experimenting a little with it later today. I've heard you can mess with the calibration a little to make it come out a bit better.

As a Canadian, I am very jealous of you guys getting the ks8000 so cheap! It's almost unbelievable.

I'm Canadian and I bought it from the Samsung Direct Site.

I use reship to give me a US shipping address and then they just forward it to my home address in Canada.

It seems the UK KS7000 (USA KS8000) has dropped to around £1099 from £1299 across the board. £1000 is my breaking point, buy not sure if I can be bothered waiting now. The temptation to have it ready for Thursday is too tempting.

Buy it from Currys using the topcashback link, get 10.5% cashback on TVs over £1000 and currys are also doing a £30 off code.

Winner winner, chicken dinner.

I'll shamelessly leave my topcashback signup referral link too https://www.topcashback.co.uk/ref/dbt85

Agree, it's a cracking set. I've not had any issues with input lag either on any of the HDR games I've tried. You can change the black level in the picture settings btw.

So I think that I might know what's up with this... I noticed yesterday after I ordered that if I just straight-up went to shop.samsung.com and logged in, I didn't see that I had any orders! BUT, if I went there via clicking through from the perksatwork site, I was able to see my order just fine. So give that a shot if you haven't tried that already!

Not sure about that second transaction pending... I still just have the one. I hope that it all works out for you, though!

Cheers mate. What's the £30 off code? The only one I can see is a couple of offer of £30 off a Samsung UHD Blu Ray players here http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/blu-ray-tv-dvd-voucher-codes-361-commercial.html (unless I'm being blind or it's elsewhere).

Edit: found it, it was TV30 and on the product page itself

Hmm... we'll I don't know what's going on with that, but I called and was told everything should be fine since I got a confirmation e-mail. She also said she was only seeing one charge so hopefully everything will go smoothly.

Hi guys

Just made a reservation on the this model from LG - 55UH605V. I am a little worried, because of the lack of reviews, test, information about the HDR capabilities and indication of input lag.

Anyone with experience with this model or some information on the big web somewhere?

Thank you in advance.

Just picked up the Sony XBR65X850D. Downloading the latest update (I assume it's the HDR). I am a Sony whore so I hope it's a good set! Ready for the Pro!

The KS8000 is now 1179 at Costco.

Since I just spent 1279 on 10/27 I'll be asking for an adjustment today :)

http://www.costco.com/Samsung-55"-C...-LCD-TV-UN55KS800DFXZA.product.100290949.html

Ya the 55 is on sale. I was just in Costco yesterday and it was sitting in the doorbuster position just inside at under 1000... 979 I believe it was. This is in the San Diego area.

The 65" was still priced at 1679, and their upcoming sale (11/18) is only going to lower that by 200, so I am completely stoked I got in on this for 1279. It's like getting my PS4 Pro for free.

Anyone having an issue receiving shipping confirmation? I got an e-mail that it's been "shipped" by AGS (never heard of this company) but when I visit the site and enter the tracking number, nothing. I called Samsung Customer Service, they referred me to the shipper. I call the shipper, they say they don't have my order in the system.

They basically said it could take a while to update the info, but I ordered this thing 4 days ago and until now I have zero indication on when to expect the order to be shipped. No estimate or anything. I'll be out of town this week so it sucks to not know when to expect it and at least have someone home at the time it's supposed to arrive.

I only ordered yesterday morning but nope.... I got an order confirmation email and they charged my card, that's still all I know. I had already read stories here of the demand causing backorders, so i'm not surprised. I'm just glad I have an order number, and I got it at this price.

Over at slickdeals this sort of thing is traditionally known as the "slickdeals effect"

So are there any affordable 4K HDR TVs in the UK at the moment? I've had a look around and there seem to be plenty of them in the £400-£600 price range but from what I've read they aren't true HDR (10-bit) screens.

Crazy. My card shows the charge as 'pending' still, but being on backorder makes sense. I'm actually not in a rush to get it so no biggie. But after spending $1K+ I'd like to know when to expect my stuff lol.

It takes roughly one business day for Samsung to ship. Card already charged. If you ordered Friday onwards, expect the sets to ship on Monday or Tuesday. Doesn't say anything abiut backordered for me.

That's what has me wondering...I ordered on Wednesday. The charge still shows as pending on my Discover. This is what has happened so far:

Wednesday:
Order confirmation e-mail - 4:03pm EST
Discover card - No activity

Thursday:
No e-mail from Samsung
Discover Card - Shows pending charge for full amount

Friday:
Shipping confirmation e-mail - 7:41pm EST - Tracking "no info found"
Discover Card - Shows pending charge for full amount

Saturday:
No e-mail from Samsung - Tracking "no info found"
Discover Card - Shows pending charge for full amount

Sunday:
No e-mail from Samsung - Tracking "no info found"
Discover Card - Shows pending charge for full amount

I called Samsung today, they told me to call the shipper, the shipper told me "I see nothing in the system under this tracking number, could just be we'll get it next week, call back"

Kinda making me feel like it'll just take another business day for everything to register, but the fact my card hasn't been fully charged seems weird, even though I can see the charge pending. Don't recall any other purchase taking this long to register, but then again I don't count the days on smaller everyday purchases either.

Whatever for now.

I purchased the Hisense H8 50" TV from Best Buy a few months ago (The colors are great and the picture is sharp) It already received an update that enabled HDR through it's HDMI port. I'm getting a PS4 Pro day 1 so I'll let everyone know how it plays on this TV.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/hisense...h-dynamic-range-black/4982500.p?skuId=4982500

I know it's an entry level 4K TV but it's a good one in my opinion.

This is the same as the 6290/6300 essentially. It has HDR but it doesn't support WCG which makes it so it's not really true HDR.

Not a bad set at all though. 4k TV's have finally hid the previous level 1080p pricing.
