Call-Of-Duty-Black-Ops-6 |OT| Even the Truth Lies Apparently Phil.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Not a complaint just an observation. And I am lost.

That is Woods, a prominent mainstay in all the Black Ops games, if this is your first one, I'd recommend checking out a recap video or two for the previous games.

Nah im with you, the spazzed out movement and quickscoping are the worst aspects of modern cod.

The recent MW2 was the best CoD has felt in the last like decade but zoomers are the loudest about how much they hate having to think before they jump into a room spamming their meta smg.

MWII bled players and almost killed Warzone.

Thats why they pretty much reversed course and fixed everything resulting in the excellent MWIII

This has been the norm in competitive shooters since pro quake players started destroying texture quality with r_picmip to sqeeze out every frame possible in the mid 90s

Glorious.

If I could do the same to CoD and get rid of the gun model altogether I would and it's annoying because I know those console commands are in there somewhere...

The movement feels so good in zombies, even in third person, MWZ could be a bit wonky at times when using it; it's like it was made with zombies in mind first lol

Pardon my ignorance, but how do I start the game with PC game pass? I click play in the Xbox app and then it takes me to the Call of Duty app, but all I see are options to buy the game

can't you select the things you want to install?

I’m torn.

I do like it, and it is enjoyable. But it does tend to dilute gameplay. There’s going to be a lot of sliding shotgun nonsense.

Really improves Zombies though.

Shotgun apes annoy the piss out of me in destiny. Not looking forward to shotgun apes in other games.

But all the design choices of the earlier CoDs were based around it being a military shooter. The new movement just feels incongruent to the setting and the rest of the game.

You can now jump off 30ft drops while receiving almost no fall damage and spam slide 15ft at a time. It’s just too goofy and annoying. Even for CoD.
i'm not even up to date but from what i understand that's because it's black ops not modern warfare canon. but we've still seen fruity movement aspects in older MW titles like infinite which had all kinds of titan fall like gravity boosting or whatever. basically it's just more evidence the entire series is just a huge cash grab and what they think will work the best and they have no shame in chasing it regardless of how inconsistent and how much it might alienate people who have come to expect a certain style of gameplay.

Some of the sequences that can occur in multiplayer feel like straight out of an action movie.

The game is very good, I think they can easily lean on this for a 2 year cycle if they wanted to...

it's a bastardized quake at this point. took them 20 years to finally come around to realizing twitch shooters are the most fun and what keep people playing and moving away from boring ass slow camp fests. but it doesn't go with the whole CoD vibe, which has always been sniper based slow ass camping, and hiding in corners 🤷🏼‍♂️

Indeed, it's still quite different from Quake, but I concur that it's closer to that than any prior CoD installment... and it does produce very satisfying gameplay overall.

Say I just want to play MP on my ps5.

No campaign, no zombies, no war zone, etc.

When I buy the game how much GB will I have to install?

If it’s above 100GB I’ll just try on my pc for game pass. I can’t justify 200+GB for one game in my PS5

My left stick is not going to like this press to run nonsense needed for all the new movement.

Has to be said though, I was expecting the worst - people jumping everywhere a la Max Payne - but so far it’s been fairly normal.

I hear DLSS is broken in the game and gives bad performance. Any PC player that can atest to that?
What I ran into wasn't that DLSS was broken, it's that the game defaults to "Nvidia Image Upscaler".... which actually isn't DLSS even though I thought it was initially. In the drop-down list, you need to select DLSS. Went from maxed out settings getting 50-60 FPS with crazy aliasing, to 120 FPS with very stable, smooth image like we're used to. Not sure if this is what's happening for others, but it caught me out.

Finished the campaign, although I think it's better than nu-MW2 and 3, I still think it was pretty mid ngl.
The story is nothing special, you have that (quite strange imo) mission where you find out about Case's origin, and then it barely matters to the story at all, the open missions while miles ahead of MW3's, still felt like filler to me, the villain was super predictable...
Overall I think Cold War was way better than this, and then there's the whole Gulf War and Bush/Clinton/Hussein marketing shenanigans they did which also barely mattered for the story. Idk, I guess I was expecting a bit more emphasis on the Gulf War and less open-world missions, I miss being a grunt and playing in famous battles among big armies.

Oh well, for 12$ I can't complain too much, it was worth the money imo.

But I still think nu-MW's campaign is the best one COD has had in a decade.

Said fuck it and decided to free up space on my Xbox anyway. Huge ass download, but I keep hearing really good things about the campaign.

I have 6 hours clocked on the game, played on hardened.
The safehouse has quite a few puzzles that I haven't finished though, I'll come back to it next week and probably put a few more hours in.

Game Pass version is a bit bugged for me. Keeps crashing. Going to wait for a patch.

I'm almost 3~ hours and I'm just at 2 story missions done, spent quiet a bit exploring around the safehouse mansion. Probably gonna be 8~10 hours for me by the end, which is A-OK for a shooter like this.

Doing the missions slowly, exploring around for the safe's and money drops in the missions too.

Took me about 8 hours and still have a lot of side missions to complete

It crashed several times on me as well especially first few times I tried to boot it up

Is it doing this preloading shaders thing every time you start it up as well? I noticed that it doesn't stop you from continuing on to the game. I should probably be more patient and let it finish, but damn....why is it every time? lol

Also played the GP version, had 1 crash.
I've seen reports about upscaling being broken, I played with DLAA and only saw a few visual glitches here and there, nothing major.
In terms of performance I didn't even try to benchmark anything, maxxed it out and played with no issues, but I doubt my experience is very indicative, with a 4080S and 5800X3D I'd be surprised if I wasn't able to brute force performance out of a Call of Duty game even if the optimization is not the best.

It did that preloading shaders a couple of times and would crash as the game would minimize and seem like it closed and wouldn't let me restart it

I finally walked away from it and let it go and it was up and running when I came back like 15 minutes later

Yeah.....this ain't normal. I've never seen a game have to do this every single time it starts. No worries. I'll play something else in the meantime.

Yeah, I'm not complaining about the duration of the campaign, it was within what I expected.
It's just that many missions and story bits didn't click for me. It's quite telling when the highlight of the campaign for me was a moment when NIN was playing in the background :messenger_tears_of_joy:
