I actually had fun playing BLOPS1. The AK74u is probably one of my favorite guns in CoD next to the AK47 in CoD4. I didn't play MW3 too much. That was my least played CoD title by far. I'm even tempted to buy the season pass to keep myself busy this next month. I've been trying to hold out but I really want to play some of the remakes.

Honestly I've enjoyed every CoD, I really don't see why people hate on the series so much. If you compare MW1 to BO2 they're so different, and so many improvements have been made yet trolls will always say "LOL IT'S THE SAME GAME". I generally only play a new CoD for 3 - 4 months though, after that I've had my fill for the year, which is probably why I'm always hungry for the next one.
Is it my shitty connection (which is shitty) or has the matchmaking server been kinda awful this week? I only get put into horrible matches with unplayable lag every night... I can still play around it and it works out because I'm working on guns I hate (SMR, SCAR) so I wouldn't be doing very well anyway, but still. Annoying.
That said, I would like for them to switch back to the original netcode and basically fire the entire IW team, since MW3 was like the worst game ever made and is not inspiring confidence in Ghosts. Please let them have hired better map designers, at least...
Yeah, the "it's the same game" shit is the complaint that makes the least sense to me. Of course it is! Why would I want CoD to suddenly be, like, a resource-based RTS? I want it to be that exact blend of fast action, small maps and twitch gameplay; that's exactly why I line up every november. Doesn't mean I'm a boring person or whatever the argument is, I like lots of different things, but when it comes to competetive online FPS, I want CoD to just be CoD. I don't want continent-sized maps, 256 players and dozens of vehicles; I want the exact opposite and that's what this franchise provides.

I've noticed these problems this week. I've also heard others complaining about this. I'm not sure what's going on. I usually do pretty well in TDM but I've been getting wrecked this week. I'm getting matched up with people who don't even speak English(not hating) which makes me think something is wrong with the NAT in game even though I have it set to best. I figured the matchmaking would be region based.
It's speed based, it polls the various games. Since fewer people seem to be playing at the moment, there must be fewer options, I've been meeting a lot of mainland Europe players recently, previously it was mostly UK.
Ah that makes sense. When I play during the week it's usually from 1600-1730 EST. I've been playing with quite a few Brits and then I'm assuming people from Spain.

Also I should add that the clans may be cross-platform this time around but there is a member limit of 100 for some reason. The PS3 clan has 63 members as of right now and I'm sure I'll be adding to that number once the game is actually released. Therefor, we had to have a different clan name so I went with NewGAF

Been playing a lot this weekend to capitalize on double XP and I've come to two conclusions:
1) Holy shit, weekends are like rage quit-a-palooza. I've played like 50+ matches but I swear I've only gotten to finish 15-20 of them. I guess drunk dudes and impatient kids hopped up on soda and candy aren't the most dedicated teammates.
2) The SMR is the worst gun in the franchise since the F2000. WTF is this gun? Poor accuracy since it hops around like crazy but isn't anywhere near strong enough to justify it, plus it has a fairly long reload. It's like it has nothing but negatives to it. I want to unlock all camos for all gun categories but the SMR and the SVU are making me doubt that'll ever happen. They're both just uselessly awful.

I did a Fresh Start in the hopes it would make the game a bit easier because I've been vacant from it for about a month, playing the odd few games during it. Anyway I'm not great at it and I no longer have any friends who play it so I've been playing on my own.

The UAV now being on the ground so you can't shoot it down, the added peripheral vision for snipers (with a scope-in animation that's even faster than BO2's!), the ping perk that gets you killed because some random ass teammate wasn't paying attention and those field ops that give you a goddamn nuke for shooting an enemy in the back or some silly shit all sound pretty bad too...
Quickscoping is going to be a very serious issue in Ghosts if it's as easy as it looked in videos.
CoD has never even attempted to match people based on XP rank (since it means nothing; you can be prestige master and rock a solid 0.3KD). Resetting allowed you to warm up in the boot camp playlist, though. You can still play the objective boot camp playlist with a mix of bots and people. Everyone in that playlist is super awful too, so it's decent practice.
I was on about TrueSkill but I never said it in my post, so I understand why you thought I was on about XP ranks. Boot camp is practically bot level anyway and I wouldn't gain much from it.

I honestly think and hope that proper balancing would be tweaked before release. In my opinion they've gotten better and better at the balancing aspects upon release.
BTW, does anyone have any information on the DIGITAL pre-ordering for the upgrade version of Ghosts (i.e. Xb360 - Xb1)? I can't find anything past September 15, and the only official news says to wait for more information. It's been a month, and the game comes out in 3-4 weeks... I prefer digital because you can migrate your multiplayer progress between consoles.
I might stick around on BO2 to be honest, until everyone actually stops playing - simple reason being the target finder. I used to get constant eye strain headaches playing without it, I struggle to see shadows in the distance against grey and the TF has made playing so much more comfortable. Also removes the 'is it friendly?' question you get when names fail to appear before you can see a person - if it's red you don't have to wait for a name to appear. While some people have called it a camping tool, on the flipside it's excellent against campers.

I was playing some of the older COD games yesterday in anticipation of Ghosts and I finally discovered the Barebones playlist. Holy shit, I can't believe I never knew about this playlist before! It is literally everything that I want in COD multiplayer - which is to say, all the killstreaks and attachments and superfluous nonsense stripped out of the game. It's basically just pure gun-on-gun gameplay, which is so satisfying. If this playlist still exists in Ghosts it is probably where I will spend most of my time.
I personally take the SMR over the FAL any day. I've gotten used to it for the most part. I use it with Quickdraw and an optic. If reload speed is a problem, there's Fast Mags. It has a longer two hit kill range than the FAL.
Either way, it's personal preference, but no way in hell is it "the worst gun in the franchise".
Yep, I personally loved to jump into Barebones Pure in Black Ops 1 every so often back then. It's basically Call of Duty 2, but with sprinting and more modern weapons.
Well, I did say "worst ... since the F2000", but of course that was frustrated hyperbole. MAC-11 in Black Ops 1 was pretty terrible and, of course, the Dragunov is in almost every game so by default every game carries the worst weapon in the franchise. (I really, really wish they would just stop it with that running joke. It's been in like 6 games now; the joke is dead. Please stop including that POS now.)
And that's not to mention how shockingly useless the Executioner is. Such a dumb idea to even include it in the first place, if they concede that a secondary shotgun is too much (which they do by virtue of making shotguns a primary weapon class).
I still maintain that the SMR is a stupidly balanced gun, however. Its combination of high recoil, low accuracy and low rate of fire (in most instances) is just a bad one from a weapon balance standpoint. Pretty much every other weapon is better in every situation, except obvious ones like how SMGs suck at range and snipers suck up close.

Hey, hey, hey! Suppressed Dragunovs are my favourite weapons in CoD, especially in IW's games as Treyarch tends to firecap the semi-auto Snipers. I have many a fond memory of destroying 3v3 on MW3 with my Dragunov, that quick "ping-ping" is godly. Plus I prefer the Chevron scopes. They're far from a joke!
I recently borrowed BO2 to try it out, and yeah, this is really disappointing. Hopefully it's not a thing in Ghosts.

For the new Ghosts release, does anyone know if I buy the Xbox 360 physical disc, then upgrade to the Xbox 1 physical disc (with my Xbox One), will my stats transfer over? Or do stats transfer over only with the digital versions of the game?

They transfer regardless of how you own the game. As long as you are signed into your CoD account that is associated with your gamertag, when you go from 360 to One (or PS3 -> PS4), the stats transfer.

Got a noob question. I've seen several people using what looks like a bolt action sniper rifle but with iron sights instead of any type of scope. I've been going crazy here trying to figure out what gun it is. Can anyone help me out??? Thanks

That be the Ballista. Iron Sight is the final attachment you unlock for it, at weapon level 11.
