Getting Bloodthirsty medals is a huge pain when you're a terrible player and I'm only on my first gun. Doubt I'll ever get Dark Matter.

That is the single reason I will never get Dark Matter. Headshots eventually happen, and the other camos are easy. But I rarely stay alive long enough for 5 kills. I've gotten several guns gold but the Haymaker and most snipers will simply never happen.

I'd say stick with it. When I first started working on my camos I thought bloodthirsties would never happen seeing I'm a fairly casual player but you soon learn ways to make things a bit easier. With bloodthirsty medals I find that you have to be a bit crafty with them in the sense that if you get 2 or 3 kills in a row its best to pull back a bit and try and catch your enemies off guard or flank them as theres a good chance the guys you just killed will be expecting you to pop up around a certain corner near where they just died. In other words learn to be as unpredictable as possible and keep checking the minimap a lot for them red dots.

Haymaker was probably one of the toughest I did but by no means overly hard or impossible. Snipers are proving pretty easy after I had dreaded starting on them, especially if you have Nuketown as you can snipe the enemy snipers from the windows provided your reaction time isn't of a pensioners and then quickly change spots to one of the sides of the buildings. You can only snipe the same guy so many times untill he figures out a way to take you out so be careful not to push your luck too far. Also if you have the DLC the stretch of beach on Splash is where a lot of people rack up kills. So far I've got my bloodthristy medals with some of the snipers without even really trying which was a bit of culture shock to me having just finished with shotguns which were a pain in the ass.

Can't give too many tips on what game modes are the best as I play almost exclusively Domination but I would say that whatever you do, if you decide to unlock camos for pistols make sure you go Hardcore. Hardcore is pretty good for most weapons tbh except maybe snipers since they are a lot of the time 1 hit kills anyway so might aswell stick to softcore so you can sponge a few more bullets if it comes to it but thats just me.

The reason I stick to domination is that due to the fixed objectives its a bit easier to predict where your enemies might be, Hardpoint is good too as is Safeguard so the Chaos Moshpit is almost the ideal place to get camos but ofcourse a lot of people will be there doing the same. Personally not keen on FFA or TDM as FFA is very unpredictable and random due to obvious reasons, TDM not as much but with TDM its quite easy to flip the spawns which means that you might be hanging back somewhere trying to line up a shot with a sniper or trying to get longshots or whatever, thinking you're safe on your own side only to have the spawns flip and someone take you out from behind. This can ofcourse happen in any game mode but I've personally felt it occurs more in TDM games.

The quest for Hero armor is ok. I've gotten the war machine character fully gold and I've completed a couple of other heads. Biggest issue is that I just run out of time before getting the final kills needed and get no progress. I had 3 glitch kills in one game and fumbled twice and got nothing. Or I'll have 4 kills with the scythe and screw up the next time I get it and die immediately. Having a limit on how often you get the abilities makes it frustrating.

I'm guessing you got the Overclock perk on right ? When I was working on some of the Specialist skins being the idiot that I am I was going without OC and it was hard bloody work.

I've just started my Knife camos and I gotta say I was totally expecting to break shit in my flat but its actually turning out to be a ton of fun and rather exciting! Even had a few bloodthirsties already, just a shame they don't count since I'm still trying to get the 200 kills.

Few last tips for the camo grind...

Make sure you got plenty of Class set-ups for multiple weapons, no point sticking to a single weapon if the map or game mode doesn't suit it all that well so that way you can work on another weapon untill a more suitable map or game mode comes along. Variety is also the spice of life, it can be really easy to burn out on something so as soon as you start feeling it, I'd say swap to a different weapons set or specialist for some change.

And lastly... ok this is more of a personal thing but alcohol helps! No, not trying to turn anyone into an alcoholic or cause health issues but I play better when I've had a few with my theory being that doing so I cut out the middle man ie. my brain and play more from muscle memory. Naturally having a few too many tends to have the opposite effect and you can't hit shit... or see shit but yeah, you get the idea.

Hope any of this helps.

@Repo man: Thanks for the tips! I definitely use Overclock on all classes and I have been switching abilities and weapons depending on the mode. One issue I have is that since I have gold on a few weapons that I really enjoyed playing with, I've been using others that I'm not as good with. This causes me to not get my abilities as soon as I can and hurts the hunt for Hero armor. I've started playing with weapons I actually enjoy again and it's helping a lot.

One of these days I'm just going to start using snipers and not allow myself to switch, regardless of how I do. That's the only way I'm ever going to get the hang of it. Now, I try sniping and when it goes poorly, I quickly switch to something else. I need to stop that. I've been ok at snipers in other Cod games but this one moves so fast that I never feel comfortable.

Started to play the game some days ago and only played the KRM and Gorgon so far. Really looking forward to the Argus shotgun. I somehow do not find it fun to play ARs and SMGs anymore, it is so simple and straightforward.. Got the feeling that shotguns and the Gorgon need some more situational reactions.

Same here. I was doing gold for all guns, and I'm down to basic automatic ARs and SMGs, and I just kinda stopped playing.

got trolled by my own team in dom.

i tend to put trophy systems out near cap points or choke points to get free scores off random nades. teammate team killed me early in the match 1 kill from a cerberus. he was laughing and said no scorestreaks for you.

i killed him back and ignored him. he then purposely sat on my trophy systems trying to get killed by the thing killing grenades and such until i got booted.

I've been out of the loop for a while. So can you get the new weapon(s) from random black market drops or do you have to purchase them?

Phew! Finally got the cold camo for the knife which is such a relief, I honestly thought that would kill my chances of ever getting Dark Matter as I felt I would never be able to gold the knife. Done shotguns and launchers too so the rest should be more or less smooth sailing from here on.

Good work! I thought getting the combat knife bloodthirsty medals would be terrible, but I think I got all of them in 3 games or so.

Just the RK5, Brecci, Haymaker, L-Car 9, and Razorback to get gold, and I'm at Dark Matter. I've been debating on streaming the rest of the journey to Twitch. Who knows!

So weird. I've never gotten any of the supply drop weapons, but last weekend I got the MX Garand and the Brass Knuckles in the same supply drop. And just now I got the Iron Jim crowbar in a supply drop. Hahaha

I've been saving up Cryptokeys hoping they do a sale of some sorts, or a special weapon chance increase.

I've started saving them with the notion that I figure they might drop new weapons again sometime soon in the future. The MX Garand was the only weapon I really wanted, though the Marshall 16 would be cool too. I open a crate every once and a while, because I've been doing there Dark Matter grind all week, and it helps a little bit. Haha

Brecci, and Haymaker were made Gold this morning, so Diamond shotguns have been attained. Just the RK5, L-Car 9, and Razorback to go now.

Did you end up doing hardcore for Brecci/Haymaker?

I've been using the Brecci in core and jumping every chance I get but I still have trouble getting headshots with the damn thing.

Nope! Did it all in core. I was having a rough time, until I learned it was way easier for me to get headshots by aiming slightly higher than I thought that I needed to, and hip firing instead of aiming down sights. I'd aim down sights on people who weren't really moving and didn't know I was there sometimes though. Also, I ran active camo. I'd use it to get to the enemy side of the map, and work their side of the map, but not enough to push them out of the spawn. It's not hard to get lots of headshots on people from the side or behind who are sniping, etc. sixth sense, and hug corners by entrances, wait for someone to walk in, and get them that way too. Worked like a charm for me.

Also, I played ground war. Lots and lots of flanking too, to get to their side of the map.

What?! There are weapons you only get through supply drops? Through the ones which cost COD Points?

You can get them from any supply drop, common or rare, but obviously have a better chance through a rare drop. Rare drops only cost money if you want to spend it, and you don't like grinding for Cryptokeys.

Saved up the 60 keys for the guaranteed theme. Common gun camo, body theme I already had and a meh attachment variant :(

And it seems as if my game has been freezing almost every 25 minutes now and sending me back to the home screen. It normally happens after a match so all my progress is lost. I dunno what to do D:

I think they're having issues on their side (PS4) - for the last three games it wouldn't display my Cryptos and now I can't get online. Website says everything is up though.....

Oh, I always thought those rare drops cost 200 CoD points in addition to 20 keys. Good to know. But in one of his videos driftor mentioned that the chances are better when you buy to common drops instead of one rare... Are there anywhere real numbers for this?

I went a bit overboard with playing today, and finished my other three guns, in addition to the earlier two, and I now have Dark Matter! Was it worth it? I don't know. Hahaha

That was early on, they buffed the rates on rare supply drops a while back, but you still get a lot of useless attachment variants that are Rare or higher.

I'm not sure if it's still better to open common's or not.

I have issues with that stuff, but I have issues with that stuff with just about every game on Xbox One, unfortunately.

It really is kind of nuts how often the loot drops give you duplicates. Thank god they listened and patched in the burn duplicate option.

Agreed. Though I think the duplicate burning reward should be much higher for the items. Don't you only get like 10 Cryptokeys for an Epic item duplicate or something?
