I...I don't know what's true anymore. I've never bought CoD on Playstation because I'm always partial to the Xbox One controller. This year, I swapped after much debated and...I love it. Could I actually like the PS4 controller better than the X1?!? What is this world coming to?

The DS4 Is a much better controller than The ds3. The problem with ds3 was never the lay out it was the size. Now you can grip the ds4 it's a perfect controller for me.

So, how is the campaign from a gameplay point of view in Co-op.

I get the idea that the Story isn't very good but I don't see many people comenting on the actual gameplay and level design. I'm specially interested in the Co-op aspect of it. I've been looking around this thread and most people seem to talk as if they played it solo and didn't quite like it.
Is it the sort of co-op campaign that gets a lot more fun when playing with others? (Like Dead Space 3, RE5, Borderlands, etc)

I'm interest. Though my main takeway from this thread is that I should probably wait until a few patches have hit

The gameplay itself is fine, great even. You can customize pretty much everything about your weapon loadouts for the missions and the abilities you get and overall its a very solid shooter experience. Surprisingly amount of enemy variety too, for a Call of Duty game. The biggest problem with the campaign isn't the gameplay, it's just that the campaign is lacking a sense of punch and adventure that the other ones have. It's just dull, you go from place to place for often hazy and unexplained reasons, characters do a lot of things that don't really make sense until WELL in hindsight, and all the characters just seem bored and angry all the time. Even the more grimdark entries in the series like World at War or Modern Warfare 3 still reveled in their gloriously over the top setpieces and hammy acting. This one just tries to be too thoughtful while simultaneously being a big, bad, shoot many robots military story. It doesn't really mesh well. Compared to Black Ops 2 or Advanced Warfare it really is a step backwards for story telling in the series, which is kinda weird to say for a CoD game but there it is.

i ask again, what the hell is that green camo i see so many people with?

it looks so bad i thought it might have been a texture not loading, but it has a sheen to it

its the worst gun camo ive ever seen in a game
Sounds to me like you want to use it :p

I think we need to nod our hat to Treyarch here as i am reading on this thread lots and lots of different opinions on what gun is best... surely that is a good thing as now not everyone is running around with the starter SMG

While I absolutely love the Theater mode, damn do I miss the ease of uploading gameplay form my PS4.

I gotta like, use FRAPS to record the game in theater, then encode and upload :O

Sorry I didn't get it, just invited you and mcz117chief

I'd appreciate an invite. PSN is bmc811.

I really hope the nerf the number of points needed for score streaks. TDM matches go full time almost all the time and your team gets maybe 2 UAVs all game long.

5 kills are too many for a UAV and Ante Up needs to be one full kill worth of points.

Blops 2 had a UAV spam problem (they actually increased the score needed after launch), but putting it at 500 points is a bit of an overreaction.

so what are people's thoughts on how many players should skip A and rush to B at the start of domination?

I am new to the gametype, I feel like 1 at A and rest to B. max 2 at A.

I have games were 4 people are capping A at the start, that seems incorrect.

3 common boxes and all drops were common except for 1 legendary attachment for Razorback which I can't unlock yet, but at least it turned out to be equal to the rare box and with more items.

Guys I haven't played his yet, but have a ps4 copy I originally bought at BB preordered and opened to install it.

I decided to take advantage of the GameStop trade deal and trade my regular Xbox to an elite bundle. I got cod BLOPS 3 figuring highest resale value.

So question is...which version do I keep, keeping in mind friends online isn't an issue for me.

PS4 = +1080p MP res, -psn stability
XBO = +Elite controller, +xbl stability, -900p MP res

Decisions...???

it really depends on the map.
it's not quite as straightforward as I know it from Destiny, where rushing B is like THE way of winning.

On some maps B is a god damn meatgrinder and you can get shot from all sides.

So it's much better to go for A and C and try to hold them.
On other maps I'd rush straight for B,yeah.

same here.
one of the preorder dlcs.

stuff like this really "grinds my gears".
all those stupid camp patterns.
till bo1 it was ok with gold as the lattest.
but diamond, baccon, and so on..

Not sure if anyone has noticed but if you're locking onto a UAV, for example, it'll let you know that a teammate is already locked on to it.

Little things like this I can appreciate.

Not only that, if you rank up at any time during a match your teammates will congratulate you on the promotion.

So it looks like this game is also running a hybrid of P2P and dedicated servers, just like Ghosts and AW did:

Also, parties are breaking game modes big time. Had this happen at least 8 times last night - note that the TDM max players limit is 12:

Also, shutting down Ruin is so, so satisfying:

Yeah I've joined lobbies where there were like 20 people in and we had to wait for people to leave before the match would start with 12. Very strange.

Also I hate when people kill me when I'm about to gravity spike.

you unlocked a customization for a specialist. check them and look under "personalize"

Finished the campaign just there, on hardened. Not sure my thoughts are too different to everyone else's.

In terms of actual gameplay it was good. Probably took me around 9 hours alone. It would be interesting to try this game in 4 person co-op because it doesn't really seem spacey enough for it, but certainly for single player it was a bit more open than previous call of duty games, and it does a nice job of supporting different play styles. I liked and used alot of the abilities, mostly the control core aiblities, but I subbed in the chaos stuff a good few times too.

To me, the big sticking point with gameplay is still AI. Difficulty really just ramps up how many bullets they eat and how few you can, 90% of enemies still plant their feet and just fire away at you. The open areas make it easy to flank, and most times I got stuck, it was simply because of the numbers, rather than anything in particular the enemy was doing. I imagine in four player co-op you can just roll right through things.

As far as the story goes, it was fiiiine. I wouldn't say it was trash like some people are saying, but definitely a big disappointment for me in terms of what I hoped for/expected from the black ops series. I guess it fit the tone of wtf is going on of the first game, but in very different ways, and in the end, the explanations are not super interesting. I also finished it and went "huh, kind of like the end of
crysis 2
then" which isn't really something I want to take away form any game haha. Fuck your stupid partner as well. His reactions, dialogue, everything really. He starts fine for some reaosn at the beginning but after the prologue/missions 1-2, ugh.

Also, the tone and style of the game kind of makes the game move away form the big crazy hoorah set pieces I like from COD. This game really made me miss Modern Warfare. I appreciate Treyarch are trying to move up with their level of storytelling but I think they just leaned into their weaknesses this time, and I LIKE call of duty's banality. I want explosions, vehicles disintegrating while you're in them, moustache twirling villians and so on from this series. Also, some EXTREMELY gory ha, feels very left field when that stuff happens.

So overally campaign-wise, I feel like the actual gameplay is an overall win (relative to the call of duty games), but the actual setting and story leaves so much to be desired

Also performance and visuals is a bit offt. Nothing game breaking, but I'm not too sensitive to this stuff and it was jarring a few times. Going into and out of cutscenes especially, but at times during gameplay too.

What are your favourite class setups guys? I need to find something that gives me a better K/D because I suck right now.

In every COD game (and that's every COD game since 2) I've gravitated towards assault rifles, usually finding success with high damage, low rate of fire type of guns.

In this game, I could not match my previous performance unltil I tried the GORGON. Yes, an LMG!! This is the first time I've consistently ran with an LMG as my primary gun and it simply melts people. It's certainly weaker on tighter maps, but I've installed the laser sight and it's pretty deadly at hip firing as well.

Both are pretty good. I've had the most success with the ICR. Feels a lot like the ACR from the modern warefare days, steady and consistant, put the quickdraw, high caliber, and long barrel on her and she's a dream.

Yeah, I just did the ICR with quickdraw and the grip and it feels very much so like the ACR. Pretty amazing actually.

Is there any way for me to hear footsteps with a surround system rather than headphones? People just hear me and turn around and kill me often. D:

Only vaguely played last year's, anything different about this year's multi?

Enjoying so far but need to step away from campaign for a while. It feels a bit cynical.

So how are campaign, multiplayer, and zombies this time around? Is it worth a pickup this weekend or should I just stick with Halo 5 for now?

Just a heads up, Best Buy is giving $40 trade-in credit for this, which is way more than expected.

I don't mean to be "that guy", the MP is really solid, but I don't think I'll be playing it over Halo and Battlefront, not to mention Fallout and Tomb Raider.

The campaign is DICE-tier garbage though, and Zombies is still as obtuse as ever.

why is everyone always voting for the beta maps??

Hunted, Combine and Stronghold come up all the time for some reason. I've only played Evac once since the midnight launch, though. They really need to rebalance the map frequency, because those, Aquarium, Metro, and Fringe are starting to get played out. Feels like I only have access to half the rotation.

Getting quite a bit of rubber banding on PS4. Kinda a mess, rubber banding in mobility shooters is the worst.

Also it's weird, I get the same feeling as AW which is that they haven't quite committed to the mobility stuff, so it kind of feels a bit middling.
