Can Halo 2 beat CS as the most popular online FPS? (or at least come close)

the CS numbers will go way up after HL2 is released I'd say. I'm sure there's a lot of people who don't want to buy it off steam.

Well didn't socom top off at 22k or something? :D
Now the war of online fps can be fought on a truly grand scale.

edit : 22k online is pretty good for an online fps, considering none of the big name PC fps' even top 10k online players.

Sony Computer Entertainment sent out a gleeful announcement today claiming that SOCOM II: U.S. Navy SEALS has averaged 373,000 online player hours per day, apparently more player hours daily than all Xbox Live titles log worldwide.

meh...

Hands down Halo will bring back the days of sega-net and how if feels to play together. Not since the days of Goldeneye have gamers felt the feeling of Multiplayer fun. Remember, "It's good to play together". Counter-Strike will be tough to beat but in terms of an overall community CS is not put together well this year. SOCOM is plagued with bad gimmicks, and a slue of bugs. The fight for middle earth has begun and the Fellowship of the Halo will be tough to stop. As much as Sauron's counter-strike against the fellowship persists, it will be stopped.

The Opinion of a console gamer.
