Pretty much this. You can usually ignore the bottom two or three because they'll be novelty comeback fan favourites, but generally speaking the top four Evo entries represent the biggest player bases/interest in any given game.

Smash

Smash is evergreen as a brand but Ultimate's heyday has passed. Now it's mainly played by top dogs/streamers, and the last few still trying to climb the ladder to elite rank before the sun sets on the game. Everyone else is playing something else while waiting for a new instalment.

Tokon will capture the VS fan base at first but I think will fall off pretty quickly like all Arksys fighters. They will have a committed userbase but I think it will be a small one.

SF6 is crazy well balanced and will continue to be the leader for the next two years imo.

Speaking of, I just got this new arcade stick and have been looking for a decent fighting game to play.

I'm somewhere between casual and competitive, and I want to play something that doesn't have a horrible community. Any recommendations?
