Provincial and federal elections don't happen at the same time, so there's always going to be overlap. However, once change at one level happens, it usually follows suit in the other. So the Liberals forming government at the federal level usually signals that Ontario will go PC in the provincial election. And if the PC forms government, then Ontario has a higher likelihood to not throw out the current government in the next federal election.
Should be? It already happened. O'Leary announced he was running almost literally the moment it finished. He's neither subtle nor brave.
And it's not like they have a bunch of bilingual candidates. There were, like, two full-on francophones, a franco-ontarien, and then ten people who struggled to string together full sentences. It was horrific.
