Unemployment bro here as well. Going to try for disability.
Acceptance, I'm afraid. Much more somber. Like I said before, it was not wholly unexpected.
The company says that to ensure fair treatment of its employees, nearly all its workers not needed during the wind-down period will receive a minimum of 16 weeks of compensation, including wages and benefits coverage.

My condolences. Hopefully severance pay, if that pans out, will help us all out smoothly enough until things get better.
Thanks, sir, but I haven't actually worked in several years. I worked on a line during college, two nights per week.
After college, I couldn't find work, and depression hit hard. My OCD came back strong, and anxiety as well. I've been helping family members and am going to apply for disability because I definitely qualify.
I tried an employment readiness course paid for by the gov't, and aced all the school work. It was like an easy grade 8 Civics course. I helped everyone else out if they were struggling, because a lot of the folks had financial issues, were on welfare, etc. But when it switched to placement, my depression piqued. It made me wish I was dead while working at a newspaper doing cold calls.
I write from home, but it's just a hobby.
Damn, a gross assumption on my part. I'm afraid I can only partly relate, still grappling with depression myself, but that don't lessen my sympathy for ya.
Well, they already purchased them at this point. If they sell them at regular price they won't generate anymore income for liquidation. If they drop the price by $5 they will sell by the tons and generate more revenue allowing Target to at least recoup on more of the cost of the initial purchase of the cards.
I don't know what they will get for sending them back to the vendor. That may be the better option.
Not a problem. I appreciate it, and hope your depression goes away.
In reply to EmptySpace: I don't spend any money unless I absolutely have to. But my only bill is car insurance for a shared vehicle. Spending anything bugs me, because I worry so much about when my next income will come.
Wow that was quick!
Like they were in Canada before?
Target's failure is that they sit at where Walmart sits at. Walmart in the US is seen as the shittier, trashier store, and Target survived as being the cleaner, more well managed places. Unfortunately for them, Walmart Canada isn't as trashy, and that stigma just isn't there. People won't switch over to "a better store" because to most, it's the same (if not pricier)
Go to a US store, you will see why the comparison exists.Where are these mythical stores? I can't stand shopping at Walmart and preferred Target in Canada for this reason. I'm sad to see them go.
Target worker here. Not surprised but got to meet some cool ass people and got good hours from my ETL in my backroom shifts so I enjoyed my days there
Y'all cool
They said I was crazy for getting a Rosalina from Amazon Germany.
No wait, *I* said I was crazy for getting a Rosalina from Amazon Germany.
But in any case, WHO'S CRAZY NOW?
I gave Target a fair shake, went to the Stockyards and Vic Park locations a few times - nothing to make them really stand out, except for those occasional discounted Sony/Nintendo fun bucks cards.
They were even going to open up one near the ACC. Wonder what's going to happen to that space now.
Teksavvy just sent out apology emails about billing changes. But in our case, it says we're keeping the exact same speed (30/5) and price ($55), but getting a 100gb bandwidth cap boost (300 to 400gb).
Lol. What?
Seems like an auto generated email, but we happen to have chosen the speed/cap configuration that isn't losing anything and only gaining.
I got that too. I expected bad news considering the tone of the email, but realised I was getting the extra 100GB of bandwidth at no extra cost.

I've been to several as I live very close to the border, even been to two in South Carolina. Walmart in southern Ontario is almost identical. You just need to live in a larger city I suppose. Hamilton, Brantford and even Belleville have very similar clientele to the things you'd see on people of WalmartGo to a US store, you will see why the comparison exists.
We joke about People of Walmart, but the worst of Walmart here doesn't even come close to the shit that happens in the US,

Target is pulling out of Canada already. Bring on the liquidation.
I just went to the awesome two-level Target in Winnipeg for the first time over the holidays. I'm sad that it's going away.

Never got an email. I'm on the 35/3 cable.
Sony is closing all their Canadian stores, too? Everyone's leaving. Soon we'll have nothing left.

Not me, it went from 45 to 50$. Looks like they're throwing an extra 100gig to soften the blow but the unlimited downloads after 2am makes this useless to me honestly...
And yet, on Rogers I'm getting 150/15 with 550 GB bandwidth for $54.I got the extra bandwidth, but they're actually raising my bill a bit (from $49 to $53). I'm on the 28/1 cable plan.
e: I choose to blame Rogers
