People are being highly pessimistic and writing it off entirely already, but it's normal for Japanese companies to not bother doing shit until the game's out in Japan before working on international versions... and that'd be going from the Switch version here probably as the top priority given how it's doing.

Still kinda sucks how the best case scenario is probably "not this year" though.

So far, it has proven to be true. The rumor never stated XX will come to West rather that PS4 version will be the key Western release for Monster Hunter.

I mean, I understand how you feel since there have been so many portable versions ... but, I started with Monster Hunter on PS2 -- I even beta tested it. So, I've been dying for a console powered release. So, yeah, I want XX on my Switch, but I'm not gonna feel strange playing World on my PS4 -- I'm thrilled.

That Friday release is pretty weird. Perhaps a simultaneous global release for XX was planned at some point, then axed in favor of being Japan-only.
