Capcom treated Saturn and Dreamcast like kings, for that they deserve their crown.
SH2R is GOTY.
So many classic ips just languishing. Even if they're just licensing out their IP again I'd like to see them make a comeback.Lord willing, the great Konami shall come back
Come to think of it... outside of Resident Evil Remakes and their amazing game collections I have had no interest in their recent output. Those remakes are fantastic, but everything else is meh.
Street Fighter has been in the shitter since Capcom decided to approach it as a service. There is something really underwhelming about their visual design and pace/flow of combat. The production values and coolness factor of Tekken 8 somehow has me playing with relative frequency even if I am not a fan of its service approach either. I am even playing characters that I have barely touched before like Lars, Yoshimitsu, and Kuma.
I don't know but there has to be a reason I am playing older Street Fighters (IV and prior) more than the recent one. Can't say the same about the recent Tekken or The King of Fighters game.I like SF6 way more than Tekken 8....then again why are we comparing these two fg's that are so different from one another
Sony destroys Capcom
And, of course, lord willing, MGS Delta shall be GOTY 2025.
SH2R is GOTY.
I don't get this if you're using two games not developed by Capcom as examples. They weren't trying to be a Western developer, they just published Western games, something that literally every other major Japanese publisher does. There's probably dozens of other examples from the weird 2007-2013 period where Capcom was trying and failing to be a western developer (Dark Void, Bionic Commando, etc) and a lot of people had given up on them as a dev / publisher.
You can literally play it right now on an Xbox Series console. Now all they have to is bring this to modern system.
Meh, all they do are RE remakes and endless Monster Hunter games. Also Street Fighter DLC.
Normally threads I make have a poll. This one doesn't. It's not even up for debate.
It's a royal Capcom circle jerk thread.
Have they had their moments of slip ups? Sure. But think about companies that used to be the goats and how far they've fallen. Blizzard, Bethesda, SquareEnix, Bioware, etc. Companies that had iconic franchises and characters all but left in the realm of nostalgia.
Then you have Capcom who not only has arguably the biggest pool of iconic franchises and characters in the industry, but keeps feeding players new entries, remakes, remasters, and new IPs. For every RE remake there is a game like Exoprimal, and for every new Monster Hunter, you get a risk like a Dragon's Dogma 2 or a fan service megaman legacy collection. The portfolio is staggering for all the genres they touch and do so damn well. Oh, and an in house engine that blows past the competition? Yes please.
Not only do they deliver on what players want these games review well, leave great impressions with actual players, and sell well. Capcom has withstood everything the industry has thrown at it for all these years and remained a beacon of excellence.
Praise be.

Yup, and it's not like constant new IPs made up for all of it.All their franchises and the genres they were good at are dead now except for like 4 at this point.
Viewtiful Joe - dead
Megaman - dead
Dino Crisis - dead
Okami - dead
Devil May Cry - probably dead
Onimusha - dead
Lost Planet - dead
Darkstalkers - dead
All beat em ups - dead
All shmups - dead
Yup, a bunch of dead IPs. When they try to create something new like Kunitsu-Gami or Exoprimal, they’re instantly dead on arrival as no one cares. It’s only a matter of time before they go back to being crapcom, and continue bleeding talented staff. All their franchises and the genres they were good at are dead now except for like 4 at this point.
Viewtiful Joe - dead
Megaman - dead
Dino Crisis - dead
Okami - dead
Devil May Cry - probably dead

God hand has more merits gameplay wise to be in that list than okami or viewtiful joe...
