Capcom Posts Record Results for the Eighth Consecutive Year and Sells More Games Than Ever Thanks to Monster Hunter

Looking over their breakdown, I'm reminded their IPs look really centralized. Still, their smaller franchises are dong well. I know SF6 is on better track than SF5, as it should be. (Might be better for me to just say they have only two, titanic successes - Their other stuff is doing fine)

I saw one blurb in their financial report that I thought is funny (circled below):

Ok, Capcom. Calm yourself. You're a video game company.

I'm not always a fan of the game design decisions they make, but it's hard to deny their business strategy. They want you playing their games and they act like it.
  • Widely available franchises
  • No launcher on PC
  • Back catalog is often on places like Humble Bundle which creates new fans
  • Older classics are made available on GOG
Think of the money other companies are throwing away by not doing all these.

That's a PC-centric list but the point stands. They're doing a lot of the right things and it's working.
This. They're doing some incredibly clever things, and it clearly pays off. Makes you wonder what *** are in charge at other publishers.
