Capcom reveals Pragmata’s unique puzzle-shooting gameplay in a new video | Monster Hunter Showcase

Looks like something when you are trying to be unique but you are creatively bankrupt, like that gunitsu whatever game

Eh, it looks like trying to do the Bioshock minigame in real time while an enemy is moving towards you before you can start doing damage.

Not sure I'm a fan of the concept, but I'll still reserve judgment until the final product release.

Vanquish but it's slow as fuck and you have to play Pipe Dream to get to the good bits.
I was actually going to post this exact observation, but with a positive connotation.

The emphasis on weapon switching and hit "feel"--particularly that shotgun--felt very Vanquish to me. I think there's real potential here.

I'm actually more interested now, but wtf this android kid I cant play a whole game with that.

The need to hack every enemy before being able to do damage seems like a mechanic that'll get grating after the first hour.

How will the hacking be done with multiple enemies? I hope there isn't a time limit on anything. Start hacking one enemy, dodge, start hacking second enemy, dodge, finish hacking first, kill.

Yup, loving what I am seeing here and was what I wanted to see. Really stoked for this.

You just can't beat that father and child bond journey.

Puzzle shooting gameplay? Looks like someone is trying to reinvent the wheel again. I had high hopes for this, but now im nervous. Who the heck wants to be forced to do a puzzle, while being stalked by an enemy??

Im kinda into it. This at least feels like a video game-ass video game. It's trying something new instead of following popular formulas. I wonder if the combat puzzle shit will get exhausting after a while though.

Society nowadays is funny

When game companies play too safe , "It's the same shit all the time , every games are just remakes/remastered , games are all generic dumb shooter , why dont developers experiment games like in PS1/PS2 days ?"

When game companies try something new , "It's too bothersome shit , no thx . I was interested until I saw the mechanic . Its not fun !"

Like common' the game is not even out yet .

You know, this could easily be converted into a good couch coop game with the missus if they add the option.

I don't know about this. Having real time mini-games in stressful situations doesn't sound great. And I'm not sure how varied these mini-games can be when you have to think that quickly, might risk becoming repetitive.

Sounds like a fun concept for boss battles though, if they'd be able to make more complex variations for those.

Having to think quickly on your feet like that could be thrilling. Nice that they're trying to be innovative. Gut reaction after seeing the first few seconds was "bothersome shit", but watching it more made the idea appealing.
Would be great to see more AAA devs try to keep innovative second-to-second adrenaline pumping gameplay in mind. Its severely lacking in the upper tier of game dev.

I'd encourage more AAA teams to try to mix up genres and see what they can come up with.

I think this could work for me, but the point that needs to hit is the story. Hopefully it's not something that takes a backseat because without it I don't think the game will appeal too much to me.

It looks great, looks to be doing Nasapunk better than Starfield lmao. Combat looks interesting and definitely unique. Just hope theres lots of interesting low gravity situations 👌

This looks insane.

Personally would like to see 1 to 1 combat a lot more with increasingly complex robots. Rather than putting multiple enemies.

If they can nail this it will be amazing.

This kind of gameplay seems cool one or two times, but an entire game it will get old really fast. Capgod strikes again

It wouldn't be so bad it the puzzle wasn't one of the most basic puzzle mechanic that has been in countless games before

It just occured to me that i've actually been seeing pragmata gameplay for month right here on neogaf

(is the image uploading system still down ?? :messenger_pensive:
I had the best joke ever with the "IQ :155 / You only have 2 moves to get the treasure from the big titted snake lady" ads)

hmmm the hacking thing is interesting but not what i'd hoped this game was by previous footage.

still willing to try it for at least being something different.

Was it always known this was multiplatform though?

I feel thats a lede thats getting a bit burried.

Depressing thread with shade being thrown to Kunitsu-gami and this, this forum si so narrow minded sometimes.
Pragmata looks great and it's full of potential, I'm really looking forward to it.

This will sell like shit but I will adore it. Love me some out-of-left-field type games such as this. In some ways it reminds me of P.N.0.3

Cool cool. Reminds me of Nier Automata. Would be intense if there was a score tied to the combat mechanics. It would amp up the risk reward nature of hacking and shooting.

a lot of modern "gamers" are allergic to anything different. there's a reason everything is so homogenised in AAA games now.

I'm glad Capcom is doing something interesting here

Eh, I don't know. Having some "connect the dots" puzzle as the central mechanic that's supposed to set this game apart seems kinda boring.
Though I'm still interested if they have a good variety of enemies, weapons, bosses and some fun exploration

gameplay looks more frustrating than fun. I appreciate Capcom trying new things and giving us a new IP, but this needs more time in the oven.

If done right this could be fun, with lot of variety in the hacking system, what Nier Automata half assed due to budget limitations or lack of imagination on Platinum's side.

They should include "secret hacking" that people finds out by experimenting and cause different effects on enemies, or even turning them into allies.

I like it. I don't remember a quick mini game inside a game being used to stun enemies.

Maybe 'Syndicate' the forgotten game iirc.

I'm open to try their different approach to combat. But at this point everyone in this forum knows I'm basically a Capcom shill.

This game wasn't on my radar and it looked like a Vanquish clone, but the new gameplay loop piqued my interest. I look forward to it now...
