Cronos: The New Dawn | Sector A-0 Gameplay Showcase

This made me "get" what they're going for much more than previous footage. It has the straight Dead Space homage elements but the level design and atmosphere look way closer to Survival Horror which is actually great.

I REALLY like the aesthetics of the retro-SciFi tech within the crumbling 80s architecture. Combined with the really good ambient soundtrack, I got sucked in. It looks derivative on the surface but this video convinced me that there is a cool vision at play. A cool mixture of elements. I feel a lot of Returnal influence in here too which is beyond exciting to me. The heavy ambient mood and all. The level design gimmicks are cool and interesting too.

Also, dismemberment, weak spots, having to switch up ammo types to finish enemies off etc. looks like a tasty combat combo. Looks much more interesting than the last trailer imo.

I saw a leg get blown off with the shotty near the end. I still want every game to be Resident Evil 2 Remake since I saw that level of gore though... 🥲

Yea I think there's dismemberment but the fact you can shoot a monster 3 or 4 times without even a blood decal appearing on the body.... Even fuckin Goldeneye 64 did that.

Yep, i noticed that immediately.

Kinda strange because i think sh2 remake had at least some bullet marks on enemy but i could be wrong.

ehhhhhh, not feeling it. Bloober should focus on remaking SH games, at least they're working on strong bases there.

I can see they've been inspired by The Evil Within, Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Dead Space and Returnal in this short video.

Which in my book, is plenty of good inspiration so bring it on. 😎🤌🏻

Honestly it's kind of turned me off the game now. I probably won't bother. Things could change though and maybe they're working on it.

The thing is, even in 2025, very few games actually have bullet marks, it's hard to make that a reason to not buy game or i should avoid 90% of them...

Most games have the hit zone that turn red, not actual bullet marks.

Pretty lazy if you think that an AA like atomic hearth has both bullet marks and melee marks...

See, as I've said before. Teams need time to grow and sharpen their skills in every department.

Its why the school of thought that says "x made a bad game, I hope they get shut down", is so hopelessly counterproductive.

Yeah but in a horror game with dismemberment and plenty of blood and violence, I expect there to be some body damage. It shouldn't be an afterthought or left out. Impact wounds and whatnot make the combat feel better and more visceral.

After SH2 I can't help but be hyped for this. I'm really hoping it's good.
My guess is they haven't announced a release date yet because they're waiting for COD, BF and other big hitters that will also release during Fall so that they can stay relatively away from those dates.
