Captain America: Civil War Trailer #1 Debut

The guy in the lower left gets shot. I'm not sure why this is always posted.

Because everyone in that gif is hilariously bad at fight scenes.

The first guy raises his hands up slowly and opens himself up for Batman, one of the world's best martial artists, to push him down like a chubby schoolyard bully.

The second guy comes in like he's going to limply pistol whip Batman or something, but instead just stands there and sticks his jaw out and waits for Batman to throw his weak-ass punch.

Then the first guy gets up again and looks like he's about to walk off set, like he forgot to wait until the director yelled "cut."

At this point, after 3 people are already down, guy with the submachine gun finally turns around, probably after receiving a cue from a crew member that it was his turn to wait for Batman to hit him. But then he realizes that he read the cue wrong, so he looks back quickly, remembers "oh right, I'm supposed to be shot," and then falls over.

Then this other dude appears in the frame and points a gun at, I don't know, some invisible person standing beside Batman and waits for Batman to grab his arm.

Not pictured: Christopher Nolan, who is also hilariously bad at fight scenes.

Oh man, that was fucking awesome. So hyped for this film! Looks like it's going to be much more interesting and more of an event than AoU. Love that Falcon is getting some cool action, and I'm interested to see more of Black Panther. Glad that it seems to still be a Cap movie, and that closing scene with Steve and Bucky laying into Iron Man was goddamn amazing.

So Scarlet Witch is part of Team Cap?

Well, she hates Stark, so if she's going to pick a side it's going to be with Cap. Plus, she was in
the New Avengers at the end of Age of Ultron
, so it makes sense she probably trusts Cap.

Wasn't it confirmed that Spiderman would be in this?

Surprised they didn't at least tease him.

I imagine he will be held back for the final trailer.

Hot damn!

Looking really great.

Uhhhh...the story setup is not what I expected it'd be.

Not exactly a battles of ideology and ethics.

It's Cap protecting his bud.

We don't know that from just a brief trailer. From what Thunderbolt was saying clearly they want to operate a little more tightly which probably results in Stark being promoted highly within SHIELD which could fuel the conflict.

I will say Captain America is the best superhero Marvel has right now, so Civil War is tempting.

He's great, but a huge part of that is down to how excellent TWS was (and the Russo Bros' direction). Honestly, when the whole MCU began I couldn't give two shits about him, but I quite liked him after The Avengers as the straight man and natural leader. And then after TWS he's just far and away my favourite character.

I don't know,I feel like I should side with Cap but I think a lot of people are doing that due to him being the titular character.

Tony has a point, even though he's a prick
Cap only seems interested in protecting his buddy inspite of everything he's done

Does anyone else think the bit at the end with bucky and cap beating iron man while hes down looked just a little cheesy?

trailer looks cool.

i really hope they don't undermine the moral/ethical battle between cap & tony.
because no side is really 'wrong', and each POV's have really strong points for support. you can clearly see the justifiable reasons behind pro & anti registration.
especially in todays' world. it's a topic that should really have a more central role in the public consciousness.

this is really what civil war is about. they don't need to mirror the comics, but they should at least get the core concepts correct.

i don't have too much fears that it will be simply a 'muslce-head' concept of cap protecting his friend =otherwise why the fuck would hawk eye, scarlet witch etc be there?

He's still an arrogant prick. Tony and Steve were never friends. They fought on the same team, but that's it. It seems Tony becomes a government-tool in this movie.

he was a just as much a stooge in the comic saga, too.
i love the civil war comic arc for the themes -not so much the executions, as there were multiple heroes who acted SOO out of character in order to feed the narrative. like tony.

Well yeah Tony's whole character arc through the MCU is that he never fucking just takes accountability for jack shit anything. Ultron was YOUR fault Tony.

Being completely real, Cap and Bucky combined would still be no match for Iron Man. Though after the indignities the character suffered in Iron Man 3, who knows anymore.

So as average as I thought AoU was, my favourite scene was the tension and small scrap over Visions creation...a whole film of hero v hero (and months after BvS omg) will be good!

If you think about it, valid arguments can be made that he created the main villains of Iron Man 1, Iron Man 2, Iron Man 3. LOL.

Really? I felt no tension at all durin those scenes. Creating tension is something Whedon fails at in my books.

Looks cool. I'm not a comics reader (I probably should be) but when I hear "Civil War," I think of a long, on-going saga with lots of turns and plot developments.

This seems like it will be a one-off event, kind of like Age of Ultron is "Roughly Two Weeks of Ultron." I know it's just a reality of big budget movies and the way the MCU is set up... but it does make me wish the whole thing was a high-budget TV series that can develop a more intricate story.

A high-budget TV series would never be able to capture the amount of superheroes here doing half the things they do with as many locations as are necessary and look as good as it does. You would either have little to no action or bad CGI, or both.

It's not possible, because the returns on movies are much higher than on TV, especially with today's viewership. Only a madman could justify that budget with those returns.

Unless you're just coming up with "what if?" fantasies, in which case I want to train and ride a grizzly bear (no really, this is a fantasy of mine).

Which is why its great that his arc seems to be having finally gained some self awareness. Seriously, that's why I really hope the movie is about ideology, because maybe he's right, maybe someone should have been preventing him from just doing whatever he wanted

moral question for all you jumping to take sides…
is 'safety' more important to you than 'freedom'?

because that's really what the civil war saga was about.

how??
capt took tony on by himself in the comic & beat him.
he's obviously not as strong as the IM suit, but he's a much more efficient fighter, and that's why he edges out tony.

I'm digging this.

I needed more Clint and T'Challa work, so I will be heavily looking forward to future trailers.
So....Red Hulk, right?

Right?

WHOS WITH ME?!?
Die in a fire

I would like to personally thank whomever it was that designed Wanda's costume.
Looks based off of Uncanny Avengers, at least somewhat:
Minus that stupid tiara.
Cap's costume is dialed in at this point. I don't see much difference between this and AoU.
I think it has a little more armor? There are only so many major changes you can make to the costume. Unless they want to get the chainmail look in there.
Personally I think Beast is a better Avengerbthan X man
Well Beast didn't totally fuck up the timestream while on the Avengers, so naturally.
I've yet to see one.

Again, Thunderbolt fucking Ross is on teamstark. That's the wrong team to root for.
More like Stark is on Team Ross

Which is worse, actually.
Russos Cap is pretty OP. This is the guy who sends enemies flying with a single kick, can tank massive falls without injuries, take the brunt of a grenade blast and then survive crashing through a bus as the bus crashes

Seems like comics Cap to me.
I know Daredevil probably won't make a cameo (a wasted oppurtunity) but they best at least reference a masked vigilante running around Hell's Kitchen when talking about registration.

A name drop will make me very happy.
Would make me happy to, but I wouldn't bet on it too much. This movie seems more focused on enhanced individuals, and I doubt anyone cared enough to find out if the Devil of Hell's Kitchen has super powers.
Thunderbolt's large document reads:

The

Sokovia Accords

Framework for the Registration

and

Deployment

of

Enhanced Individuals.
Better than comics Civil War already
Real reason why they fighting.
Damn
#TeamWhiskey
Respect
I dunno about all that.

It's not that people don't die in comics, it's that they don't stay dead.
And so far, only one MCU person has legitimately died and come back to life.
Did Olsen not say Scarlet Witch was going to be a wild card in civil war? So might not be on either side.
All promo stuff seems to suggest otherwise.

Glad to see Tony getting his ass whooped.
"I was your friend too"- since when? He's always been a dick.
I fucking hate MCU tony so much.

Actually...that may just be how Tony shows affection. Hell, he treats Happy and Pepper the same. Maybe he always thought he and Steve were pals?

Makes it even sadder.

Which is why its great that his arc seems to be having finally gained some self awareness. Seriously, that's why I really hope the movie is about ideology, because maybe he's right, maybe someone should have been preventing him from just doing whatever he wanted

I mean, ultimately Tony was RIGHT in the comics. All the destruction caused by Civil War proved that superheroes are incredibly dangerous. And that there should be some form of countermeasure or system in place to monitor them.

Doesn't mean he wasn't still responsible for that death by being a douche and going about things the wrong way because he's an arrogant prideful narcissistic prick. Comic civil war wasn't really a battle of ideology when you boil it down. It was two prideful idiots getting a lot of innocents killed because neither could put their dick away once it was out.

These movies man. Why is German tax payer money still financing this? They seem to have shot at Flughafen Leipzig Halle LOL as if anything is happening there, other than German tax money going to Marvel so they have an isolated scene staged there.
So much for story integrity.

My faith in Marvel movies could not be lower, I dont know how they get away with it

So how many heroes are showing up in this? 12?

Iron Man
Captain America
The Winter Solider
Scarlet Witch
Hawkeye
Falcon
War Machine
Black Widow
Ant-Man
Spider-Man
Black Panther
Vision

I hope they have the guts to kill either cap or iron man

I don't think they will - the actors bring audiences. I can see them almost killing Cap though and Bucky is there with the shield ready to take over as Cap and then he comes back. I have a feeling Infinity War (either part) may have more deaths.

Before Infinity War? Doubtful. Even then, if (and it's a big IF) they do, it'll probably be Cap, at which point the mantle will get passed to either Bucky or Sam. Most likely Bucky, though I'd prefer Sam.

Cap doesnt die. Chris Evans said he has 9 months already booked, ready to film infinity war part 1 and 2 back to back.

Which is why its great that his arc seems to be having finally gained some self awareness. Seriously, that's why I really hope the movie is about ideology, because maybe he's right, maybe someone should have been preventing him from just doing whatever he wanted

But I thought at the end of AoU, it was Captain America suggesting the need for safeguards, mane iron man disagreeing? Or did I get that backwards?

Looks about right. And in canon but off screen having adventures:

Thor
Hulk
Daredevil

It really is amazing what Marvel has built. 10 of those characters you listed have been introduced, developed, etc. That's insane to think about.

If War Machine dies I riot. I'm so happy for him, he's an Avenger now! He's come a long way dammit, don't do him dirty mahvel :(

He feels so forced in though :/

Can't really say scarlet witch, hawkeye, falcon, war machine, black widow, black panther and vision have been developed at all. Introduced yeah, pretty well I'd say, but we don't know much shit about em actually.

I hope they have the guts to kill either cap or iron man

I really doubt that will happen until Civil War, at which time I expect they may kill off a few characters in order to replace them with cheaper actors.

Black Widow
Ant-Man

I think that's right. It's every hero so far in the film universe so far bar Thor and Hulk. Don't forget others who are going to be in the film:

Baron Zemo
Crossbones
Red Hulk (rumoured)

It's going to be very busy.
