Ah, OK. Thanks.

This can be traded then.

As good as the game was, I am a little disappointed by just how short it turned out to be.

Just out of curiosity. Did you do all the books and the bonus section? Make sure you don't miss out on those.

Getting 100% in the game took me about 18 hours. Which I thought was ok for a discount price.

I've not done the bonus section, no. Are they not just levels taken from Super Mario 3D World? Or have I got that wrong?

3D World is the next Wii U game I'm getting. So I don't want to spoil that.

Bought this for my kid. Ended up turning it back on again after she went to sleep and knocking over some of the tougher stages toward the end of book 2. Sooo good.

Just the first 4 (or was it 5?) levels in the Bonus book are related to 3D World. They are not huge spoilers, since they play differently to 3D World (they just explain how Captain Toad ended up in those levels in 3D World). After those levels, it's other stuff, and then it's the final challenge (which will guaranteed take you a few hours). I don't think it's a short game if you play until you get
the crown
.

I 100% the game today, according to the activity log it took 10:39, I did let it idle once for half an hour though. Did everything except the time trials. MMMF wasn't as bad as I was expecting, only died once. Happy with the game overall, a bit short though.

Too bad they got "Ready for adventure" wrong though XD.

It always sounds to me like he's saying "Diaper Adventure!"

Great game, started playing this week and made it through the main game though haven't 100%ed it yet. I just don't like the spots where you have to blow to move the platforms. Other than that I really love action/puzzlers and games like this usually are resigned to the digital dustbins.

Finally got around to beating the game today. Great game. The last book definitely upped the difficulty. Going back and getting the checkmarks is going to be a fun challenge.

Ask me about the moon landing or the temperature at which jet fuel burns. You may be surprised at what you learn.
Seeing this thread on the front page just motivated me to play this game for the next hour or two before I go to sleep.

You truly are majestic GAF

FIVE THOUSAND COINS?!?!?!

UMPOSSIBLE!

After saying this game was a bit short, I have since played about 5-6 more hours. Jeez. GOTY.

You know what's funny? Coins are probably the easiest thing to archive.
Collect all the coins from the first 20 levels and you're literally half way there.
Plus you get like 1800 coins in the very last level thanks to a lot of golden mushrooms using the pickaxe

The hard thing is to actually get to the final level. Some late levels are just bizarre.
Also, FUCK those fire piranha plants. They always manage to hit me (either with a fire ball or a bite) D:<

It's exactly the fire piranhas that are doing me in. Haha. I've managed to get up to just under 4000 coins so far. After about 10 attempts. This could make me go insane. Quite easily.

Once you get there you should really madly tap the fire pirahnas to stun them. Can't stress how hepful this will be. Don't worry too much about the Mummy-Me since it slows to the same speed as you. It's really more like the game Snake, where it's a "tail" rather than a pursuing enemy that seeks the shortest route.

Also not sure if you've figured this out but the 5000 coin thing is almost impossible NOT to get by the time you finish level 50 (the last one). If you just go for the shortest route to the exit and get any coins along the way, you'll reach the 5k without any problem. There's a lot of
bonus coins on level 50 anyway.

Just finished the main adventure collecting all the gems. I probably did half the challenges naturally. Started the bonus book and it's pretty fun but not sure I'm going to 100% complete this.

Game got fairly challenging the last few levels and is exactly what I was hoping for. It was a nice break from more serious games. Definitely worth the price tag for the amount of content and bonus material.

I wish some of the levels had a little more challenge but I can see that they didn't want it to be too frustrating (I got a little frustrated going for some of the challenges). I used 3 continues trying to figure out how to get the second gem on that lava rising ghost level.

Loads of charm, controlled well (don't get the gyro complaints), and beautiful looking.

Edit: all said and done about 7 1/2 hours and could see another 5-6 hours completing everything 100%

Lol, maybe I just take a lot of time with this game? Apparently clocked about 30 hours on the game. It's funny how I was having so much trouble with MMMF over the past couple days, and I come back today and beat it on my first try =). I'm so not doing it again though lol. I would be surprised if I clocked another 5-10 hours just on MMMF though. It's probably longer than most Kirby games, so for $40 it's not a bad deal at all.

Ah right. So forget about the coins and just make it to the end of each level?

I always forget that I can tap the Gamepad to stun enemies. Dammit.

Thanks.

No, don't "forget about the coins". Just go for easy ones/ones that don't require a big detour.

Also, another tip is that when you make it to a safe room, pull up each turnip yourself, and then grab the pickaxe and immediately go to the next area. The make a beeline straight for the exit. The pickaxe will last long enough to let you smash a direct path to it.

As for problematic enemies (blue Shy Guys and firespitting Piranha Plants, simply keep your finger on the screen, and swipe over them constantly to keep them stunned while you move past (this also allows you to continue watching the TV screen, rather than the Gamepad). Try to angle the camera into a decent position before you approach them, so you won't need to juggle repositioning the camera and swiping the screen simultaneously.

When Bullet Bills appear, you can sometimes take advantage of shortcuts they create.

Don't run. There's no reason to, and it just makes things harder for yourself. Walk, and use camera to look around whenever possible to look for the correct route.

Finished up Episode 2 today, I think it was my first time playing in over a month. Really enjoyed my time with the game. All Off-TV play as before, and it was charming and relaxing to get some Diamonds and finish that Episode. Onward to Ep. 3, only done the prologue so far!

Not actually that important
Just bought this, my first (and probably forever only if you don't count Wii Sports U Clubs) digital retail on WiiU but I couldn't pass it up for €21 and if I really, really love it and absolutely must own it in my collection then nothing'll stop me from getting a boxed used copy, game's cheap enough.
Keep in mind I still (sob) haven't played 3d world so I'm not familiar with Toad's levels and I only ever watch the E3 reveal and a launch trailers called iirc 60 levels or something... it looked great and super charming.

Anything I should know to enjoy this to the fullest? Thanks :)

I am already fucking annoyed at Nintendo's stubbornness, why the fuck isn't there an option to turn off the gyroscope'a camera controls? FFS I hate it!
And I speak as a big fan of well done motion controls/pointer/gyro aiming.
But here it really sucks, it's totally unnecessary and at least gimme a fucking option!!

More options certainly would have been nice. But here it never bothered me. I used the right stick to adjust the camera (did you notice that already?), and the gamepad was resting on my lap. Because it didn't move, there was no gyro-interference either.

Well I hold the GAMEPAD like I do a controller and obviously I happen to move while playing, so it's super annoying. Yes I noticed that's why I'm baffled since I could've understood if the right stick was used for a different mechanic. You can also tap the shoulder buttons and use the right trigger to re-center the camera behind Toad. I have to say that this early it's giving me the vibe of a title created to be played on a handheld, with how far the camera is placed and the Y button to zoom in... sometimes I find it a bit confusing to navigate toad while watching it on the TV and I find myself falling back on the Gamepad's screen a bit too often for my tastes... I mean, it's great for off tv play but the gfx are so colorful and rich that I want to experience them on the big screen, unfortunately it's not that big for how far I sit. I wish for this game the U was hooked up to the projector like the X1 and PS4, but it's too "social" of a system to relegate it to my mancave ;)

Still, game's great so far.

Really charming game. But short.

From what I've seen there's a lot to do if you 100% the game, which makes sense for a title of this kind imo. Did I get the wrong impression?

I absolutely agree with you that it gyro-cam should just be optional and that the game is too pretty for the small screen. I actually got used to the controls after a short while and then played the whole game on the telly (with the exception of the touch levels). I hope you find a way to get used to the gyro.

And finishing the game with 100% took me about 18 hours, so it's definitely an ok length

I completed this game (in terms of beat all the levels of the episodes available) and was already satisfied: lovely, simply lovely.
than, I started also the bonuses and started to try to complete it for real.
it's amazing.

So I just got back into playing this for the first time since December. I finished the first book. I went back to one of the levels in it and I saw that there are what appears to be time challenges. Now I have a question. If you select one of the levels, does a timer appear or do you have to do it as fast as you can and see the results when you're done?

There's a timer. Time challenges are very rough. The short levels have very annoying challenge times and some of the longer ones are pretty difficult.

Hahaha I had accidentally found the spinning animation before but had no idea it was actually an attack.

This game is so full of little details. I'm starting Episode 3 and really loving the game.
