Capturing video on a computer

Is there another way to transfer video from a digital vcr to a computer without dealing with my "incoming video only" ATI graphics card? <<--- only method I can think of but the movie would look BAD if I record it that way. Do I have to purchase a separate device?

Finally bought a new PSP, but then pushed the demon onto someone else. Jesus.
There are two kinds of video... Digital and analog.

In order to capture the video digitally, you'll need a firewire capture card. To do so with analog, you'll need a capture/TV card w/ composite and/or s-video in.

You can grab the latter for less than 50 bucks, and it will give you the ability to watch television and record shows and sh!t. Should be standard in PCs IMO.
