I spotted this game in my shelves and took it out for a spin. I never did get past that damn level 20, Death keeps killing me, and being thrown all the way back through the level to try again tries my weakass patience. Anyway, some thoughts.
How the HECK did this get away with a 12+ rating (dunno about the US one)? Level 20 is filled with naked dismembered bodies hanging around (literally), and the entire place just makes me uncomfortable. Definitely the sickest Castlevania.
About the video of Iga, it's a sad (although understandable) thing that this game didn't sell at all. Clearly he was planning a remake of Rondo or possibly Dracula's Curse. I wonder if one of them is considered for the portables. Then again Dawn didn't sell too well either ;(
I wonder about that new game he was talking about. Must have been Lament, right? Or was it Harmony? The video was made 2001-ish.
Also, I'd like to see another remake of Castlevania 1 and Simon's Quest, not just with red hair added on Simon but with the gameplay mechanics of Julius Mode. It's so much fun controlling the modern Belmonts (Richter and Julius) compared to Simon and Trevor. With all those games laying around (and several tile sets already finished, like the beginning area of CV1 in Dawn), it should be easier than a brand new Castlevania. A Zero Mission style remake would be amazing.
Heck, anything, just give me more (2D) Castlevania.
