I'm glad I can go somewhere and get lectured about responsibility from a 14-year old girl.

You know, I never fail to be amazed that people here think that bitching about the crappiness of the world is all that people do here. Plenty of people do lots of things to help out. Maybe we're not all Olimarios and don't like bragging about it.

Then why not do something about it? Write some fucking letters, put up some signs, print out some news stories, vote, whatever. I'm in agreement that the administration is fucked up, but what has anyone here done to publically voice their opinion besides bitching about it here and in blogs that the general public doesn't read?
protests, speak-outs, letter writing, voting and joining campaign staffs to get the vote out and even having position papers published. i think i have the right to bitch, dickhole.

fuck. i'm even considering actually running for congress in my local district cuz I can't stand what an asshat, stand-up for Bush my local congressman is.

Lemurs just needs a boyfriend, then all will fall into place. Really, what makes her think people aren't already out there protesting and doing things. The mainstream media just downplays or doesn't cover any of the protesting to give an impression that none of it happens.

Besides, writing a letter to Bush to stop his madness is about the same as writing a letter to the local drug dealer to stop selling crack. Can't just say "please stop" to a fucking criminal.

Then why not do something about it? I'd say bitching about it so much that people start creating GAF threads is enough.

Maybe the reason why people are so pissed is that everyone has tried all the methods that you have suggested, but it hasn't worked, and not necessarily because there hasn't been enough (though I will agree that there really hasn't been) but in some instances, calls to actions have been squashed by those in power.

BTW, if bad news makes you sad, then stop paying attention and help makes things even worse. The truth hurts kid.

I would say that my working on a clean energy campaign this summer that openly criticized the administrations policies would count as doing something about it. Just because most of us don't use GAF as our personal livejournal doesn't mean that we aren't actually going out to make a difference.

Never thought there werent a few people here who do go out and try to make a difference. I know there are. I just can't fathom how obvious the crimes of the administration are to us and not to others. Who to those who are aware, justify it in the name of liberty.

Adopting a kid is a bit different than arguing. Why don't you go have sex without a condom and blissfully ignore the fact that putting your penis in a womans vagina creates an embryo which turns into a human being.

Have you been scared straight?

No, but for some reason I love your avatar. People here know what I look like so I don't see the point so much. I'll check in every so often to show the progress of my looks. :3

I'd rather cut off my balls then go anywhere near a woman's vagina.

Why don't you keep talking, blissfully unaware that your hot air keeps contributing to the problem of global warming?!

once again, I'm glad I have somewhere to go where a 14 year old girl can lecture me on responsibility. Hooray, GAF!

At least everyone who knows, since the general public who gets their news from cable and local news channels miss out on the SEVERAL "little" things that put things into perspective, and even some huge things that FOX, CNN, MSNBC, ect. ect. doesn't deem newsworthy.
Most-if-not-all of the news posts here link to articles from major news outlets, or commentaries on the same.

Um, voted for the other guy? Pretty much all anyone can do right now is try to get enough people riled up that Congress calls for impeachment hearings, and that's what people are doing in their editorials and blogs and protests. That's the mechanism. What more do you want, armed rebellion?

Which aren't broadcast on television. At least 51% of the population can't use the internet or read a newspaper according to the 2004 study that took place on October 1st.

Unbold the girl part, I don't see how that part makes a difference. If I say something stupid you can argue it's because of my age but not because of my gender.

I think its important for people to continue noting problems with the administration, or any other political issue.

Sure, half of it is preaching to the choir, but eventually some complaints reach new ears and that's when change can happen. Bush's approval rating has been dropping consistantly. I'd say this is a direct result of new people hearing about what he's up to and finally coming to the conclusion that they're not down.

That's why we can't let up. The guys on the other side wouldn't were they in our situation.

Hey Lemurs, think you could maybe sometime make a thread that doesn't involve you spouting propoganda from whomever stopped by your house/church/school this afternoon? It's just getting old, coming into your threads and having it start off as a tired argument from post one.

Kerry got 49% of the vote. That's a minority, but not THAT much of a minority. We can't help that ~3.5 million people, most of them being fundamentalist Christians, blindly support this administration.

Oh,

But much-if-not-all of the TV news (that's not breaking or not ongoing coverage of things like missing people, or trial speculation) in the US is driven by the major print organizations--like the NYT and Washington Post--and wire services such as the AP and Reuters.

Something about calling a 15 year old girl "dickhole" sounds really harsh.

With the renaming of the thread I hear by propose we rename "Cat rooster" to something with a bit more zing, to: Carooster or Catooster.
