I wonder what % of the black vote Carson would get in the general election. Probably not near as high as Obama did but I think he would flip a lot of black democrats

Why? I'm very interested in your reasoning for Carson grabbing "a lot" of black Democrats. You'll get bonus points if you come up with something more than "he's black and black people like other black people, duh!"

Looking at Trump's reaction to any poll that shows Carson pulling ahead, there is no way he walks away quietly if he doesn't get the nomination. Polls that he was praising earlier in the year, he is now saying are unscientific and inaccurate. He is going to bring the entire GOP down in 2016 if be gets looked over
Yeah dude thinking he will win every state. His ego won't let him believe otherwise.

This poll is quite different than other polls that came out today.

Morning Consult has Trump 35% and Carson 20%.

OANN/Gravis has Trump 36% Carson 22%.

When's the next republican debate? I'm gonna need to stock up on snacks. This next level social commentary is filling the Chappelle's Show-shaped hole in my heart.

Haha, only in your mind bruh.

Nah, if there's something that will definitely destroy your chances with black voters, it's being known as a black guy who throws black people under the bus, and double down on it.

That's how black voters see Ben Carson. That, and boring as fuck.

So is Carson the Gingrich/Santorum/Cain of this election by leading for a period of time in some polls or can he win the nomination?

Lmao, as stupid as Carson is, he actually has tried to put out a policy beyond "build a wall" and "I'm great, let me tell you how great I am". Trump has offered little to no specifics about anything he wants to do and when asked, he just says that he won't reveal his plans so that the enemy doesn't get them and allows him to have the element of surprise.

Trump has recently released lots of specifics...
At least regarding taxes.

Ben has like nothing.

It does seem like head to head polls have Carson doing the best against Clinton of all republicans primarily because he does better among black people, but that could be because people don't exactly know a ton about Carson yet.

If that holds it's maybe theoretically possible he takes it from Obama's 96%-3% among black people down to Kerry's 88%-11%, which would be significant, but he's never, ever going to come close to winning the black vote outright.

You know, I think the Democrats crush Carson. Not so sure it would be as easy if it was Trump. Everybody knows him and he has lots of funds to play around with. I say go Carson!

Jury's definitely out on the CBS poll for now, but it was a five-day poll with live phone interviews. The Gravis poll was just an automated phone survey on Monday night. Haven't looked at Morning Consult yet.

Why is he getting so much support? He has the most dull speaking style ive ever heard from a candidate and he constantly says so much bullshit that doesn't make sense, even from his own perspective. It's like he doesn't even know what he's saying. Trump seems like a sane person compared to him.

The most recent PPP North Carolina poll had Carson getting 14% of the black vote against Hillary and 20% against Bernie. So an increase but nothing enormous.

I'd question how much even that would hold up if he became the general election candidate though. All his statements would be on full blast then and erode those gains probably.

Man I can't wait for tomorrow. I suppose Carson and Trump will be standing right next to each other smack in the middle.
