Isn't Carson doing better in the general election polling than Trump? Am I mistaken?

This isn't a good thing. The guy has proven himself as a bumbling moron in the debates but I don't think he's as much of a caricature as Trump.

Not sure but GE polls are even sillier than primary polls at this point. (Quick glance shows Giuliani neck-and-neck with Clinton and Obama in head-to-heads in October 2007.)

If Jeb and Rubio never gain traction we might see the establishment have to decide between backing Trump/Carson or CRUZ.

I actually think Cruz would lose the GE worse than Carson and Trump, so I'd love that scenario.

I think Ben Carson would probably be a somewhat less destructive president, and he also might be easier for a Democratic candidate to defeat.

Carson is actually worse than Trump in the end... because in the end Trump is just going to do what his advisers tell him.. but not Carson.. he's legit crazy.

Trump tends to prefer yes men over allies who can critically provide an opposing viewpoint. You're banking too much on Trump being openminded enough to change his underlying positions. He's only openminded enough for viewpoints that challenge implementation to achieve his goals but not open enough to challenge whether or not the goals should be set in the first place.

Carson has admitted to attempting to stab someone. Could you imagine if Obama said that? He has no platform, and unlike Trump, he has no charisma. I don't get it

A Carson vs. Clinton debate will be really really awkward.

Seeing Carson get gutted is going to be like watching a snuff film.

Yet ~1/2 the country would probably come away feeling like he won the debate.

The flight plan I just filed with the agency list me, my men, Dr. Pavel here. But only one of you!

Yeah, when you hear everything Clinton says as "I'm an evil bitch that wants to destroy America and steal your guns" the actual merits of the debate don't really matter.

All according to plan. Now Carson will collapse post-debate, leaving Rubio the chance to shoot up right before Iowa. Trump will probably remain in 2nd place for a little bit longer.

Clinton vs Rubio, calling it

Rubio and Bush paying the price for all of the anti-government rhetoric from the Republican Party for the last 30 years. Guess what, idiots, you are Government and you turned your base against you. Good job.

Rubio is still going to win. The benefactors will see to it.

Cruz is uniquely situated right now. Well-funded. Elected, but he doesn't have the stench of Washington establishment on his reputation. I still have him in my final four.

I'd rather have Trump at this point.

That's scary.

I really hope the younger generation wakes up for ALL upcoming elections. We need to completely eviscerate the current Republican Party so they can reform and try again.

Scott Walker and Rick Perry had two of the largest warchests in the GOP field and they're already out and Jeb! is falling behind at a rapid pace. I don't think big donors will be the deciding factor in the primary race.

Ben Carson has even less of a chance then trump at betting Hillary during the general. Atleast trump had endless barrels of charisma.

Carson's violent past is interesting when you combine it with the fact he seems sedated 24/7.

There's honestly something kind of unsettling about him.

His demeanor is very influenced by his church. Glenn Beck had Carson's pastor and church members on his show last week and EVERYONE spoke exactly like Ben Carson with that eerie even-keeled sleepy tone. Apparently it's an important element of their beliefs.

I wonder how many Conservatives are familiar with something Carson said at a SDA gathering in Australia about a year ago regarding the end times:

I don't know what role the Lord has for me in all this. I do know—and looking at prophecy—that the United States will play a big role, that there has to be a return first to a religious awakening, and, more than likely, any persecution, particularly of the Sabbath, will come from the right, not from the left.

I doubt that would sit too well with the Evangelical base. Someone should tweet that to Trump.

This is madness, absolute madness.

I kinda wonder how states like West Virginia will deal with that. Either voting Democrat (most likely Clinton) or Black POTUS #2. I suspect a lot of people would just stay home.

Hillary will carry WV by a big margin against Carson. The state is deeply racist.

And let's not ignore the fact that Carson can't even articulate his own policies. At least Trump has all the bullshit he's spewing straight and can answer questions about them when directly asked.
Lmao, as stupid as Carson is, he actually has tried to put out a policy beyond "build a wall" and "I'm great, let me tell you how great I am". Trump has offered little to no specifics about anything he wants to do and when asked, he just says that he won't reveal his plans so that the enemy doesn't get them and allows him to have the element of surprise.

Bullshit.

Compare these pages and tell me which "policy" has more substance.

I'd actually prefer to see Carson over Trump in the general. Carson doesn't strike me as a very good debater, and his positions are absolutely batshit crazy, so much so that I'm not sure that he'd be able to run toward the center to pick up independents - the center is far too far away from him. Hillary would wipe the floor with him in a debate, and she's almost certainly more likely to sway independent voters than he would.

I wonder what % of the black vote Carson would get in the general election. Probably not near as high as Obama did but I think he would flip a lot of black democrats

We already had our first black president and he didn't really change shit for black people. Carson seems poised to do even less. Not sure how much his simply being black will turn the tide with that group of voters.

Hillary is wife of "the first black president" before Obama so there's also that.

Yeah, black democrats will be racing to vote for a guy who compares Obama to Hitler and basically says black democrats are fools being manipulated by the media.

davepoobond

you can't put a price on sparks
At least trump seems to understand the major issues he is talking about to some degree (whether they are right or wrong is besides the point)

Whereas Carson is just completely clueless and he wouldn't even be making the decisions in the end, he would have to deliberate to his staffers for everything

Grizzlyjin

Supersonic, idiotic, disconnecting, not respecting, who would really ever wanna go and top that
Looking at Trump's reaction to any poll that shows Carson pulling ahead, there is no way he walks away quietly if he doesn't get the nomination. Polls that he was praising earlier in the year, he is now saying are unscientific and inaccurate. He is going to bring the entire GOP down in 2016 if be gets looked over
