CD Projekt Red is halting the sales of their games in Russia

Alone, it will not. Together with all other entities doing similar thing, it may push Russians to protest, speak up agains the leader etc.
How will Apple's withdrawal help?
How will Google ban on ads help?
How will Ikea withdrawal help?
And so on.
From the looks of things they already are protesting.
And if folk who aren't against death towards others then I can't imagine this would be a swaying point.
I just don't see the point either tbh.

The company's that have pulled will just effects civilians entertainment and leisure activity's.
It's not basic essentials.
It's just all feels very PR.

And I certainly don't see the point in games company's pulling services.
VPN's and piracy will just shoot up.

Let me strongly disagree. What are you expecting, a russian teenager to prepare a molotov and try to kill Putin? This is just virtue signaling in pure state. If not, would love to know why CDP is still operating in China where Uyghur genocide is taking place, or many of the islamic countries were stoning to death of womans and minorities is accepted.
Prob because they live next to Ukraine and we as humans only care when things hit closer to home.

Those things you mention are indeed horrible, but you're comparing apples and oranges. You're comparing human rights abuses within a country's borders vs a country committing an act of war, invading and trying to annex a neighboring country.

And a nation's ability to wage war + occupy another nation (as well as a dictator's ability to maintain power in general) is highly dependent on the popular approval at home.

So yes, cutting them off from commerce with the west is a legit tactic and might be the best chance we have to end this aggression without turning it into a hot war between Russia & NATO.

We need to make this as costly as possible for Russia. Every little bit helps.

Oh, want apples to apples? Irak and the weapons of mass destruction.
A fake edited word doc was enough to declare a war and bring a civil war to an entire country.
legit tactic ?

What are you arguing? Please rephrase your angry ranting in the form of a coherent argument and then I will respond.

Punishing Russian gamers is going to backfire. Putin doesnt care about video games.

I think corporations and especially the entertaintment industry in general needs to be apolitical. Witcher 4 is not going to convince any Russian to go fight Putin. It might have the opposite effect and create a feeling of abandonment and fester an us vs them attitude that plays right into Putin's hands.

I'm plenty sure Russians gamers will understand the difference between their murdering leader and companies issuing sanctions on Russia.

The thing that people posting this meme seem to miss is that the wrong ones are the first five.

It's like people don't even know Russia has done this to Syria and Crimea in the not so distance past also. Plus do any of these kids know what the USSR is and why Putin wants to go back to those days?

How will this help exactly?
it will make russians more aware thar they are supporting pure evil and that stopping to do it is only right choice, or they gotnna get screwed together with putin, back in the 80s communism so soviet russia didnt fell coz of western army but coz eastern economy got fucked in the ass so badly ppl couldnt hold it any longer- proof- my country-poland

Some do know, some were against it, majority of the west didnt care tho, now west finally started carring coz its hard to unsee all those vids of civilians murdered they get bombarded on a daily basis with, ofc its nothing to get bombarded with actual rockets but every bit of awarness help, that way each country's nations can preasure their leaders for even more sanctions,

I honestly don't understand what your argument is. I made an argument in favor of cutting Russia off from commerce with the west and you responded with something about Iraq. If you have an actual argument to make then let's hear it.

To all those geo-political and history buffs I keep seeing in these threads, I highly recommend Gary Kasparov's Winter is Coming. Much to be learned and well written.

Anyhow back to video games.

irak war was comparable to this war, and no sanctions to US were made. That was my point.

I just saw Witcher 3 on steam being mixed with 66%, its probably because of that. All their games are getting review bombed everywhere.
Even on Metacritic, Witcher 3 was 9.4, now its 9.1 and declining quickly.
Is this what gamers do when they want to protest? lol petty and sad.

Many recent events just proved to me that Steam reviews are as shit as Metacritic user reviews. Elden Ring supposed "terrible" performance review bombing is also another recent case of proof not to Trust Steam plebs.
