Is Orion the next Cyberpunk?

CDPR stuck making cross gen games every generation? I'd rather they take a couple more years and make it a proper next gen one (probably gonna happen if "not before 2027" is their estimate anyway)

These large AAA games are way too expensive to depend on only next gen launch with limited user base and PC.

And now Cyberpunk is made in a Boston studio which is AAA+ sort of cash required.

A Studio in Boston? Are they mad?

Like Boston is more expensive than LA.

Those are rookie numbers. How many consultants?

Those are crazy numbers. Yet we are so far away from release. Seriously, why do we need so many people and so much time to make a game?

I just don't understand how it can take over 400 people more than 5 years to make a game?
I suppose the voice acting and translation for a game like The Witcher must be a huge task, but still..

I don't think those numbers include voice actors, only full-time employees. Also, it's not 400+ employees for the entire development cycle. During the first year or two, they usually have around 100 people and then scale up as the game leaves pre-production.

Additionally, remember that they plan to release three new Witcher games within six years of the first one's release. I imagine they are now focusing on creating assets, animations, etc., that will be used throughout the trilogy. This way, they can minimize pre-production time for the remaining two games and focus on full development.

Witcher 4 cross-gen and hopefully Cyberpunk goes next-gen only to really push the boundaries, I assume we're looking at ~4 years in.

You have to make all the assets which is a huge task for a game of such size as TW3/CP2077.
Add some (mis)management issues on top of that leading to assests refactoring and pivoting the whole development in different directions, and 5 years won't look like a long time.

It's one of the simpler ones actually as it's usually done when the game is already in beta and all content is basically produced.
It is also highly likely to be fully outsourced as game studios don't generally have their own acting departments.

Because they are less talented than the devs from 10 years ago.

Call of Duty 4 was made by such a small team that they included the receptionist in the credits.
