CDPR officially apologises for hiding the console versions and promises quick updates and refund option

much appreciation* to these guys. they've been all about no-drm and all that pro-user stuff for years and i appreciate it. my ps4 pro version isn't awesome, but you've never seen me complain about it on any of these threads because i know that the bugs will get fixed eventually.

Base console version is "playable" in February? Feel bad for folks getting it as an Xmas gift.

Playstation refunds are almost impossible to get too, I wonder if they've agreed something with Sony before advising folks to go that route?

The game shouldn't have come out on last gen consoles.
It runs fine on current gen.

It's a PS5/XSX game trying to run on 7-year old hardware.

What I learned most from following the game industry for long time is that some companies can get a free pass for anything they throw at you (CD project, Rockstar, Nintendo, Steam) while others can be massacred for the slightest blunders (all others)

Its good that they apologized but I wish they handled the launch a little better, this launch remindes me of Fallout 4.

I expected the game to be as buggy, or buggier than Witcher 3 on launch. Clearly the entire fucking Internet forgot exactly how bad W3 was on launch since it was like... 9001 centuries and one day ago in Internet Time™. Yet Witcher 3 is one of the absolute most loved games today.

So... eh.

Good move by CDPR tho. They made the entirety of their development cost back... and now they get to look good for putting out an 'honest' (insert MiyazakiHatesKojima MiyazakiHatesKojima 's GIF here) apology and have bought themselves the necessary time to fix the game up to the level W3 is.

"sorry we lied"

"Sorry we got caught, we hoped you would be hyped enough to make excuses up for us for long enough to give us time to fix the worst of it with patches in the months ahead and repeat the cycle again"...

Who could have thought crunch could produce a buggy game when management was trying to rush a holidays release showing as much contempt for their users as they do for their workforce ...

This reminds me of the days when they used to advertise home ports of arcade games, with great-looking screenshots in tow.

The small print at the bottom would read "Arcade screenshots".

I learned pretty quick that me C64 and Amiga wouldn't be delivering the same experience :)

Looks like they have:

Now that we know they can do it pressure needs to be applied so that a decent refund policy can apply to all games.

Nowadays you can release games in a poor state and then apologize.

The end result is people telling/thinking : "Good guys, making an apology is awesome, thank you so much CDPR !".

I played Witcher 3 on OG Xbox One at release, this is nothing new. I'm sure they'll patch it, but in the end the game should've been delayed more. But with people (and investors) complaining, I get why it was released now.

Lol at the PS at the end. "Oh yeah PC too, no worries!". Eh it's fine, besides npc spawns and some weird AI bugs I did not have any other issues whatsoever.

So you don't want them to also improve the game on PC?

Wtf is with "it's fine"? Why don't you take their cock out of your mouth.

Still seeing people defending this. I am really enjoying the game on PS5 even though the streets look like a barren wasteland, not a bustling metropolis. I will point to GTA5 which came at the end of the 360/PS3 generation and still holds up today, it was a complete game, fully finished and playable. Cyberpunk 2077 is a buggy mess even on PS5. I know people will say "pLaY It oN a HIgH eNd Pc pOoR PeaSAnT" but that is just a shit excuse, look at the hardware GTA5 ran on, it is still a technical marvel.

Good to hear some apologies

But dont make promisses, c'mon

"Patch 1 in January, Patch 2 in February"

You dont plan ahead fucking patches. That's damage control at its finest.

It reads as "everything will be adressed until February, trust us and keep buying copies pls"

Weird people are being so harsh on them for this message, feels like more than most devs would do? I never got a refund for Anthem.

Agreed, I can't think of many publishers who would do this. But then I also can't think of many who would release a game in such poor state to begin with. Swings and roundabouts.

So when can we expect the next gen version for this or witcher?
Honestly with amount of work that game needs on ps4 and x1 and pc to iron out the bugs and glitches and crashes , then focusing on ps5 and xsx version, I woukdnt hold my breath for anything before summer 2021.

Most major publishers have released games in states just as bad or worse, honestly.

It's crashed 8 times in my PS4 Pro, in the 7 years I've owned the console I've had maybe a grand total of 3 crashes in other games.

Let's not pretend cyberpunk isn't on the extreme end when it comes to bugs, I've also had to replay missions due to triggers not happening, and had all sorts of non-crash problems with it.

The game shouldn't have been released or certified in this state.

I assume PS5 owners can get a refund too? It might not perform as comically as it does on PS4 but it's no nearer to being a finished product.

The Witcher next gen patch is being done by Saber Interactive, not by CDPR

Regarding Cyberpunk's next gen patch: only God knows when. They will probably start making it after fixing all the bugs ,so probably by the end of next year, honestly.

Ps5 version is the ps4 version so yea same applies . I wouldnt touch this game till the next gen patch drops and by then hopefully bugs are also all ironed out

Did you buy games like ME Andromeda, Fallout 76, Batman Arkham Knight, Aliens Colonial Marines, Battlefield 4, Assassin's Creed Unity? How many big publishers don't have a bugfest under their belt?

Cool to see the gen end on a scam. But hey, they said "sorry".

They announced the next-gen version months before the release so I assume they've been working on them for a bit already. In fact, I wouldn't put it past the current-gen versions being such a shit show BECAUSE they pulled people off of those for the next-gen versions. I haven't picked up the game and never intended to at launch because they say ages ago: "Don't bother, better versions are already planned".
