CDPR officially apologises for hiding the console versions and promises quick updates and refund option

First things first, tag me if you wanna throw dirt, quite a cowardly move to go for someone when they're not looking no?

Secondly, I never once said the game wasn't a shitshow on last gen consoles, it's inexcusable and CDPR should apologize and offer full refunds to those users, I was talking about my experience on the PS5 which has been great and I've adored the 25 hours I've spent so far.

The game is not perfect in how it runs, I never said it was and no game really is, of course there are minor bugs that need fixing and major ones I have not ran into yet, my opinion yesterday was simply based off my PS5 experience which was very smooth and enjoyable.

Stop aimlessly hating on the game and trying to make people who are enjoying it feel wrong for doing so. That's pretty shitty of you.
Supporting and defending devs who put out shitty products is shitty behaviour. You reap what you sow.

I had intended to tag you but I'm on mobile and it wasn't working properly. I apologise for that.

I hope people take this release as a learning experience. Now I don't want to sound like one of those turds saying you deserve to get shit on but for the next little bit while developers are double dipping and releasing new games on previous gen platforms (mostly because they have to) wait for reviews and don't pre order as most times you wont get a refund.

I really wonder what OG PS4 and Xbone owners expected though. You have seen the trailers, gameplay footage etc. No way the consoles version will look like that. From the get go I knew the console versions were fucked. I would never pre order.

An argument could be those people never watched any footage but then I wonder what made you buy the game?

OG PS4 and Xbone owners saw and played RDR and Horizon among other games that run perfectly on those systems . Its not like Cyberpunk is some untoched masterpiece graphically or doing anything spectacular.

The game was rushed to make money.
The minimum they can do is to fix all the issues in all platforms.
The apology is nice but didn't make them right.

Consumers should show CDPR they won't accept these issues and only buy the game after all of that is fixed.

When CDPR get hurt in their pockets they will finally realize who big the issue is.

I mean they were more focused in release the 8 million pre orders news than work in their game.

All these guys gotta do is promise future content to be free and that'll be enough for most gamers. Just like Nintendo with Drift and RDR2 with outdated gameplay and controls, as long as you can appease gamers with what they want you can get away with anything.

They knew EXACTLY what they were doing. There is a reason no console footage was shown before release and there is a reason why they didn't send console codes to review and there is a reason why they didn't allow capture footage from PC before release. They know EXACTLY that not everyone will go through that horrible horrible experience of refunding a game from Microsoft or especially Sony.

As much as I love their support for Witcher 3. This is just ridiculous. It would be better if they said nothing than this obvious bullshit. C'mon CDPR, get the fuck out of here with that shit.
.

Good on them. Although i feel bad for the people working there especially the low rank ones. This must be an insanely stressful time for them.

Really hope this becomes a lesson for them (from announcement,to marketing and development) and they will not repeat the same mistakes with the next Witcher game which i assume will be their next title and the one i personally look forward the most from them since i'll be skipping Cyberpunk.

At least they will give refunds unlike Ubisoft and Creed Unity.

They knew the product was not done and not ready but released it anyway. Fuck em.

Even as a big CDPR shill (mainly due to GOG and their stance on DRM) this whole launch has been terrible in an inexcusable way.
I do hope they are at least working with Sony and MS so the refund process goes smoothly. Because otherwise at least on PSN most people will get a "lol, how about no?" answer from Sony when requesting it.

I think higher ups and marketing sees consumers as essentially drug addicts let alone what they think of their workers.

Good luck getting a refund from Sony. They know most people will not get a refund.

All they had to do was suck it up and delay the game into Q2/Q3 of next year... this is going to be such a huge black mark on CDPR going forward. Hope it was worth it.

The fact they have set up a dedicated official email address, helpmerefund@cdprojketred.com , suggests they will be helping people with refunds.

That's good.

There's a lot of talent at CDPR but there is also some bad decision making too. They could do with a shake up but as it's more than likely to be at the top I doubt it'll happen any time soon.
no optimisation talent apparently!
it all comes down to their crappy RED ENGINE
a nightmare to optimise

Lets not go down this road again and have the game engine be the boogyman. The Red Engine is fine... they simply rushed this game out and couldn't handle the amount of ports they took on.

Not the case for Red Engine but it is absolutely the case for Bethesda awful engine on top of the rushed product.

this does not contradict the complaints, rather complements them. I just felt that this needed to be mentioned as well. after all, the same devs developed this engine, so ..

They really should have delayed the console launch (honestly should have canceled the ps4 x1 versions). There is a 10/10 game in there they just have to fix it first. But what they did is still wrong though.

11 year old hardware.

Yes, let reality sink in

Damn, this hardware gets older all the time. Yesterday it was 10 years, now it's 11. Even though it's actually 7. Or I guess 8 if you want to count from when it was finalized. The GPU, RAM config, etc, in the PS4 were not available in 2009 lol.

Can I get a link to the tweet that isn't an embed? I can't view it or copy a link to get to it, I fucking hate twitter

edit: why not put this in an OP you make? Pasting tweets fastest.

When I was told a few weeks ago by a reviewer that "we don't worry about bugs much in our reviews people can refund them anyway." It was assuredly this. I argued against it and was told "well we sometimes just like games and don't know the exact reasons why something happens so we don't want to discuss it. "

It is now the buggiest game I have revied. Beating Unity

Bugs- 19 crash to OS on console.
29 stuck hud elements on
PC 15 loading new area errors

213 pathing errors resulting in pedestrians deaths or player negative feedback.
19 reloads due to quests refusing to progress
14 quests refusing to triggers initially
78 stuck hud elements on console
1 NPC missing their face
over 80% of the time lip synching fails on npcs

I should be clear. I ALWAYS track bugs of this scale. Not smaller pathing ones that don't hit me too much.
These are larger ones. And then summarize in the review. This is nuts. Some games I have maybe 2-8

waiting for my physical refund. i bought from bestbuy. how long babyyyy

i think this was a calculated risk. their reputation up to now was stellar, and this blemish will subside as time goes on. people will forget, but remember, and cdpr probably has the strategy that they will redeem themselves with the next game.

I don't defend CDPR for putting out a broken game on consoles, they're disgusting for doing that and the way they lied in their marketing is downright despicable, however I still love the game itself. It's my GOTY.

That's okay brother, you know I like you, just because we don't see eye to eye on this don't change that 🍻

good job by CDPR. they needed to address this because the important part is that they are offering refunds.
don't like it here is your money back.
now they need to go the no man sky route and don't say anything and just patch the game.

people are mad and they just want to destroy both cdpr and the game now so anything they say will get shit.
they can say we are not only offering a refund but we will pay every one that bought the game $60 more on top of that and people will say fuck you CDPR you and your broken game so there is no point.
sean murray was literally the worst lying scammer piece of shit in the world and now everyone loves him.

loving it on pc

Ok i have put over 30 hours into this game since Wednesday Night on PC , i have to say i am loving it. Figuring out the Cyberware to compliment my Hacking , Pistol waving Vee has been great. I haven't come across any game breaking bugs just a few T posses and clipping issues and 1 Crash. So my personal experience with it as been great.

However what CDPR did by releasing CP2077 on PS4 and Xbox in the condition it was is Scummy as fuck and they should be ashamed if themselves. For a company who are seen as so consumer friendly there reputation as now to a beating which will be remembered for a very long time.

the console versions needed to be delayed till February or March at the earliest.

That's good.

Good luck with that if you bought a physical copy, have you ever tried emailing a company with a complaint? They would need to set up a webpage where you fill out your info and attach your receipt and they mail you a cheque. Only way this is going to work well is if you use sony or MS support call in numbers where they can credit you back quickly.

What baffles me the most is that people still pre-order.

It's like the cattle are running smilingly towards their slaughter.

Why is this so baffling to people? I preorder games sometimes because I'm planning to buy a game, and sometimes you get free extras for it, why the fuck not. I have never had to cancel a preorder before, I've always preordered games I was 100% going to buy anyway. This is the first time I've ever preordered a dud to my knowledge, and I was able to cancel it after impressions were rolling in. I don't see a downside.

Nowadays you can release games in a poor state and then apologize.

The end result is people telling/thinking : "Good guys, making an apology is awesome, thank you so much CDPR !".
Yeah...the blame is totally on CDPR for releasing a product in such a state and promoting it with a misleading and dishonest marketing.

I know there was something bad when they did not give you review code.

Yeah, that's good.
For refund of retail copies it makes sense since retail can be trickier. But I hope they've talked and negotiated with the main digital storefronts so it works smoothly without people having to write to CDPR and having them mediate every refund request.
