CDPR officially apologises for hiding the console versions and promises quick updates and refund option

It's not inferior on last gen, it's broken.

They didn't let anyone see it, including reviewers, before release. And they did so because they knew it was broken.

That's lame.

Games having bugs is nothing new and I don't count a game that in the low 20 FPS as broken myself.

sure and they are giving people their money back if they don't want the game. what more do you want?
I want absolutely nothing since I don't enjoy their games. But as a product designed for the entertainment market releasing a product like this just ruins the amazing experience people were hoping for. Not everything is about money but ethics and respect for consumers also.

When I was told a few weeks ago by a reviewer that "we don't worry about bugs much in our reviews people can refund them anyway." It was assuredly this. I argued against it and was told "well we sometimes just like games and don't know the exact reasons why something happens so we don't want to discuss it. "

It is now the buggiest game I have revied. Beating Unity

Bugs- 19 crash to OS on console.
29 stuck hud elements on
PC 15 loading new area errors

213 pathing errors resulting in pedestrians deaths or player negative feedback.
19 reloads due to quests refusing to progress
14 quests refusing to triggers initially
78 stuck hud elements on console
1 NPC missing their face
over 80% of the time lip synching fails on npcs

I should be clear. I ALWAYS track bugs of this scale. Not smaller pathing ones that don't hit me too much.
These are larger ones. And then summarize in the review. This is nuts. Some games I have maybe 2-8

It's a crying shame that you couldn't get a review out there in time to warn people of all this.

The fact that they manipulated it so that outlets like yours weren't able to do the fully detailed analysis that you always do prior to release is heinous.

seppuku is the only way then. close the company we disrespected the consumer we have no honor

OG PS4 and Xbone owners saw and played RDR and Horizon among other games that run perfectly on those systems . Its not like Cyberpunk is some untoched masterpiece graphically or doing anything spectacular.

I beg to differ. All the footage you saw made it clear this game would be the new Crysis of this generation. RDR and especially HZD are a joke next to it with all due respect.

waiting for my physical refund. i bought from bestbuy. how long babyyyy

i think this was a calculated risk. their reputation up to now was stellar, and this blemish will subside as time goes on. people will forget, but remember, and cdpr probably has the strategy that they will redeem themselves with the next game.
Well, they made one good game so I think people brutally over-hyper themselves. Witcher 1 barely made a dot in the gaming landscape when it released and the same was true for 2. Only after Witcher 3 CDPR actually became popular (and buying GOG afterwards). It is a similar situation to Massive Entertainment, they made Ground Control and World in Conflict, all 3 incredible games so when they announced The Division I was certain that it would be a fantastic game. Not saying that The Division is bad but it isn't as cool as people expected it to be. Cyberpunk can still be good though, The Division is just dust in the wind now.

Go back and look at my older posts, I called it on the "2 months it would take to get current gen fixed " and 6 months for the next gen editions to be released.

I have no idea why they rushed this game out in the first place.... wow

They aren't sorry at all. They knew the state of it and that's why they didn't let anyone review it on console before launch. They just hoped enough people wouldn't be bothered to refund it since you have to sit in a 15-20 minute queue to get a support agent. They needed it out before Christmas to appease the shareholders and mission accomplished.

We lied and deceived you, scammed you and got your money, but hey we're sorry just wait for updates next year

and fools will fall for it

they are offering refunds.....

Most likely this was all planned and expected on CDPR side. However, they have a stellar record of patching up and then over-delivering. I'm not too worried and still enjoying the game in it's current form.

Unfortunately CDPR was caught in the middle of "release the game now or else!! Stocks dropping rabble rabble rabble" vs "OMG game not ultra high 200fps full ray tracing game not finished should of delayed it 6 months rabble rabble rabble" They knew that they could not win and probably decided releasing now and fixing over the coming month or 2 was the best course of action in the long run.

As a gamer, I would suggest accept the apology, refund if you want to its your right, keep the game if you want to and enjoy it as its also your right. Lets move on and look to the future.

The game shouldn't have come out on last gen consoles.
It runs fine on current gen.

It's a PS5/XSX game trying to run on 7-year old hardware.
LOL No it's not.

It doesn't even live up to last gen standards, not on looks, not on perfomance.

It's a poorly optimized game, that looks like trash even on current gen consoles and even then it can't even hold a locked 60fps or get above 1188p if I'm not mistaken. That is pathetic by every standard.

If you have it on console and plan to get a NG console I'd just wait and get your free upgrade.

Overall this is a damage control apology. Good step.

They did well in stating they have patches planned but they shouldn't be giving out the months for patches IMO given their track record of "no more delays". It's become a "boy cried wolf" situation for me at this point.

I think they did more then not show how the game performed on the consoles but also displayed one of the most shady review cycles I've ever seen with not letting reviewers use their own footage. I've never ever seen that before.

Their reputation took a heavy hit with how they handled this situation and it's going to take time for them to rebuild consumer trust.

How though not this game has been announced since almost a decade and there was no next gen confirmation until a couple of months ago and we didn't have BC information either, especially from Sony until a couple of months ago too.

This thread proves things can go even worse for you if you apologize than if you hadn't.

I keep wondering if this fiasco will result in stuff like... Halo Infinite current gen version dropped, Horizon Forbidden West current gen version dropped, etc. but I always look for the positives in such situations.

Why is this so baffling to people? I preorder games sometimes because I'm planning to buy a game, and sometimes you get free extras for it, why the fuck not. I have never had to cancel a preorder before, I've always preordered games I was 100% going to buy anyway. This is the first time I've ever preordered a dud to my knowledge, and I was able to cancel it after impressions were rolling in. I don't see a downside.
CDPR sees 50 billion pre-orders, it doesn't matter to them quite so much what state it releases in eh

good on them but the salty little kids have made their minds up.

i've been enjoying the game since day 1. the game looks amazing and runs smoothly for me on PC. if they are gonna make it better then shiiit i'm happy with that. while they work on these patches i'll be busy enjoying the game.

maybe look at yourselves if you're so mad. sure CDPR could've handled this better but a lot of the blame still goes to the people stupid enough to preorder.
Well we can tell you're a youngster.
"Mine works but who cares about a million other people who can't play it "

yup, these guys used to be the good no DRM guys, we are on the customer's side guys... now, well you know you can't trust them... they released a game more broken than an Assassin's Creed, which is saying something.

I don't see how this negates anything I said. Preorders give me bonuses and I can cancel at any time. I'm not locked into buying turds but they can fuck themselves into selling them apparently. Long as I'm not stuck with anything I don't see a downside to a preorder.

yes it's just an opportunity for people to attack you even more. offer refunds and go silent. just patch the game sean murray style

It gives a message to companies that they can release what they want because they already have you locked in

Anyone who says last gen consoles didn't negatively affect the final product is a moron.

This should've been next-gen and PC only. Imagine the level of effort they're going to put into last gen to make up for the launch condition. It's going to delay fixes, updates, and imrovements to the current gen and PC systems.

batman arkham knight was removed from steam bcuz of a poor pc version i remember, in any case i think cdpr games at launch are buggy and suffer from performance issues on consoles .

They really shouldn't have done that to begin with, but they learned the hard way I guess.

All of that Witcher 3 Success might've gotten to their heads somewhat and they got overconfident with CP2077.

I'm officially at my point in the CDPR cycle where I take a break from a newly released game until they fix it. This game suffers from the same things that I dislike the Witcher 3 for at launch. I'll wait till they get it fixed up and then I'll thoroughly enjoy it.

Ok? I still only buy games worth buying.....so if they want to release garbage that's on them, I'm ready to cancel that order anytime

So they can purposely release a broken game, lie and mislead consumers and 'We're sorry' fixes it?

Not on this scale though. The only thing remotely similar for me was Dishonored 2 on release. And that wasn't so much bugs as shitty frame pacing.

For the record, I'm 30 hours in and enjoying the game on my 2070, but it's about a year away from a polished release. And the PS4 and X1 footage actually made me laugh. It's abysmal.

My suspicion is they thought they could pull a rockstar and release cross gen. It was an error. This game has no business being on base consoles.

Most won't do this sadly and the damage will already be done. Gamers need to stop locking in our money before at least reviews drop if people won't wait until the product is released and consumer impressions are out. Never gonna happen though so I'll go back to watching nip slip compilations

it's like a pets food dish but the portions for the food and the water are totally mixed together which completely ruins things and the whole entire world will never be the same :(

Yeah man I just don't get it, I view preorders as a prepay of a guaranteed purchase that will sometimes net me cool bonuses, it's basically always a win for me. When it isn't I cancel it. The real issue is people having to have something on day 1 no matter what.

"Good on them". You can't be serious. They did it on purpose, they knew what they did...

This tweet is so cynical...

have they murdered someone? am i missing something? they released a game that is on an unacceptable shape for many people. those people can get their money back. what more do you want? honest question.

There were so many warning signs to to stay far far away from this game at launch.
Many posters were ridiculed and called trolls for their comments.
I don't blame people for wanting to believe the game would be released in a good state but at the best it was extremely naive and at the worst delusional.

Now I see why they say the middle child is often forgotten. No mention, at least specifically, of current gen consoles. At least mention us by name while you're making the rounds, geeze.

Good on them was referring to offering refund as bare minimum. Bethesda didn't do shit when fallout76 was released .

I saw a video last night (Review Tech USA) that Sony was already giving refunds. Some of you are so easy to buy off, an apology and a promise of a refund and you ignore their deception.

I don't defend CDPR for putting out a broken game on consoles, they're disgusting for doing that and the way they lied in their marketing is downright despicable, however I still love the game itself. It's my GOTY.

That's okay brother, you know I like you, just because we don't see eye to eye on this don't change that 🍻

Dont know what you are complaining about.... several people i know including myself.... we play the PS 4 Pro version without any serious problems. I wouldnt call a game broken if so many people can enjoy it on Last Gen consoles.

Aside froma few glitches, it never crashed up to now, it never had any serious game breaking bugs or anything else that would define the game as "Broken"

So stop exaggarating the fact that this game has some bugs and problems to fix.

I very rarely do this, but I'm calling BS. CDPR (Or the higher ups and execs) knew exactly what they were doing by not showing base console versions of CP prior to release. That was not an oversight by any means.

Agreed and the people saying 'but other companies didn't offer refunds' are reaching for an excuse, any excuse to let CDPR off the hook. Other companies have nothing to do with the state of this game or the deception by CDPR.

Oh please shut the fuck up, I'm playing it on PS5, it runs fine, I'm loving it, I was mentioning the last gen consoles as all analysis videos from respected individuals point to this being a broken/buggy port.

Sounds like they should have delayed the console versions until February when all these patches could be ready. Though that would suck for me and others who are enjoying them on next gen consoles, so that was probably part of why they didn't since performance is largely ok there. Thus they should have just done as they said in their apology and shown the last gen base console versions and noted it was rough and would be better after patches early next year so people could have made informed purchases.

For me on XSX it looks pretty solid after 1.0.4 and I've not had any crashes so for (14 hours in) and just had to reload saves twice due to bugs and restart the game once as the graphics went wonky. So nOT perfect, but mostly ok and I'm having a blast with it and glad I didn't have to wait longer. It does suck for some friends stuck on base consoles, though they seem to be enjoying the game despite the rough state of it anyway.
