Cemu Thread: Emulating Wii U Games

People are thirsty as fuck.

I can only imagine the Patreon will increase consistently as the game gets close and closer to an acceptable playable state. It's kinda funny but it's actually in the devs' best interest to slow down development on Zelda compatibility as much as they can. :P

Yeah the thought had crossed my mind, dribble out updates and keep it going a while.

I have been a patreon for a little while now and plan on keeping it going, it will eventually lose the Zelda money but had a steady income anyway.

1.7.3 up for donators

Heads up, if this is your first time ever using Cemu, you'll run into a lot of stuttering as shaders get cached for the first time. The stuttering will be reduced as your cache builds up.

# Cemu detailed changelog for 1.7.3
# Patreon release date: 2017-03-10
# Public release date: 2017-03-17

JIT: LWARX instruction now consumes multiple virtual cycles. This speeds up busy wait loops.

general: Screensaver/Standby should no longer come up while a game is playing in Cemu

coreinit: Added API LCDisableDMA(), LCGetAllocatableSize(), MPResetTaskQ(), OSPeekMessage(), OSEnableHomeButtonMenu()
coreinit: Fixed bug in LCEnableDMA()
coreinit/FS: FSOpenFile() is no longer blocking CPU execution
coreinit/FS: Added internal support for priority-based path overloading
coreinit/FS: Cemu will load patched game files automatically from mlc01/usr/title/../../

ACP: Added ACP library. New API: ACPCheckApplicationDeviceEmulation()

AOC: Added proper support for AOC library. Addon content (DLC) is automatically loaded from mlc01/usr/title/../../aoc/ or mlc01/usr/title/../../<aoc_titleId>/

AX: Fixed internal ADPCM playback offset calculation for addresses above 0x80000000

Input: Fixed bug that caused non-keyboard buttons to be detected as keyboard input

GX2: Improved implementation for GX2CalcTVSize() and GX2CalcDRCSize()
GX2: Shader code optimizations. Up to 40% faster compile time for float-only shaders (measured on NVIDIA)
GX2: Added support for shader OP3 CNDGT_INT instruction
GX2: Added support for vertex format FMT_16_16_16_16, nfa=0, signed=0
GX2: Fixed software streamout reading format 32_32_32_FLOAT incorrectly
GX2: Added support for vertex shader gl_PointSize export
GX2: Fixed a race condition in which the GPU7 command processor could run ahead of the current write pointer before GX2Init() was called
GX2: Fixed sampler min and mag filter value being read from wrong register bits
GX2: Added support for streamout binding the same buffer as input and output

Jediyoshi, how did you handle the game's update files? Did you install them via the method mentioned in the changelog (putting the update files in /mlc01/user/title/...)? I'm wondering if maybe those update files are missing for me and that's why I'm hanging.

Edit: Nvm, from Exzap on Reddit:

BotW EU 1.0.0 should work

1.0.0 only for now. Had to add an emergency workaround for this version specifically.
Edit: For all other versions you can set CPU -> Mode to Interpreter and it should run, albeit slowly.

Just play Xenoblade Chronicles X or something, it's got a ton of content and it's a genuinely great game which was markedly hamstrung by Nintendo's shitty hardware. XCX looks amazing in 4K, you won't ever confuse it with The Witcher 3 or anything but the visuals are damn amazing for a game that originally ran on the Wii U. It's sad that such a great title ended up being on a console no one bought and sold so few copies. I honestly feel XCX is a much better game than FFXV is.

This is pretty amazing already...

Link sinks into the ground if he stops running, and you can see bugs with the lens flare effects at the top left of the image, but it's solid progress nonetheless

I wonder if you could somehow get rid of the white haze that's present so often.

Otherwise the game looks a million times better in a resolution that's not measly 720p.

Reshade/Sweetfx will fix it, although I have no idea if it's 100% compatible with CEMU yet.

Oh damn, it's beautiful.

I can't wait to drop the WiiU version lol, it's getting on my nerves. I literally stopped doing the main quest yesterday and just shot off in one direction to see what I can find. I'm not going to continue the story until I play on Cemu.

Hmmm, is Xenoblade Chronicles X really fully playable on this emulator now? I've been playing it on the Wii U and would gladly restart the game if the graphic quality is a massive improvement and there aren't any glitches/bugs involved.

Really? That's awesome! I've been getting increasingly annoyed by the performance which has started affecting my enjoyment. Might just drop it for now, move my saves to my PC when I have the time and wait for it to run properly on CEMU before continuing.

Can CEMU run .App game files ? I did a backup of my Botw with disc2app to install on my wiiU and I wanted to use the same files for CEMU

Or do I need to use them as .Wud ?

Yes. There's homebrew to extract your save game https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-saviine-wiiu-savedata-tool.399833/

Not quite. You could play around with the colors to lessen its effect, but it'd still be rendered on the screen and affecting the scene.

Needs WUD or the extracted game files.

That looks great, only around 6 hours into the game on the switch and absolutely loving it. Will definitely play it again in 4K when/if they can get it running bug free. When not in handheld the performance is atrocious in certain areas.

By the info I could gather, cemu 1.7.3 can run the game without Single Core Interpreter selected, therefore the fps is better.

On 1.7.3b, Single Core Interpreter must be enabled, else the game will crash after the "Open Your Eyes" + yellow light screen. Problem is, with this thing turned on, performance dies.
