Cemu Thread: Emulating Wii U Games

You do realise how little of the screen that is actually being shown there?

Its extremely zoomed in, hence showing the difference in resolution.
Pretty sure he just blurred the picture to be extra hyperbolic lol

Game looks great at high resolutions, too bad I cheaped out on my CPU choice a few years back instead of just spending a little bit more money :/

Will be all over CEMU once I upgrade my CPU

I posted a screenshot from the game on reddit and everyone got VERY MAD at me.

Someone was saying their game looks identical on switch and posted a screenshot, so I made the comparison for them.

Posting also the full screenshots would have helped avoiding confusion.

I just played Breath of the Wild for 4 hours straight before I got the '0% GPU usage/FPS' bug which locks up the game, not bad. I think I've played 13 hours in total on CEMU so far and had about 6 CTD's. Luckily the game autosaves pretty regularly so it's not a huge issue for me.

PSA: Opening wooden chests that are floating on water results in an instant CTD.

Edit: 1.7.4d has been released which fixes graphic bugs for AMD users

How do you all get these good 30fps performances?

my specs:
i3 6100 @ 3.7GHZ
GTX 1050
8GB DDR4 2100 RAM
750 HDD (not SSD) @5400RPM

I have done all optimizations (but no cheat engine) and only get 18-20fps average. When Link stands still sometimes i get 25fps, but as soon as he moves it goes down to 18-20fps...

On the other hand mario kart 8 runs @60fps even in 1440p.

While I would consider unbreakable weapons in BotW a cheat that mars my experience of the game just as cheating unlimited ammunition etc. back in GTA 3 did, there's one mod I woul dlove to see:

Deactivate the bloody subtitles!

Is there already such a thing? The game already has voice over, the subtitles distract from the experience.

Something else that might be very interesting, is toning down the effect that puts a grey layer oeven on foreground objects under certain weather conditions.

That sounds about right for the hardware really.

Mario Kart isn't a fair comparison seeing as it runs at 60fps on real hardware and is hardly stressing the Wii U CPU where BOTW is really taxing on real hardware, so that carries over to the emulation too.

And "even in 1440p" is just a measure of your GPU, your CPU is the most important thing here and really only overclocked i7's are seeing anything like locked performance.

AFAIK cemuhook overlaps with GPUFence for the FPS part and thus doesnt make sense on 1.7.4 (again, for the FPS).

I've did the rest of optimizations including specific nvidia profile and cache with this computer:

I7-6700k stock
1080 stock
16GB DDR4 3000mhz

And I've got 20-25 fps very unstable. I dont see how people get to almost locked 30 without skipping frames.

This is with the 4K graphic pack, but it looks more like 1080p to me. Maybe it's because the aliasing...

Here's same area at 1080p

I tried 8K to see if it made a difference, it didn't, looked the same.

Check your DPI settings from the exe under right click, properties. It has to be ticked when you have windows otherwise the graphic packs aren't working.

1.7.4d and I get 20-30fps (locked in Riva) playing at 4k/5k. Just had a fixed camera bug in a shrine, but it was the only major glitch so far.

I'm pretty happy with it being this early into development.

X5650 @4.2Ghz
12GB DDR3
GTX970

Keep up the great work Cemu team!

tried that, cheers. now when I take a shot with fraps it's 2160p, before it was just 1080p no matter what graphic pack I was using.

Here's a close-up screenshot from the official CEMU Discord by Darkemaste.

I know it's probably too early to ask but what kind of performance can I expect from a 2500k at 4.5GHz in BotW?

I know there's still plenty of optimizations to come but to be honest I'm doubtful that the 2500k might be able to achieve 30 FPS with BotW.

You're correct. People pre-Haswell probably shouldn't attempt it.

I've streamed Mario 3D World just fine to my Steam Link. Have to enable upside-down rendering beforehand, and I launch the shortcut from Steam like this:

"C:\DATA\Games\Cemu\Cemu.exe" -f -g (path to game file)

the -f makes it fullscreen and the -g loads the game - no need to use the menu at all.

Thanks. I still have no idea how to get a controller to work though. Seems that controls need to be set up on the host machine.... which doesn't help me when I'm in a completely different room. My desktop PC has no means of getting a bluetooth signal and I doubt the PS4 controllers I have could even reach that far if I were to fix that.

I can't speak for streaming but using Steam BPM and the steam controller, configuring controls and navigating cemu interface on the fly was quite easy and fast when I recently played trough Captain Toad. Maybe try that combo of it's a possibility

You can inject FXAA with the nvidia control panel. Alternatively you can inject other forms of ppAA with reshade.

fxaa makes the game even more blurry. I'll give reshade a shot. Cheers.

You should really enable the "upload in high quality" option in IMGUR. The compression ruins that screenshot.

If the screenshot size is larger than 5MB imgur will compress it always.

I think I'll use abload; that host allows you to upload 4K PNG's no matter the size.

4K 10MB PNG.

The problem isn't getting a controller to work for CEMU. I have a wired xbox 360 controller that works great.

The trick is getting a controller that works on my laptop across the house that I'm streaming to. Anything hooked up the laptop can not control the game. The controls need to be setup on the host machine.

I think the only way I can do it is to have a bluetooth dongle on my desktop that the controllers can reach from the room with the laptop. Which is a stretch.

1.7.4 preview the first one to break 100k views. funny seeing that growth for essentially a single title. not even custom resolutions jumped that it that much.

You're right, I've done testing with Steam streaming and Moonlight. Cemu just doesn't play nice with being remotely controlled.

Also, you can skip cutscenes in Bayo 1 by pressing - and ZR together.

Just caught this thread and Cemu in general.

How possible is it for Breath of the Wild to eventually be running stable at 60fps?

I've managed to get the game (botw) to run like a dream, thanks to a 6K shader cache.

Originally I ran a 19k cache but my 8GB ram couldn't cope.

the game likes to crash now, so I can't play for a long time. I guess you can't have everything in life :(

I managed to get it running with the 19K shader cache.

The frame rate seems a little problematic, hovering around 19-22 fps in most instances. I am using the GPUfencecheck hack, so it would be even lower without it.

I've also noticed a few graphical glitches. The snow area near the beginning seemed to produce a lot of graphical artifacts. On top of that, the Cryonis rune seems to cause the game to lock up when used outside of shrines.

Overall, it is interesting to see the game run at 1080p. Though I feel it is going to take a few more updates before you could play the game properly.

Here is the system I am running it on:

CPU: Intel Core i5 4460
GPU: nVidia GeForce GTX 970
RAM: 16 Gb DDR3 1866 MHz
SSD: Samsung 850 Evo 250 Gb (Zelda is installed here)
HDD: Seagate 2TB 7200 RPM 64 Mb cache (CEMU is installed here)
