Looks very sweet. Asus, Lenovo, and high end Acer laptops are the only non-Mac laptops that I'd get these days.

Yeah $199 off contract is fucking nuts. It's basically a OPO. Entry level smartphone buyers are gonna eat well this year.

This design is just so timeless. The Thinkpad is for me the blue jeans of laptops-always around, always comfortable, and lives through more use than you'd ever admit in polite company.

Quite fast for a small zoom, but f2.7 (to something smaller) is sadly in diffraction territory with that sensor. Impressive packaging as well.

I would first like to see bigger sensors and lenses first though. Zoom feels like something that just doesn't have enough space inside a phone ATM without a big hit on IQ without being huge. I'd love to be proven wrong though.

Yeah, so happy about that. I was really worried they'd put the capacitive buttons into more models.

Looks like Lenovo has a really amazing lineup of notebooks this year. The Thinkpads are pretty much all amazing (though they should drop the low-res SKUs -- 1366x768 on an expensive laptop in 2015? fuck that). I'd like to see the X250 with the 72Wh battery. Probably sticks out quite a bit, but up to 20h battery life is pretty cool (if only for the fact that it should give reviewers of the next MBA some pause before crowning it the best ever at everything).

Quantum dot TVs, their omni-directional speakers, and appliances was pretty much it.


The main point of interest is they helped organize the 'UHD Alliance', which is trying to get everyone on the same page for all the non-resolution aspects of UHD (including content creators and streaming services). Netflix announcing they're going to start encoding HDR into their 4K streams is a nice surprise out of that portion of the conference.



I lol'd when they openly stated their QD displays have better color than OLED. Interesting to hear them shit on their own baby.

I look forward to some objective tests of their sets, but on the surface they seem pretty impressive. Especially since they claim to have very nice black levels over previous sets.

They announced their new line of Tizen-powered 4K TVs (named "SUHD"), a portable 1TB SSD (basically a 850 EVO in a USB 3.0 case), an omnidirectional speaker, things for that Milk service no one uses, and some home appliances (a stove with virtual flames, I can't even)

Talked about Gear VR. Milk VR just came out. New videos daily. Something from Walking Dead out now and sports videos coming from NBA.

Now on UHD.

Yeah that MILK VR is turning into some bullshit. Half the videos they introduced were not even spherical. I know they are trying to get content on there but common.

I'm guessing they reached a threshold where it's notably cheaper and most people won't be able to tell the difference
obviously it's because the announced LG sets are all OLED
I do expect them to change their tune in a year or two however.

From what ive read, possibly time to market - easier to integrate off the shelf ARM cores than their own custom CPU.

New Sharp 4K displays
The UH30 is the flagship model and it will be available in 70” (LC70UH30) and 80” (LC80UH30) sizes for $3,199 and $5,999, respectively. Both will feature “Spectros”, which increases the color gamut, local dimming, as well as HDMI 2.0. The TVs will also be THX certified and use Quattron / pixel-splitting technology to increase the sub-pixel count to 66 million (42 million more than in a typical 4K TV), which can improve detailing, according to Sharp.
UH30 will, like the UE30, come with Google’s new Android TV platform that looks promising. Sony and Philips will also use Android TV in its 2015 TVs along with several media box manufacturers, making it the first cross-manufacturer Smart TV platform.
UE30 also comes with Android TV but has no THX certification. It will be available in 60” (LC60UE30), 70” (LC70UE30), and 80” (LC80UE30) for $1,999, $2,799 and $5,399, respectively.
The cheaper UB30 will be available in 43” (LC43UB30U), 50” (LC50UB30U), 55” (LC55UB30U), and 65” (LC65UB30) for $749, $999, $1,199 and $2,299, respectively. These TVs will not offer Android TV.

Definitely attractive price points, but I'm waiting to hear what the downside is to get them to that price point (if any, but I'm guessing there's at least a few).

I thought I heard that they are running Intel processors which aren't compatible with a lot for Android apps (like games). Also curious about battery life and overall quality of the phone.
