Whut? Finland and Sweden are some of the most gun dense countries on the planet, but, require a education to own a gun, and a license, and a OK psyche evaluation, you also need to inform the cops that you own a gun.
You know, so like your toddler doesn't find a loaded gun and shoots someone in the family? Gun, mantle, and ammunition, all needs to be stored separately, some parts, in a safe. Crazy!! Complete insanity!!! It just might stop a school shooting or two! WTF, that is horrible!!
I know, it's insane that you need education to have weapons in your home, but I guess in some places, education would be a good thing.

I think they changed it, way back Switzerland mandated every person (or maybe it was every male) at 18 do carry a gov issued pistol, small smg and a box of bullets.
For gun supporters they got a point sometimes about violence. If guns were so bad every Swiss guy with a closet full of guns and ammo should be getting their anger out shooting up every block on a daily basis.
But it seems Switzerland seems like a chill country.

*With education, and you couldn't store the ammunition outside a safe, nor could you have the gun "ready to fire". The mantle is also supposed to be stored in a safe.
Suprisingly, no school shootings, it's like, wierd!! It's almost like not having the mentality of using a gun to defend yourself, as a solution, might mean something! I know, it's cray cray.
Compared to, defend yourself with a gun, the mentality of it, a gun is mah right! *gasp* Screw education man! It's mah right, man!
That just might be the most moronic thing on the entire planet, and it shows in stats.

I have 4 guns, and so does 600k other swedes.
We just don't hand them out like candy like in some other countries.
Switzerland is a dying country, look at thier population curve, it's been below replacement for FIFTY YEARS.
There are almost no children there, so no shit they have no school shootings. I think there are more kids in my middle sized american city than in all of Switzerland. Almost their entire population growth is foreign immigrants, now making up almost a THIRD of the country. That's about double what we have in America.
Better stock up on chocolate, watches, and fondue while you can

Eh, the numbers are not that different for Sweden or Finland in terms of low native birth rate and heavy influx of immigrants. All three of these low population countries wouldn't even make it into the top 10 US states by population. My point being you are comparing CONTINENT SPANNING nation to relatively low population pockets within europe with aging members, so there are relatively few kids for school shootings. And all three of these counties have had mass shootings, switzerland perhaps not in a school.
So maybe take a different tack in this discussion.

Ya. I get it that some parts of the US are ok with guns and you could have the right to shoot someone if they do something on your property, but it does get weird.
I can totally understand someone wanting pull out a gun if they live in a sketchy area or if someone is trying to attack you. But sometimes you hear those crazy stories where some people (often young high school or college kids) loitering around someone's property. They might even try stealing something. I get it, it's shady shit some kinds are doing. Probably making a racket trying to break into his car at midnight too. But that means you can pull out a shotgun and blast the guy? Or sometimes you hear a guy is so pissed the kids goofing around make a run for it and the angry guy still shoots them while they are running away. Then it becomes a big court case in public view. Sounds overboard to me. It's usually a USA kind of situation.
There's some cultural issues. Just because you got a rifle doesn't mean you should go around amped up to let loose some bullets.

Overall population doesn't matter when you look at per/100k data. School shootings in US are popular for many reasons but forgetting about that and looking at just gun violence:

China could be called a tyranny, an authoritarian state that imposes its own law and order, but there is order and the state often provides for the citizens to keep them obedient. EU and Europe in general is turning into anarcho-tyranny, a tyranny with all the cons of a tyranny but none of its pros like order and safety. It's basically the worst dystopia you can imagine, an unlawful shithole where the government demands obedience but only when it comes to anything involving it and its interests, for everything else you can fuck right off.
Small time crime is OKish because it doesn't affect the government, rape gangs are OKish because it doesn't affect the government but dare to oppose the government or its corporate masters and you get the Arno van Kessel treatment, the Dutch lawyer that is still being detained without charges after months for basically suing Bill Gates and the Phizer CEO
