Ahh I'am glad you didn't buy it when it was £9.99.

was it at that price point at Play? Then I probably missed it. I just remember it costing that much on Amazon and with shipping it was too much. Lucky me I guess.

Just been into my local GAME and picked up Fallout New Vegas Limited Edition on PS3 for £24.99. It was hidden underneath a pile of Tony Hawks Shred's :lol

also Metroid Other M for £15 there too
I don't know but can you look if there is a hidden Xbox 360 CE for the same price?

Hi it was only the PS3 version there. Though my GAME store is really small so you might have more luck at a larger one.

A couple of other deals there were gran turismo 5 signature edition for £64.99 and halo reach CE for £29.99

Pre-ordering stuff before 2011 and the VAT increase comes around would be smart, yes?

Maybe stuff you need on day one, as there is a chance they could alter a quid or two... but games will still drop regardless of VAT, and I think sites will still be dropping items to that magic £17.99 mark a few weeks after release if a game fails at retail.

The VAT rise will probably only hugely affect large £1000+ items, and nothing connected to gaming will be affected much

Is it weird that I always had this game on my radar, but now the Platinum packaging puts me off, even at this price? I would rather pay 10 for the standard version :/

Bought the Platinum version from Zavvi and it looks even worse in nature. Absolutely hideous.

Just hooked up the fighting pad I got for £11 from HMV amwith Suoer Street Fighter 4, I think I prefer it over my hori stick it's awesome.

Marketing 101. The Platinum packaging is deliberately hideous to induce you to pay more for the regular edition. Only the really price-conscious go for the Platinum edition.

In fact I don't really understand why MS prettied up their Platinum packaging. It looks just as good as if not better than the regular packaging now.

A game is a game in my eyes. I don't understand why people care about what the box looks like. But that's just me, I guess.

That doesn't really make any sense since by the time the platinum release is out the regular edition is extinct or near extinct at retail level...at least as new. Given how much the industry likes used games packaging that encourages people to buy that is crazy. Besides from what I understand any regular editions left should drop to the same price as the platinum release. Then again, the oddest thing I've seen is the whole throw all/some of the DLC into the platinum release which if anything encourages me less to buy the original, ever :lol
I guess that is the plan as you wouldn't buy a used copy of the original instead going for a new platinum for added value

If you ask me the price-conscious gaming would be the equivalent of a Tesco value edition. So very flimsy box with a very plain cover (think of the old master system boxarts).

That stuff aside, very store specific (due to the size of the package) but apparently in the GAME/Gamestation sale you can find the limited edition of Monster Hunter Tri for £20. It comes with a worthless Wii Speak, the Classic Controller pro bungle of the game and some figurine of one of the monsters in a treasure chest style box (i think its cardboard so don't expect anything like Anno 1404). But like I said very store specific as in either ring on the off chance (as crazy as it sounds I've done that in the past and been successful) but the deals been on Hotukdeals for a few days now so thats probably killed the element of surprise.

Again, any good places for Dead Space 2 Collector's Edition pre-orders? :D

I thought the Collector's Edition (Plasma Cutter), was exclusive to HMV on 360/PC, Play have the exclusive on the Extraction pack-in, so I guess you gotta pay what they ask.

(I guess I could be wrong about the exclusiveness, but I dont see the other version listed elsewhere)

Samsung G3 - 1.5TB Desktop External USB 2.0 Hard Drive (Black) - £59.99 @ Amazon

Keyser nice find.

Thought it was one of those external drives that needed it's own power supply at first. Ordered one as soon as I discovered it's powered over USB.

Edit

Having another look on the site and it's unclear if it's USB powered or not! There's like a power socket in the pic as well...

I saw the PS3 version on Amazon the other day, the same price as the regular edition. Not sure if it's the same as Play's though.

Hey GAF, any insane 3D Dot Game Heroes offers at the moment?
The best one is...

Some decent deals in GAME. Saw 3D Dot Game Heroes for £15, Nier for £9.99, a few older games for under £5 etc.

Didn't bother looking just too hard though.
Thats instore only, btw. Given it goes for at least £20 online I'd guess that was insane but I'm no expert.

They belong to the same division as the "Media Markt" markets and as far as I can see together they have 33 sites in France. So maybe they have the same offer over there...
