Cheap Arse Gaffer (Euro Gaming) Thread 2 - Add to your backlog with ease

Gaming in the UK is so much cheaper than it used to be. It used to be a miracle when a decent N64 game would drop below £30. Games like Perfect Dark and Majora's mask cost me £50 each only a decade ago. Now all we have to do is wait a week after launch for stuff to hit £18.

Some younger gamers don't realise how good we have it now.

I remember when Megadrive and SNES games used to be £59.99 with no exceptions or deals lack of internet in fact we didn't even know the internet existed back in the late 80's early 90's lol.. meant that stores like Currys, Dixon's and Woolworth's basically could get away with it.

Didn't help that most took an hour to complete

Hello GAF,
I need to find sonic related action figures for my 3 nephews. The store needs to send outside from UK
Greece
. Any ideas where should I look, except ebay?

Please help, think of the children

It was that price about a week ago. Like most HMV online deals it'll be cancelled and I assume the instore price is different.
I ordered online yesterday and it was dispatched the same day :/

As for the remote matching. Gold CC Pro has gold buttons and a black cord. Gold remote has white buttons (looking inconsistent). Gold nunchuck (currently Club Nintendo Japan only) has gold buttons and a white cable.
Must admit I hadn't compared the detailing that closely, but still I think this is the closest we are likely to get to a 'matching' gold controller (Also, its not impossible to swap the buttons and cable/PCB with a white classic controller pro if you really want a perfect match)

Even though Deal Extreme is a good bet, I guess they might not make it by Xmas (which I guess is what these are for).

Amazon is probably the best bet. If you pay the lowest shipping charge they should get it to you in 3 or 4 days, just make sure you use items "Fulfilled by Amazon" or "Sold by Amazon" and not third-party sellers - delivery should be under €5 for all the items combined, and it should arrive in time too

Prices are all over the place though...

Sonic Sega AllStars Figure - £19.99
Metal Sonic ~9.5" Deluxe Figure - £39.99
Sonic: Deluxe Sonic The Hedgehog 10''- £37.60
Sonic The Hedgehog Classic 5 cm Collectable Boxset (6 Figure) - £19.99 (not the main item, check the right hand box)

There are another 51 items here

Anyone else been waiting for stuff from GAME to arrive? I ordered Sonic Generations a week ago and still no sign, meanwhile, Amazon is still knocking out orders with free delivery in 3 days flat.

Yup, with the prices they charge in store it's no surprise at all that they are struggling.
Back in the past that was where the money was as you didn't have ready access to large warehouses in the middle of nowhere so if you wanted *item older than 6 months or whatever the rest of the high streecut-off* HMV was your only bet. But now you just go "its half the price on Amazon, I'll just buy there and wait a little while".

Maybe also the singles market being dead.

If anything, HMV could try going more into the "we'll order it in for you for the same price" market but then the point is why bother and management seems to want to go more for the luxury side of things.

So its not just our local cex then

(referring to the stink)

Does your local cex also have those oh-so-cool to be lazy, tattooed, pierced-up school dropouts who would rather stack empty game boxes than help the one decent employee manning the tills when there's a fucking giant queue going? Also, playing their shitty music as loud as they can to make the wait and stink even more unbearable?

Fucking terrible place.

This describes my local CEX. What an odd phenomenon.

Best DsiXL deal online? Any color.
Best I've found is €160 on Amazon.it, and Amazon UK prices are outrageous!

I also need Brain Training, More Brain Training and Picross (not 3D).
I've read that there's a pre-installed Brain Training in the console itself, but is it the full software, a part of it, or something completely new?

Thanks guys

Well mine shipped.

Holy shit. CEX's mandate must be "minimum of two colours in hair, tattoos and piercings preferred" because you've just described my local as well.

And yes, always super long queues and far more employees than tills being staffed.

Have these tattooed, pierced-up school dropouts got a monopoly on franchise rights or something?

I've only been into the Cardiff CEX a few times, but that pretty much describes my experience.

No Zavvi Mega Monday deals this week? :/

We're through the looking glass here, people.

I've been to CEX in Birmingham, Coventry, Leicester and Leamington Spa. All the same. I'm wondering if they rotate staff heh.

The coventry store particulary stands out as i don't think there's a staff loo and they all piss on the shelves. Really damp, musky place, that one.

for fear of going to off-topic, where dem dealz!?

Holy shit, I have been to CeX in Leicester and Northampton, and yes both stores have punk looking guys and girls with piercings, tattoos, and coloured hair.

I used to visit the original CEX, back when it was the Tottenham Court Road Computer Exchange, and then when it moved to Goodge Street. Those were the times when Charlie Brooker was nearly a writer for PC Zone, and hawked copies of SuperKaylo from the shop, as well as doing their ads. They used to be awesome: imports, huge PC section (in the basement), nice people who were willing to chat about games, primarily, and acted like you deserved to be in there. I remember having to take a letter from my mum to trade games in - this was when I was 15 or something, and you had to be 18 or over. Good times.

And then the company became the shit-fest it is now. Bet Brooker wouldn't even set foot in one of them now. The staff are horrific, the prices exorbitant, they make a huge trade from stolen goods - having witness staff in one branch buying a box of FIFA '10 the day before it was out from a very dodgy looking man who didn't want to make eye contact with anybody - and they rip off people trying to sell things (as happened with me selling them an iPhone 3G in mint condition over their website, an iPhone which they refused to buy for no reason, apparently got lost in the post, but they didn't have proof that they posted it so I lost it entirely). Awful, awful company.
